What makes someone a hero?

I believe that children in today's world believe that a hero is Superman, or some other inhuman character. The average man or woman will consider a hero to be a fireman, or someone in the military. They are right. Those who do fight for our freedom, or others who just make daily life possible for us deserve respect for the responsibilities that they are burdened with. Though, most of those average people do not fully understand, nor bother to realize what a true hero is. Heroes can be anyone from a boy on a bicycle finding a lost dog and returning it, to an average school teacher. Both have positively influenced the community, and even the world depending on the situation. Without school teachers, we wouldn't have educated peoples. That means that we would have uneducated men and women leading our country into war, disposing of nuclear waste, and making trade agreements with other countries. If we did not have those men and women devoting their time to educate the community, mass chaos would erupt. Wars would begin, radiation would spread, and people would die without medication. Those actions would cause world destruction. Now, the boy who returns the dog to the sad little boy and girl, though not as important as world peace, does have a positive outcome. He made the kids happy again, and perhaps reunited a family. So, I believe that you do not need tights and cape to be a hero, as there are hundreds of heroes that you see and speak to daily; teachers, firemen, police, military personnel, and even the cafeteria ladies that cook the almost consumable food that keeps us thinking sharp through the rest of our school day!

Helden von heute

"Ein Held ist, sondern eine hilfreiche seele...". This is a very accurate quote. When one will think of a hero, they don't stop to think of a garbage collector as a hero. Without them, our air, communities, and homes would be filled with the stench of garbage. These people take time out of there lives to better ours. The old quote means "A hero is not but a helpful soul". Think of the police and firefighters. They would be the first everday heros to come to mind, but have you ever thought of the mail man, or maybe even those who vote. Without the mail man, you would not know what was going on in the world. Voters are an even more important hero. Without them, our government would either not exist, or be in utter chaos. So being a hero is not just having super power or fighting super villians, but being helpful in our everday lives. Next time you think of a hero, stop and think about the helpful people around you.

Hero

Hero. When you think of a hero, Spiderman or Superman probably comes to mind. But do strong men with costumes really define what a hero is? My definition of a hero is an average person who sacrifices to help others. For example, policemen put themselves at risk to keep order in a city and to protect the people living there. Because they put other people's protection and safety before their own, I personally consider policemen to be heroes. Even a teacher can be a hero. Good teachers prepare lesson plans, make tests, and grade stacks of papers so that students have the opportunity to get an education and have a successful career when they graduate. You don't have to do something drastic to be someone's hero. In 7th grade, I went to a private school for the first time. I didn't know a single person, and I was extremely shy and nervous. On the first day of school, a girl went out of her way to introduce herself to me. We immediately became friends. Through her, I met more people, some of which are now my best friends. By just a small gesture, she made me feel accepted and kept me from being lonely. Anyone can be a hero, they just have to be willing to reach out to others.

Герой (Hero)

A heroic action, a good deed, a favorable quality are all things that you can use to decipher who to give the title of a hero to. Personally, I wouldn't exactly label someone as a stereotypical hero because no one is all hero all the time. But if I had to decide who I would consider a hero it would be, as cliche as it is, my mom. Yes, all parents should be thought of as a hero to their children but to justify this classic adage, even if I wasn't her child and I saw how often that she pushes her own needs aside to help others I would be overwhelmed with amazement. My mother has an illness called fibromyalgia which is a chronic pain in the muscles and tissues that surround the joints. Basically, she is in pain all the time. Most of the times being worse than others. I cannot even begin to comprehend how she does everything she does. Even my simple headaches bring me down but it's almost as if my mom is flying when she walks. She is her own persevering hero able to endure almost anything and my hero for everything she does, not for me but for others. In the perspective of a stranger I would be a spectacle of who she is, what she does and what she feels. Her strength, perseverance and endurance are the heroic qualities that I favor among the rest. My mother is the definite hero. She's my hero and to those she has helped.
