Love in Disguise
My favorite literary character
is Ronnie Miller, from the novel “The Last Song” written by Nicholas Sparks.
Reading this dramatic yet tragic novel has altered my views on life. I personally
believe that Ronnie is a very admirable character throughout the entire novel. In
the beginning of the story, the author portrays Ronnie to be a mean, Gothic, trouble
maker. As the story progresses, Ronnie’s true personality is revealed. She is a
beautiful, caring, and loving young woman, which is not at all what Sparks initially introduced her as. In the story, Ronnie leaves
her fabulous life in New
York to go
spend a summer with her father, who left her family three years ago, to live in
a small town in the south for an entire summer. Ronnie and her father didn’t get along
well; therefore the beginning of their summer had gotten off to a rocky start. As
Ronnie begins to understand why her father left, she completely changes. During
the course of the summer, Ronnie falls in love, gets convicted of a felony, and
strengthens her relationship with her father. I admire Ronnie because she is
such a dynamic character. She goes from being a rude, hateful, and angry
teenager, to being a caring, loving, and thoughtful young woman. I am like Ronnie
in few ways, yet while reading the book I felt so connected to her. To anyone
who is looking to read an amazing love story and a tear jerk-er, I would definitely
suggest “The Last Song.”
