"Ein Held ist, sondern eine hilfreiche seele...". This is a very accurate quote. When one will think of a hero, they don't stop to think of a garbage collector as a hero. Without them, our air, communities, and homes would be filled with the stench of garbage. These people take time out of there lives to better ours. The old quote means "A hero is not but a helpful soul". Think of the police and firefighters. They would be the first everday heros to come to mind, but have you ever thought of the mail man, or maybe even those who vote. Without the mail man, you would not know what was going on in the world. Voters are an even more important hero. Without them, our government would either not exist, or be in utter chaos. So being a hero is not just having super power or fighting super villians, but being helpful in our everday lives. Next time you think of a hero, stop and think about the helpful people around you.
This really came to my attention. For example without the mail man or woman I would not be able to send letters back and forth to my friend in the military. Anyone can be a hero to someone else. Even you very own friends that are there for you and help you in times of need.
ReplyDeleteThat is so true! I've never really thought about the mailman or garbage man. Since they don't appear as important, garbage men aren't usually what would be classified as heroes. Although I know that heroes are every day people, this reminded me that I need to broaden my way of thinking.
