We're All Connected Somehow

The quote, "That there are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind." means many things to me.

The first word that comes into my mind whenever I read this is "Fate." Everyone has one and no one can change that. Even if you try to change your own fate, your end result will still be what you were meant to do. In Eddie's case, his fate was to work at the Pier. Had he not worked there almost his whole life, he wouldn't have saved the little girl's life the day he died. So, because of him being injured in the war, he saved the child's life.

To me, this quote also means that the old saying "It's a small world" is very much true. What we do or do not do may affect everyone around us whether we know them or not. For example: In the book, the teenager, Nicky, was connected to Eddie even though they had never spoken before; Nicky's key flew out of his pocket and cut the cable to the ride that killed Eddie.

In the book The Five People You Meet in Heaven, Eddie learns that all lives are connected. Although Eddie had never even met the first person he met in Heaven while he was still alive, he found out that he was the reason for the man's death. Also, while Eddie thought that his commanding officer was just a boss to him, he later finds out that his officer was the reason for him having a bad leg after the war; this completely changed his life.

So, whether you realize it or not, every little decision you make influences everyone. It could be something as small as going to the grocery to get milk, or something as large as deciding to run as president. Everyone is connected somehow.

Everything Happens For a Reason

In my opinion this quote is very interesting. Before I read the book I thought that this theory was impossible. Now that I am done reading my mind has been changed. What this quote means to me is that everything happens for a reason. God has a plan and he will fulfill it. No matter how much we dislike the way things turn out there is always good reasoning behind them. I think that it is amazing how lives can be connected without either person knowing about it. Such as the case where Eddie meets The Blue Man. It is as simple as a ball rolling across the street while a man drives down the road. The two people meeting might live across the street from each other or even across the country. If god plans for them to meet they will. Some people might say that this theory is impossible, but if you really think about it the idea seems very likely.

The Free World?

"That there are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more seperate on life from another than you can seperate a breeze from the wind."

Destiny-the events that will necessarily happen to a particular person or thing in the future.

To me, these two things mean the same thing. Things happens in life for a reason and you cannot stray from that reason. That's what destiny is. That's what the above prompt means to me. That our lives are set in stone. That we no more control them than we control the weather. We have no choices, our lives are a set path, and no one can change their future. You die when you're meant to and if you do something wrong, it was you're destiny to do so. I do not believe in this myself, but it's what I get from the prompt.

Also that, everyone in you're life is there for a reason. "We are all connected." For example, you're parents are in your life to take care of you. But what about the burglar that broke into your house last fall? Why was he in you're life? Maybe it was to increase the security on your home or for you to be thankful you weren't there when it happened. This is also what the prompt tells me.

A Chain Reaction

"That there are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind." What does this mean to you?

I firmly agree with this statement. I believe that everything on Earth happens for a define reason. The reason why may be unclear to us at the moment, but maybe, as the book The Five People You Meet In Heaven says, it shall be further explained to us why a certain thing occurred in the way it did in our lives.
I also believe that everyone has a extraordinarily strong effect on each other. For example, had my mother never taught me manners and brought me up well, would I be the person I am today? Or had the forefathers of America ceased to exist? Would America be the country it is?
People can build each other up or tear people down by being in one another's life. Your life changes from day to day just because of the people surrounding you.
Take, for instance, Batman. If Robin didn't exist or just a mere witness of crime, how could Batman fight off villains by himself? He would be defeated too easily. If The Joker didn't exist or just wasn't evil, then what would be the point of Batman's superhero job? See how everyone has that effect on everybody else around them?
The other day at Wal-Mart, my mom and I had just finished shopping and we were exiting into the parking lot. A coke bottle fell out from a lady's cart in front of us. I scooped it up quickly and returned it to the lady. Maybe she needed that Coke for her kid's birthday party. If I wasn't there to get that bottle for her, it would've rolled off somewhere into the parking lot. She would've got all the way home before she realized it was missing.
Not able to find it anywhere, she would have had to rush back to the store before the party started. When she got back to the house with the Coke, everybody would already be there. Then, the mother would've realized that she was in such a rush, that she left the cake in the back seat of the car, and now the icing is all melted and nasty. And viola, a bunch of disappointed little kids. All because maybe my mom decided that we'll just go to Wal-Mart the next day.
The point is, everyone has at least some sort of an effect on your life, no matter when you cross paths. And I also think that everything you do is for a reason, whether it is regretted or not.

All connected. All affected

"There are no random acts. We are all connected. You can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind."

To me this quote means exactly what it says: We are all connected. To me it could also mean that everything and everyone that comes into your life affects your life. Think about the life you have right now and how that came to be your life. The place you grow up and the parents you have affect your life. The things you have experienced or will come to experience will affect your life. If you didn't have the parents you have or if you didn't live where you live now your life would be different. You would probably grow to be an entirely different person. Lets say, for example, that when you were younger you moved and then had to go to a different school. That may have made you unhappy, but then you met someone who turned out to be your best friend later on in life. If you hadn't moved and gone to a different school, you may have never met your future best friend. Now, an example from the story would be the way Eddie's life turned out. Eddie basically grew up at Ruby Pier because he had to go to work with his father all during his childhood. That was part of his having the ability to take over his father's job. If Ruby Pier was never a part of his life, Eddie may have never gotten the job there, and he probably would have never died the way he did in the story. So you see, everything and everyone really can affect your life or be a part of someone else's life in some way. This shows that we really are all connected.

All Connetions.

"You can no more separate a breeze from a wind"
This to me means, at first glance you may seem very different but once you get closer to that person you find out you have many things in common. This means every thing is somehow connected, at that point in time you have no idea what you did / effected but in one point in time you will somehow be confronted with this action. Just like when Eddie was chasing his ball he had no idea he had "killed" someone, he didn't actually kill him the action he made accidentally , in a freak accident killed him. If Eddie had know he was going to do that he wouldn't have but everything happens for a reason. That Is what this quote means to me.

Our actions

Write a response to the following prompt: "That there are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more separate one life from another that you can separate a breeze from the wind." What does this mean to you?

The prompt means to me that any action can change someone's life. It can be as simple as offering a morning greeting. While waiting in line at the bank, you smile and say good morning to a complete stranger. That smile could brighten their day and change their mood. As that person's mood enhances, their interaction with others change for the better. Their actions alter the disposition of the people around them and create a domino effect. One simple gesture, of no cost to anyone, can unknowingly change many lives. The prompt tells me that any act of kindness, no matter how small, can affect someone's life.

The prompt can also be seen from the opposite point of view. You're about to pull into an open parking spot at the mall, when out of nowhere, another car pulls into the space. Wouldn't you be upset? What if you are driving and another car cuts you off. Wouldn't you be angry? These acts could ruin your day and if you did it to someone else it could ruin their day. Unkind acts make a great impact on everyone. Once you are upset the negativity expands. You start doing unfavorable, harmful deeds. Your anger stretches to everyone around you then to everyone around them and it sets off a chain reaction. The prompt also tells me that negative behavior can change someone's life.

We Are All Connected

“You can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind.” To me, this means that we all have power over the lives around us. One small decision we make could affect someone else very strongly, without us even knowing. For example, when Eddie went into the road to get his baseball, he hadn’t meant to almost get hit by a car. Eddie was grateful that the driver swerved just in time, and then he went back to playing with his friends. However, Eddie didn’t realize the driver would die of a heart attack because of the shock of nearly killing a little boy. If Eddie had known this would happen, he probably would have checked for cars before going in the street to get his ball. People do things without thinking, and it sometimes has extreme consequences. “We are all connected.” We cannot control what others do, and anyone can come along and destroy your life. Or they may change your life for the better. Many people believe that these things happen for a reason. “There are no random acts.”

Equal and Opposite Reaction

That there are no random acts. That we are all connected.”

I believe that this quote has many different meanings. To some people it may mean what goes around comes around. To others, everything happens for a reason. For me, it’s a little bit of both. I like to look at it from Sir Isaac Newton’s point of view. “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.” ~ Newton’s Third Law. For instance, if you don’t do your home work, you get a bad grade, get in trouble, then it just snowballs from there. Another example is, let’s say your friend is at home alone with a cold. You decide to bring them homemade soup and watch movies to cheer them up. In return, she gets better sooner, and you both go on living life. All in all, bad decisions have bad results. Same goes for good choices. The soup scenario also fits with the statement that everything happens for a reason. If you hadn’t brought them the soup, she probably would not have gotten well so soon. That is what that quote means to me.

Hitsuzen

''Hitsuzen. A naturally foreordained event. A sate in which other outcomes are impossible A result which can only be obtained by a single causality, and other causalities would necessarily create different results."- Yuko the Space Time Witch

There is coincidence in the world. In the book the Blue Man says to Eddie that no life can be separated from another. This is the same idea has Hitsuzen. That something happens in our life for a reason. It's already been set in stone. The idea of our lives being connected means to me is that there is something holding us together. People come into our lives for a reason no matter how short of time. That person that comes into your life maybe the person you fall in love with or make a huge impact. We may not realize it, but we are put in people's path for a reason. Maybe it's just to cheer them up or just running into them at the mall we are all connected no matter what.

Random Acts: Not So Random

"There are no random acts. We are all connected." This means to me that everything happens for a reason. Let's say, for example, that your best friend's dog dies because someone hit it with their vehicle. Let's also say that your best friend loves this dog more than life. Now, let us rewind back to the moment before the dog was hit. It's cold, dark, and somewhat foggy. The dog is digging through the neighbors trash, even though it has been told a thousand times before not to. A truck is carelessly speeding down the road towards the dog. At the exact same moment, a raccoon jumps out of the trash and runs across the road. The dog, doing what dogs do best, chases after the raccoon. The truck then runs the dog over. If the dog had not been rummaging through the garbage and chased after the raccoon, or if the driver had been more careful and was going the speed limit, the dog would not have died. If the dog had not died, your best friend would not be a devastated wreck. This just goes to show you that everything happens for a reason. There are no such things as random acts.
