A Relatable Charcter
Sometimes the story isn't about how it's written or even about how entertaining it is. Some of the best stories are just those that pull at your heart strings and hit home with you. When I read The Truth About Forever the pure emotions of the story and what the protagonist, Macy, was going through touched my heart and made me feel everything she felt. There were so many things that made me relate to Macy to make this story hit home for me. She had suffered a recent loss of her father and I also lost my dad when I was just four years old. The everyday problem with dealing with the loss of him weighs heavily on me, but reading about her struggles with her own loss helped me cope with mine as well. She also strived to be perfect in every aspect of her life. She wanted to be the perfect student, daughter, and friend. I also strive for perfection, but this story showed being perfect isn't always the best thing for your life. When Macy takes on a summer job in a catering company she not only has to welcome craziness and imperfection into her life she must embrace it. Macy has become one of my favorite literary characters and this story has become one of my favorite stories due to the relatability and message it sends to everyone. It has taught me to not take life too seriously and to embrace the craziness and imperfection it may bring.
