The Greatest Love
Love is one word that most people have a difficult time explaining. Love is one emotion that we really do not know how to put into words. Although we cannot explain the word love we use it many times throughout our daily lives. We constantly say we love something or someone. You may say that you love your parents or your family and you truly do. There is many times however, that we say we love something that we really do not. We say we love things that cannot even love us in return. It could be a purse in the store that you think you must have, it could be your newest phone, or maybe it is your favorite foods. We say we love things all the time, but what is love? In John 15:13 it says “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” This means that we should not say that we love someone or something unless we are willing to lay down our life for it. Jesus showed the greatest love anyone could show when he died on the cross for us. Throughout the Bible the word love is used many times. God is the ultimate example of love. “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”1 John 4:8. The Bible calls us to love him first above all else and then secondly love everyone else. “Jesus said to him, 'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:37–39. Love is such an important word that is often overused.

Wow Madeline! That was great! I really liked how you used multiple bible verses:) I agree that we overuse the word love when we do not really mean it. God's love really is the greatest love.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you! In this day and age, "I love you" is a phrase that is so misused and overused, we forget its meaning. Instead, we should put God first in our lives and follow his example of love. Great job!
