The Root

The Root

The dictionary definition of love is “a strong positive emotion of affection.” By this definition of love it does not limit the word to one denotation.

He steps onto the bus saying his final goodbyes to his family. He steps onto the plane saying his final goodbye to his country. He steps onto the battlefield saying his final goodbye to the world. He did all of this out of love. He loved his country so much that he gave his most precious love because he loved his country with a deeper, more prized love.

He asks her on a date. They date for awhile. The L-word was said and it only grew stronger. They are forced to break up. Their love did not fade, nor will it fade, their love is still there, their love won’t ever go away but it is hid. Their love has to hide itself and they act like they don’t love each other, when they both know the truth. He never thought twice about loving her she never stopped loving him.

Love is dangerous. Love is the most terrifying thing that I can think of. Love controls everyone’s lives and no one knows it.

There are so many ways to love. Anyone can love a food, an object, a person, and a feeling. People can be so obtuse that they put love on a pedestal with Cupid’s name signed so neatly underneath.

Love is what the world is made out of, the root to everything, good and bad. Love is the answer to so many peoples’ great perhaps and the way out of their own labyrinth.

  1. I very much enjoyed your post and I agreed with what you said about love being terrifying and dangerous but always there.
