The quote, "That there are no random acts. that we are all connected. that you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind" from The Five People You Meet in Heaven means that nothing just happens, it's all for a reason. The actions people make don’t just affect them, the actions affect other people as well. Everyone and every action is connected to another making us all somehow connected. The things that we cause somehow affect other people; sometimes in small ways, other times in big ways. For example, in the book when Eddie ,the maintenance man, was a child he ran in the road in front of a car to get his ball and was almost hit. The driver swerved out of the way but ended up having a heart attack because of it and died. If the man had not swerved, Eddie would have died and he would have lived. Eddie's choices led to the action of the man having a heart attack, making these two strangers connected. Even if they didn’t realize it, their lives were intertwined. By the driver dying and Eddie living, Eddie was able to save a life. He later gave up his life in order to save a little girl from a falling cart. If the driver had hit Eddie, the little girl would have never been saved and would have also died. The driver's action led to Eddie being able to save the girl. Everyone's lives intersect and are connected whether people notice or not. Wind is full of little breezes mixed together. You can't separate the breezes, just as you cant separate all the connected lives.

Connected Lives
