To me, the statement means that everything happens for a reason. Something good happening to you can be linked to a terrible day someone else is experiencing Let's say you're at an arcade and your playing a game and you lose, but you get 150 tickets. The situation has now turned in your favor and you finally have enough tickets for the grand prize. You think everything is going well. What you don't see is the mechanic who has been trying to fix the faulty machine, with no luck, is now being fired because the owner feels that the problem was caused by the unlucky mechanic. Your ticket luck is now directly associated with the mechanic, who was having financial trouble, being laid off.
Sometimes you have no idea about how your actions indirectly affect other people. You just have to think about the big picture and how doing one thing may affect 15 people that you don't even know. The Blue Man opened my eyes on this fact. When young Eddie ran in front of The Blue Man's car, he had no idea of what he would soon cause. The fact that we are all connected was one of the biggest things I learned from the book The Five People You Meet in Heaven. It is truly a life lesson.
