The Overused Term Love

Love is a term that isn't the easiest thing to describe to a person, in fact it's extremely difficult. The dictionary defines love as an intense feeling of affection, with this being said I think the term love itself is abused and used loosely. People say, "I love you," to others they have just met and know nothing about. For example, I believe if a person "loves" someone for their outward appearance, it isn't loving the person at all, but lusting after them. I think being in love with someone is so much more than that. I believe when someone is truly in love with someone else, they will go out of their way to make the other person happy and expect nothing in return. I think when you're in love you share everything about yourself until the person knows every little thing about you, knowing every little imperfection and loving them just as much. Love knows no boundaries, as expressed in Romeo and Juliet. Love isn't about social status, physical attributes, or your last name. Though I haven't experienced being in love, I think it is something so much more complex than these irrelevant things.

  1. You say that love that is expressed in Romeo and Juliet is not about physical attributes, but they only reason they even got married is because they found each other attractive, I am sure Romeo didn't even know Juliet's birthday when they got married.

  3. Sadly this is true. The word love is no longer sacred in this day and age. Now for the most part it is an over used word.
