Love's True Purpose
What is the purpose of love? Our society today would suggest that love is a self-pleasing emotion. But that is not the way that God intended for love to be. Love is meant to be a giving action, not a self-centered emotion. Love is a very strong thing. It can be very powerful. Song of Songs 8:6-7 says, "....For love is as strong as death, its jealousy as enduring as the grave. Love flashes like fire, the brightest kind of flame. Many waters cannot quench love, nor can rivers drown it. If a man tried to buy love with all his wealth, his offer would be utterly scorned." The true purpose for love, God's purpose, is for love to be used for his glory. God wants us to show his love in everything we do. God is love. God's love is the most powerful thing we could ever imagine. God conquered death through his son to show his love for us. No other love could ever compare to God's love for us. His love conquers all.

I agree Ashlyn! This reminds me of 1 John 4:8, "Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
