The Mystery of Kismet

Every action we do affects others in some way, whether it would be in a negative or positive light. In the end though, everything happens for a reason.
That quote means a good bit to me. It has helped me with past issues that have now become resolved inside of myself. A few years back my cousin accidentally killed himself by misfiring a gun. It took me a long time to get over it and once I did, I saw that his death had caused a chain reaction in people's lives.
To me, this quote means that everything happens for a reason.

There are no random acts, whether it be accidentally spilling something on your shirt before a meeting or helping a homeless man on the street by giving him a few cents. Both of these actions occur to many people around the world but the reasons for any action regardless either in favor or not in favor are deemed, “a chance of pure luck” or “a cruel twist of kismet”. When in all actuality, it is neither. Let's go back to the homeless man on the street. Someone might have seen your kind act and decided that they would do one themselves, they could've paid for someone else's order in line because of the kind act before that they saw from you. Something that could've happened to someone else may have changed a slight difference in the other life and another change to another person. It's all connected. Just like the Blue Man states, “You can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind”.

Everything in life as we receive it, is sometimes clouded by our feelings of guilt, joy, and many others. Sometimes we see it through rose colored glasses, blocking out all the wrong doings or events and instead looking towards a hopeful future. Or else, we can choose to see life as it comes and goes. Sure, something will happen here and there, who knows how it will end up? In this story Eddie has instead kept his anger and memories and chose for them to become his partners throughout the rest of his life. Even after his rough times he still chose to not look up in life. Instead he continued to drown in his memories and look for comfort there instead. Everything happens for a reason, and Eddie loosing track of time and all sense of reality while he's working at the pier is a good example of it. His stubborn actions actually helps his purpose in life from the beginning. What I mean by help is not what you or I would think it is. This kind of help is more like a gradual elevation to what he was created for. Everything from his father’s abuse to his wife’s death and everything after and in between has made him lead up to his purpose in this world: to protect children and keep them safe.
