God is Love

Love has many definitions. The recognized definition is, “An intense feeling of deep affection.” That doesn’t even begin to describe what love is or really means. Love is more than a feeling. You could never truly understand love until you have experienced it. Love can be anything. We tend to not recognize it but love is all around us. Love means so much to me. When you hear people say “I love you” you can tell if it’s real love or not. Today, it burns me up to hear someone say I love you and know they really don’t mean it. They’ll throw it around like it’s just a few words.
               When I think of love, I think of God sending his only son to die on the cross for us. That is real love. The death of Jesus wasn’t just something quick and over with. It is said He was beaten beyond recognition! As people beat him, He still loved them. Could you imagine being hung on a wooden cross and beaten down to the core and still love the very people that hurt you? I know many would have a few unkind words and negative feelings.
               Love affects my life every day. If it wasn’t for He who died on the cross for my sins, I wouldn’t be here today. Love, to me, lies in the hands of God. Words cannot explain the love He has for everyone even if we do sin and disobey Him. He still loves us and that is what love really is.
