“We're so busy watching out for what's just ahead of us that we don't take time to enjoy where we are.” -Calvin and Hobbes
This quote has a significant meaning to me. As freshman, all we can think about is getting our licenses, a job, moving out, and that dream profession of ours. We focus on the future and don’t really get to enjoy what’s going for us now. We spend so much time saying, “Well if I was older…”. When we are older, we will be saying, “Well if I was young again…”. We waste too much time worrying about our little problems that seem so big. But once we get older, our new problems will make us realize how little our problems really were. When we’re young, our mistakes become our parents’ mistakes. Once we get older, it will be all on us. Sure being an adult has its benefits like making your own curfew, eating where you want to eat, and doing something when you feel like doing it. However, with benefits comes responsibility. So why not sit back and enjoy being in the passenger’s seat before we have to get behind the wheel and take on all the responsibility.
I think this quote is so true. We all think doing chores is hard on us now, just wait till we have to wake up every day for our jobs, taxes, pay our speeding tickets, etc. If all we focus on is what's ahead of us, we will never prosper in the present.
ReplyDeleteI truley understand the meaning of this quote, and believe that schools dont ever think this way. I mean school is always forcing us to think about our futures and to do this and study that. For what? So that we can be loaded down with work worried about what's going to happen to us if we dont? And then they tell us to enjoy childhood while it lasts. WE CANT BECAUSE THEY ARE MAKING US WORRY ABOUT OUR FUTURE!! Thats all i have to say.
