Not always Superman
When you think of a hero and someone asks you to define it in your own words, it is kind of difficult to come up with something, because a hero could be so many things. The Webster definition of a hero is a person of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. I personally do not think a hero is always just someone who is brave or noble. To be a hero you don’t have to wear tights, have a cape, or have superpowers. A hero could be an everyday person like you and I. Whether you are doing something for a city, flying through the air like Superman to fight off evil villains, or doing something for just one person, like sticking up for a classmate who is being picked on you could very well be a hero. You could also be a hero by simply just being a friend to someone and cheering them up when they are down. All those things, whether big or small, could make you a hero in someone’s eyes. A hero is usually very selfless, someone who does stuff for other people without wanting anything in return. To be a hero they must have a lot of love in their heart. The love gives them the inspiration to do a good deed. Their courage gives them the strength and determination to actually make a difference. So whether you are a firefighter, policeman, teacher, a superhero, or simply just a friend you have the power to make a difference and to be a hero.

ReplyDeleteVery well written, Jensen. I love how you put that teachers and friends are also heroes.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you when you say that you do not have to complete some great feat to be a hero. It truly is the little things that can make the biggest differences. And it is very true that just being a friend to someone is being a hero. Good job:)
