A Beautiful Gift

Love is said to be a strong passionate feeling towards someone or something, but in my opinion, love is being devalued in todays society. The word is tossed around so carelessly and is often used as a means to get our way, exposing the selfishness of mankind. Love has layers which can stir many different emotions. It can bring us to the highest of highs yet hurt us as no other emotion can. We often put a price tag on love using it as a bartering tool. What right do we have to do so when it has been given to us freely through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Wasn't God's love so much greater for us that he broke his own heart to give us such an awesome gift? It's great to hear "I love you," but even better to feel that you are loved. I know how much love hurts through rejection, I feel it everyday as I walk the halls of our school. The world would be a better place if we loved others as we love ourselves. It saddens me that we are destroying such a beautiful gift. Our hearts should always be ready to give and receive.
