The Complexity Of Life

There are no random acts, everything is a domino effect, when one person does something they effect countless others. Everything happens for a reason; and more often than not, we would not understand the reason. Your actions can and will affect many others and you will never know it. Unless you perhaps make it to heaven and have a similar experience to Eddie in the book, The Five People You Meet in Heaven. Like when Eddie was a child and he dropped the ball in the road and went to go get it; Eddie did not know he caused the Blue Man’s death, but later in heaven he found out. Like when a pebble is dropped in water; it causes a big ripple at first then slowly fades away, but the ripple stills exists. And we may never know how far it spreads.

We are all connected, one life is as important as any other. You can no more separate a breeze from the wind than you can successfully determine which human life serves the least purpose. Everyone is put on the Earth for a reason; whether it is to find the cure for cancer or adopt one child from an abusive home. Or in Eddie’s case, to save that little girl’s life at Ruby Pier. No life goes to waste. I believe God can see all the dominoes and understands what will cause what but we as humans cannot fathom that complexity. So we can only make the best decisions possible for now, with the knowledge we have, and hope are ripples and dominoes have a positive effect.
