A close friend of mine went into the Army recently. His name is Patrick and he is home for the holidays. He is 17 years old and very dedicated to anything and everything he volunteers for. I encourage everyone who feels strongly for the military to post like it was assigned by Mrs. Dupuy herself about your opinion or someone who you know is or was in the military.
I did not care much at all for any military service, wars or anything pertaining to them until someone I loved entered a world of death and despair. I have learned respect for family members or friends with loved ones in the military from the pain that I endure from thinking of Patrick in such a horrid, bloody battle field. I have also learned that not only must our soldiers be Army Strong but it takes quite a bit of strength back at home, too. I cannot believe that I didn't pay attention to the charities that give Christmas gifts to soldiers or those campaign commercials about donating anything to the soldiers to make it feel like home, even if it never works. That field, the dry desert plane across the ocean, is like a death bed for a loved elder and you cannot see them until they get better or when they cannot be seen with the sparkle of life in their eyes. On the upside of things, though, is to help support them and follow their passion with them while they defend our very ways of life. I have faith that my Lord will take only what he needs and only at the time He needs it when it comes to life. I have faith that Patrick will live a healthy and successful life. (Especially if he's making 15k a week!)

An Inspirational Quote

I haven't known about this quote for long. I just found it the other day and I really liked it. This quote has helped me get through tough times and is very inspirational. This quote is saying that people who put you down only do it to build themselves up. The second part says that there are "big" people in the world who strive to build others up. Those are the people that we should hang around, because they will make us feel great. This quote has also led me to admire Mark Twain. Before I read this quote, I just thought of him as an author. Now I think of him as an inspiration. This is a really great quote and I hope that it will have an influence on your life just as it did mine. Your ambitions are your dreams. No one can take them away from you.

This quote is meaningful to me because it says that change is inevitable no matter what anyone does. Lots of people are reluctant to any form of change. Change is happening all around us. People should get use to it. Most innovations are beneficial to us. For instance, without the internet I wouldn’t have to do this blog and my parents wouldn’t be able to look at my grades all the time on powerschool. I’m not exactly crazy about these changes but they’re probably beneficial to me in the long run. If we only focus on what has worked in the past we will never reek the benefits of change. We never no what kind of useful technologies or ideas are out there. Plenty of Americans, especially in Louisiana, are viciously opposed to healthcare reform. They’re calling it a government takeover when all it does is cap premiums and offer a more affordable option for people with lower incomes. There is nothing wrong with that. I think more people should read this quote and start looking at the future.

This quote said by Buddha stood out to me more than all of the other quotes that I found. It is exceedingly relevant to how my life has played out so far. I’m sure many people know about a portion of the major tragedies that have occurred throughout my past, but some people, even my friends, don’t know the extent that they had on me. The main struggle that I experienced was when my dad was diagnosed with brain cancer. This huge impact not only affected me, but my family and friends as well. I have spent countless hours thinking about my future and what God has in store for my family and me. I fear that my life has been passing me by while I was planning out my future. I regret to say that I have been in denial for a long time about what might happen. I understand that there is a chance of my dad passing away in the near future, but I had a hard time facing the fact that it was real. I’ve learned to live a day at a time and deal with things as they come. Sometimes it’s better to plan ahead. If you are constantly planning ahead though, you will miss out on what is important in the present moment.

My dad has always told me to just kill them with kindness, for as long as I can remember. I guess you can say it is kind of a motto for us. This quote means if you are having problems with a friend, just flash them a great, big smile. When you smile at someone who is being mean, they get confused and start being nice too. I have always tried to go by this quote with everyone I know. If you are talking to someone, and they are being rude or unkind, just smile at them and walk away politely. There is no need to act the same way as them. To me, this quote pretty much works all the time, no matter what the circumstances are. If you are always nice to people, usually they will be nice back. This saying has never done any harm to anyone. So, I think you all should give it a try too!

Like Thomas Jefferson I come from a large family. Nothing makes me happier than when we are all together. Looking back at my life, I’ve had many good times and many fond memories. However my greatest memories are those in which I share with my family. This is pertaining to either the son of God, Jesus Christ, or the devil. In this world and on this earth in everything that you say or do, you are serving either one or the other. You cannot serve God and still act as if there is no law. “No man can serve two masters: for he will hate one and love the other or shall hold to one and despise the other . . .” You can’t do what you know is wrong just to please others, as well. This is yet another quote to help you to understand what I am saying. This quote I've only heard once, but it hit home for me. My family and I have been going through a lot lately, and it has been hard on everyone of us especially me. Sometimes when your going through something difficult, you feel like there isn't any hope left for you and nothing matters, but that is when you should read this quote and be uplifted. I've never heard of the author before I found this quote from him, but he seems to know what its like to struggle in life. To me, this quote is saying several things at the same time. For one, it is saying that you should notice the little things in life too. When something huge and stressful is going on in your life, you tend to forget all about little things that make life worth while like the sun rising or someone just being thoughtful. The quote is also saying that without the bad, there would be no good. You can't have a right without a wrong. So Silvetris is saying that life has it's ups and downs, it's good days and it's bad days, but it is all a part of life, and it all wouldn't work if good didn't have a bad. This quote lifts me up because I know it took a horrible thing to make my life a lot better, and you don't see that until you take a step back. I think this quote is very inspiring because it is encouraging; it tells you to keep your head up and live the life you live, because your lucky whether it's a good day or a bad day. For me this quote means you should accept your life and what happens in it, because everything happens for a reason and life does not stop for anyone.

He is a very humble and emotional guy. This quote is becoming famous and is now all over the media. It inspires me so much I printed it out and put it on my wall in a frame! At the University of Florida, they have it on a plaque. Tim Tebow is a legend, and now this quote is becoming legendary. This is what this humble, inspiring, and emotional quote means to me.

Laughter

The very first time I saw this quote I was in my science class. When I read it and understood it, it spoke to me. Laughing is something you should have in your life constantly, no matter what. Trying to ignore laugter won't work because laughing is one of the very few things that revolve around this world. Many people laugh with their family, friends, and even strangers. Meaning that if a person doesn't have the time to laugh at least once a day, he or she is taking life too seriously. Saying, that the person needs to relax and see the humorous side of the world. But, if you ignore those little things that make you laugh like crazy, it can cause sadness or even loneliness. Those qualities won't let you laugh, which makes your day wasted. Your day will be a waste of time, because there is no happiness to it. So, if you are one of those unwilling people that don't laugh, cheer up and make the day worth it! Go have an adventure laughing at the great humorous things in life that no human being can resist.

If you take away guns to stop crime, it just won't work. If someone wants to harm somebodyelse bad enough, they will use whatever they have. Helen Keller was a very inspiring woman. She was blind and deaf, yet still made a big difference in the world. She wrote this quote to tell the world life moves on. A door of happiness is not a literal door, but instead a mental thing. People often think when one good thing ends their happiness is gone. Most people do not get back in the swing of life when life knocks them down. Instead of looking for the good in their lives they stay hung up on meaningless set backs. Helen Keller wanted people to see the good in their lives. She knew no one should give up. She accomplished many great things. Helen started a school for the deaf and blind. She learned to speak and teach even though the odds were against her. She realized even though she was disabled, life had to move on. All in all, Helen just wanted to people to get back up when life knocks them down. Don't dwell on the past. Focus all your energy on living for the moment. Always try to see the good in life.

Striking Out

This quote is important and positive in life. It means, never give up no matter how many times you “strike out.” Whether it is in school or activities, you should never give up on it and always do your best. Also, never let the fear of giving up, hold you back in life. The quote is helpful if you are going through a bad time and you feel like giving up. It says not to, that you should keep on moving forward. To me, it is a positive influence. Whenever I feel like giving up on something I remember it so, I do not give in and I keep trying. An example for me is school or grades. When I work at something and fail, I do not just settle with that “strike out.” I keep working at it even harder until I succeed. Never let fear get in your way of anything.

This quote has really been an inspiration to me because it is saying that no matter what the outcome, whether it be victory or defeat, if you give your all you have accomplished something. In his quote, Theodore Roosevelt is saying that the people in life who just sit on the side and just critisize the people who are trying will never amount to anything in life. For example, if a pitcher is brought into a baseball game with bases loaded and he gives up the winning run, he will most likely be critsized. The pitcher will more than likely be upset, but atleast he was willing to step up and try. The players who critisize him have no right to do so because they were not willing to step up and try. I agree completely with this quote because I get aggravated with people who do not attempt to do something, yet they critisize those who are willing to go out and work for what they want. Sure, it may be easier to critisize, but the people who try will always accomplish more in life. A good example of a person who tries his best is Lance Armstrong, an olympic cyclist. Lance was diagnosed with cancer and it was a high probability of death and his cycling career seemed to be over. However, Lance survived cancer and returned to cycling. He was considered washed up, he was critisized, looked down on, and overlooked, but he overcame the critisism and won the tour de France. It is clear that there will always be doers and watchers in the world. Butno matter if they succeed or fail, the doers will always be farther in life than the watchers.

The author of this quote is a christian heavy metal band. I believe that when the singer says "I am just a man," he means that he, like everyone else, is not perfect. We all make mistakes in our life. "With a heart and sinful hands," means that everyone is capable of loving and caring throughout their life, but at the same time, sin. We sin daily. He is saying that no matter who you are, even if you are the Pope of the world, you still commit sins, whether you know it or not. Jesus died on the cross to forgive all our sins, and that is what the rest of the song's lyrics are about. "I am a fallen victim" could mean two things. One way would be to say, like others, he has fallen for the many deeds of evil we see and act upon daily in today's world. Another way would be to assume that the singer has had an indecent past, and wishes to change for the better, and for a more christian lifestyle. This quote got to me because I believe that everyone has the right to change in their life. I thought it was very true when I listened to it during the song, and I have remembered it since then.

I found this quote while I was searching for the author of another one, and it caught my eye. I read it and I was impressed by how much I actully understood the true meaning behind it. Yea, you can read it and just say you fail, so get back up and try again, but to me it goes deeper than that. To me it is saying if you fail, no matter how many times keep getting up and trying, and keep on trying until you get it right. It only takes one time to succeed you just have to fail until you do. There are many times where I have failed and just gave up on the first few tries, but I realize now how stupid I was not to keep going until i succeeded! Every time I fail now, I will keep trying and trying to achieve whatever it is I want to do. And if I forget and just give up I will read this quote again until I am ready to keep on trying. And I encourage everyone who reads this post to try and fully understand it as I do. Next time when you just cant get something right on the first few tries, to not give up. It may only take one more time to "fall" or a few more times. Trust me though, you will definately be proud of yourself when you do succeed, and you will cherish what you have done a million times more than if you would have just given up at the first bump in the road!

By the time blacks were allowed to play in the majors, Paige was almost 50! He remained in the majors until he retired at the age of 59. He still is the oldest man to ever play professional baseball. When journalists and people from the media would ask him why he was still in the game, he would always reply with this catchy statement. For me it is a good motto to live by. Not only for age but for other things to. It shouldn't matter what anyone else thinks. You are your own person, and if your okay with it then so should everyone else. Plus it sounds really cool.

A couple of months ago my family went out to dinner at a Chinese restaurant. As always, we received fortune cookies. My sister received the one with the quote above, she read it to the family and we all admired how it was well written and how it had such a great meaning, but after a minute or so they moved on to a new topic. I did not. The quote kept ringing in my head. I kept trying to figure out what it meant. Finally it hit me. You can not accomplish anything in life if you are too scared to take the first step. This applies in all aspects of life, from something small, like starting a project to anything as important as becoming the president of the United States. Nothing great in life can be accomplished if you do not take the first step. Most people are too afraid of failure to pursue their dreams, but if you have the courage you can discover something great. There are many people in life who took a great risks and were rewarded for them. To me, this quote means exactly that, go out and follow your dreams, you never know what the reward could be.

This quote is one of the best that I have heard in a long time. Basically, it means that being yourself is the key to finding who really cares about you, and who you should really treasure. True friends are the people in your life who love you and accept you for who you are. They won't turn you away if you don't meet certain standards, and they are more than willing to be there when you need them most. Unlike fairweather friends, or friends who only pretend to care about you, then disappear when the world around you seems to be crumbling from under your feet. It's impossible to truly be yourself when your "friends" are judging you every chance they get. Is it frendship when you can't let go? When you you're scared to reveal your character? Your personality? NO. Not even close. The people who you should treasure love you for who you are. Even the simple things about you, like the way you talk, your pet-peeves, the funny way you laugh, or your different facial expressions. We waste too much time worrying about our little problems that seem so big. But once we get older, our new problems will make us realize how little our problems really were. Therefore, I do my best and try to accomplish everything to the best of my abilities. Like my dad says it doesn't have to be perfect as long as I try my best. There was another quote I had found but decided not to pick that says, "Every man has his follies - and often they are the most interesting thing he's got," by Josh Billings. This means that if everyone was the same it would be so boring. For example, in sports if every player on both teams had the exact strengths and weaknesses then there would be no touchdowns, no yards gained, and eventually no fans. I think that even though one quote was talking about strengths and the other was talking about weaknesses they both relate to each other. In order for us to improve we must know our weaknesses and work to improve them. The lesson we all need to learn is that if we would take advantage of what we have been given we could be a more organized, progressive, and over all a better society.

Last night I was in church and my Pastor was preaching on directions. Are you going your way or the way God wants you to? She said that anything you do effects everthing in your life, like prosperity. It's like , if you only focus on the negitive(or your bad situation) then that's all that's going to proseper. Mr. Hagen was in a certain city(which I don't remember the name of) and there was 1000 people going to a chruch. 90% of that church was being healed and 10% were not. Box of Chocolates

This quote is very meaning to me because life is like a box of chocolates. This quote means that life has many choices, and once you take them you don't know what will happen in the future. There are many choices you make everyday. There are choices that could have good outcomes like making the right choice to study for a test. There are choices that could have negative outcomes like making a choice from peer pressure by smoking a cigarrette or another type of drug. In life try to think about how the outcome will effect you in the long run. Also try to make the right decisions in life. If making the right decision and you get humilliated then you so called friends are not really your friends.
Sometimes when you go out and make a wrong decision by making fun of someone, they could make the wrong decision and begin to do bad things because they get humillated all the time. They could even commit suicide! Sometimes you will make the wrong decision on accident. Nobody is perfect.
Try to make the right choices like Forrest did. He went to the Army and saved many people like Lutenant Dan. Go out and make a difference in the world like making the right choices.

This quote's meaning is that if you follow the crowd and try to be like everyone else, you might fit in but you will soon lose yourself, your individuality will be lost and you'll be like everyone else. Be yourself, even if it has to do with being unique, unusual, an outcast, or even hated is better than becoming like everyone else. Rather than a girl who styles her hair for hours to look perfect vs. a girl who just wakes up and goes is more beautiful and more perfect than the other girl. Also if a person is just all over the place and just crazy is basically pure genius. Rather than being like every body else, it's better to be made fun of because you're your true self, an individual, a person who doesn't look the same as the person next to them. It says that if a person who wakes up every morning to put on make till they think its perfect and fix their hair to perfection sees a person who is different, who's hair just blows in the wind and has the wind blowing in her face without a trace of make up and talks about them and judges them by how they look, it means that the different person is even more better and more prettier than the other person. I wake up everyday, letting my hair do what it wants and not dare to do what makes me look like everyone in the crowd. To me, this quote means that no one can be comfortable being themselves, until they know who they are, and approve of themselves. I think this is a really good quote. Angola's "Shaq"
Okay so I know I already post my quote but get this: I posted what I did yesterday so I wouldn't forget to do it. But then today, we went to a field trip to Angola State Penitentiary and spoke with an inmate who has a life sentence. He's 38 and has been there for 18 years. One of the first few words he said will affect how I look on life along with all the wonderful and wise advice that was given.

I am very involved in music and often fear failure of a test on a musical scale or a competition, like I have Tuesday Dec. 8th (wish me luck), so this tells me that even if I do fail to their "set standards"(~S.S.) that it is not the end of the world as we know it and there will be a time again to redeem myself for myself. I practice hard and I know my tests but I would have to say it is my extreme anxiousness that certainly does not help my mistakes but this insight of knowledge will significantly help me in my future attempts with my music.

This quote means so much to me. I found this quote a while back and from then on I have lived by it. To me, this quote means that possibilities are endless. When people say the sky is the limit, how did the astronauts get to the moon. Endless possibilities allowed the astronauts to go beyond the sky. The quote the sky is the limit is something that I disagree with because in life I believe that there are no limits at all. To have limits in life means that the accomplishments made every day can't become more. This is not true. The way that I live by this quote is because I believe in myself , as in I can do better than what I try. If i give it my 100% I end up with 110% work. A Meaningful Quote

I found this quote not too long ago by Marilyn Monroe and for some reason it appealed to me more than others. It is a quote that can be used in the real world, by people of all ages. For me, this quote reveals how I feel about what others think about me. When you first read the quote, it kind of seems as if she is implying she is better than everyone, but once you read it more, you understand what she is really trying to say. The quote sends out the message that people can think what they want to think, and if they care enough to bother with what I'm doing, or who I am, then I'm already above their level of maturity. Now days, people tend to worry more about who fits in with what group, or how someone acts, rather than the more important things in life. No one appreciates individuality anymore, and it seems by reading this quote that Marilyn Monroe did. I agree with her, and I respect her for being herself no matter what people said about her. Even though it doesn't seem like it, individuality is important. You can fit in with a group, but you can still be your own self. In this world, the people around you try to make you someone else, but it should be a goal to be true to yourself, to be an individual and to be proud about it. Good quotes can go a long way. This quote can relate to many people who say that have nothing else to do so they do time wasting activities or even harmful activities. If you have a dream to strive for then life will never be boring. To me, this is good advice to any person. I can say this from my own personal experience. I know that being in band and studying other music along with being in school I always have something to do. I would like this quote to get out into the open instead of just on a fortune cookie and directed to all adolescence. It can open their eyes and show them that right now their "dream" or goal should be succeeding in school even if they have other plans for their future. Some teenagers may not like to do this because they are not confident they the could do it in the first place. Didn't they use to say, "Reach for the stars," even though it seemed impossible? Well, we reached them eventually. I want this to point out to everyone that they should have dreams and when their done with one then create another. Like reading a good book: when your done are you just going to quit reading? You should find another good book.

The cotton-white; soft
It ran its' demise
For it fell from a loft
Once when the ball only hammered
Tis Hammered the roof away;
He thought he was quite pampered;
Eager he grew; but foolish awhile
For, upon losing his balance
He fell to a stick pile
Onward to The hospital; he rode and rode
The doctor cotton saw him and said,-
"Keep your eyes closed"
Tis on his way home he ran out of luck
For upon hitting a marching ban;
His car just simply blew up!
Higher; higher; tis in the sky;
The cotton released a shout;and hitting the ground;
He Died!

The Match's Game
This is the personification poem we had to write about the object we received with Mr. Howard.
It started with a strike-
Then it came to life-
Excited she'll dance-
And start the romance-
And watch quietly.
A stalker so slow-
She might let me go-
So I can fly free-
With all liberty-
Alongside my own flame.
Slowly, slowly it dies-
With all it's fire that flies-
My chance has past-
My faith did not last-
