I found this quote while I was searching for the author of another one, and it caught my eye. I read it and I was impressed by how much I actully understood the true meaning behind it. Yea, you can read it and just say you fail, so get back up and try again, but to me it goes deeper than that. To me it is saying if you fail, no matter how many times keep getting up and trying, and keep on trying until you get it right. It only takes one time to succeed you just have to fail until you do. There are many times where I have failed and just gave up on the first few tries, but I realize now how stupid I was not to keep going until i succeeded! Every time I fail now, I will keep trying and trying to achieve whatever it is I want to do. And if I forget and just give up I will read this quote again until I am ready to keep on trying. And I encourage everyone who reads this post to try and fully understand it as I do. Next time when you just cant get something right on the first few tries, to not give up. It may only take one more time to "fall" or a few more times. Trust me though, you will definately be proud of yourself when you do succeed, and you will cherish what you have done a million times more than if you would have just given up at the first bump in the road!

This has always been one of my favorite quotes. To understand the quote you would have to understand the man that said it. Satchel Paige was an African American baseball player who played in the Negro Leagues for many years. He is considered by some to be one of the greatest pitchers to ever play the game. By the time blacks were allowed to play in the majors, Paige was almost 50! He remained in the majors until he retired at the age of 59. He still is the oldest man to ever play professional baseball. When journalists and people from the media would ask him why he was still in the game, he would always reply with this catchy statement. For me it is a good motto to live by. Not only for age but for other things to. It shouldn't matter what anyone else thinks. You are your own person, and if your okay with it then so should everyone else. Plus it sounds really cool.

A couple of months ago my family went out to dinner at a Chinese restaurant. As always, we received fortune cookies. My sister received the one with the quote above, she read it to the family and we all admired how it was well written and how it had such a great meaning, but after a minute or so they moved on to a new topic. I did not. The quote kept ringing in my head. I kept trying to figure out what it meant. Finally it hit me. You can not accomplish anything in life if you are too scared to take the first step. This applies in all aspects of life, from something small, like starting a project to anything as important as becoming the president of the United States. Nothing great in life can be accomplished if you do not take the first step. Most people are too afraid of failure to pursue their dreams, but if you have the courage you can discover something great. There are many people in life who took a great risks and were rewarded for them. To me, this quote means exactly that, go out and follow your dreams, you never know what the reward could be.

This quote stood out to me because it is so true. No matter what you do in your life, you can always turn your life around and start over. You can't take back any mistakes you made in the past, but you can always change who you want to be. Life isn't all about the past, it's mainly about the present. The things you do now will affect your future, but it's never too late to change it. I feel like a lot of people don't think they can start over, but they can. No matter what it's about, it could be about small things like your grades or even life-changing things, you can start over. Everyone deserves a chance at a successful life. Even if they aren't on that path right now, they could be if they really tried. Nobody should feel like they can't change who they are. This quote I feel can affect anybody in a certain way. Whether it is true to you or not, it will definately help people know they can change themselves.

This quote is one of the best that I have heard in a long time. Basically, it means that being yourself is the key to finding who really cares about you, and who you should really treasure. True friends are the people in your life who love you and accept you for who you are. They won't turn you away if you don't meet certain standards, and they are more than willing to be there when you need them most. Unlike fairweather friends, or friends who only pretend to care about you, then disappear when the world around you seems to be crumbling from under your feet. It's impossible to truly be yourself when your "friends" are judging you every chance they get. Is it frendship when you can't let go? When you you're scared to reveal your character? Your personality? NO. Not even close. The people who you should treasure love you for who you are. Even the simple things about you, like the way you talk, your pet-peeves, the funny way you laugh, or your different facial expressions. The way we act and treat others shows the true uniqueness of our heart. The people who willingly accept that uniqueness are the ones that matter most.

A Quote That Means a Lot to Me

This quote has a significant meaning to me. As freshman, all we can think about is getting our licenses, a job, moving out, and that dream profession of ours. We focus on the future and don’t really get to enjoy what’s going for us now. We spend so much time saying, “Well if I was older…”. When we are older, we will be saying, “Well if I was young again…”. We waste too much time worrying about our little problems that seem so big. But once we get older, our new problems will make us realize how little our problems really were. When we’re young, our mistakes become our parents’ mistakes. Once we get older, it will be all on us. Sure being an adult has its benefits like making your own curfew, eating where you want to eat, and doing something when you feel like doing it. However, with benefits comes responsibility. So why not sit back and enjoy being in the passenger’s seat before we have to get behind the wheel and take on all the responsibility.

I enjoyed this quote because I believe that it doesn't matter what you have, it's how you use it. I also believe it is easier to fix a lack of knowledge than it is to fix a stubborn mind. My mom, who is a Language teacher, has taught me that sometimes it is not the people who struggle because of their weaknesses that get behind, but those that are unwilling to receive the help. I know that sometimes I get behind in my schoolwork or with my chores and as soon as my parents see my grades slip or they walk past an unclean room, I can expect an hour long speech that mentions the word "responsibility" six billion times. Therefore, I do my best and try to accomplish everything to the best of my abilities. Like my dad says it doesn't have to be perfect as long as I try my best. There was another quote I had found but decided not to pick that says, "Every man has his follies - and often they are the most interesting thing he's got," by Josh Billings. This means that if everyone was the same it would be so boring. For example, in sports if every player on both teams had the exact strengths and weaknesses then there would be no touchdowns, no yards gained, and eventually no fans. I think that even though one quote was talking about strengths and the other was talking about weaknesses they both relate to each other. In order for us to improve we must know our weaknesses and work to improve them. The lesson we all need to learn is that if we would take advantage of what we have been given we could be a more organized, progressive, and over all a better society.

Last night I was in church and my Pastor was preaching on directions. Are you going your way or the way God wants you to? She said that anything you do effects everthing in your life, like prosperity. It's like , if you only focus on the negitive(or your bad situation) then that's all that's going to proseper. Mr. Hagen was in a certain city(which I don't remember the name of) and there was 1000 people going to a chruch. 90% of that church was being healed and 10% were not. Mr. Hagen was taking notes of this[and with good intentions] started to pray and fast for the 10%. That number seemed to increase over time. This went on until the numbers had reversed and 10% were getting healed and 90% were unhealed. He was like "God I've been praying and praying and fasting for these numbers. What happened?" God told him my quote. Don't focus on the negitive but on the positive, then that will prosper and so will you.

Box of Chocolates

This quote is very meaning to me because life is like a box of chocolates. This quote means that life has many choices, and once you take them you don't know what will happen in the future. There are many choices you make everyday. There are choices that could have good outcomes like making the right choice to study for a test. There are choices that could have negative outcomes like making a choice from peer pressure by smoking a cigarrette or another type of drug. In life try to think about how the outcome will effect you in the long run. Also try to make the right decisions in life. If making the right decision and you get humilliated then you so called friends are not really your friends.
Sometimes when you go out and make a wrong decision by making fun of someone, they could make the wrong decision and begin to do bad things because they get humillated all the time. They could even commit suicide! Sometimes you will make the wrong decision on accident. Nobody is perfect.
Try to make the right choices like Forrest did. He went to the Army and saved many people like Lutenant Dan. Go out and make a difference in the world like making the right choices.

This quote's meaning is that if you follow the crowd and try to be like everyone else, you might fit in but you will soon lose yourself, your individuality will be lost and you'll be like everyone else. Be yourself, even if it has to do with being unique, unusual, an outcast, or even hated is better than becoming like everyone else. Rather than a girl who styles her hair for hours to look perfect vs. a girl who just wakes up and goes is more beautiful and more perfect than the other girl. Also if a person is just all over the place and just crazy is basically pure genius. Rather than being like every body else, it's better to be made fun of because you're your true self, an individual, a person who doesn't look the same as the person next to them. It says that if a person who wakes up every morning to put on make till they think its perfect and fix their hair to perfection sees a person who is different, who's hair just blows in the wind and has the wind blowing in her face without a trace of make up and talks about them and judges them by how they look, it means that the different person is even more better and more prettier than the other person. Normal people surrounded with beauty aren't the guidelines to what is truly beautiful. Definable things are not beautiful it's the situations, people, and ideas. This quote means a lot to me, I read it when I was in 6th grade and I tried to live by it especially since I entered high school. Even though I see people who have make up that looks like it took like 10 hours and hair dos that look like it took 100 hours, people like that all look the same to me. I wake up everyday, letting my hair do what it wants and not dare to do what makes me look like everyone in the crowd. Rather than acting like everyone at school, I try my best to be myself, I don't let people look down on me because of how I act or how I speak because this is me. I set myself out of the crowd, I don't hang out with people who will make me become like everyone else. Pretty much if you're imperfect you're beautiful, if you are crazy, you're a genius and it's better to be crazy and different than absolutely boring.

I was looking up quotes for this blog, and this quote really stood out. To me, this quote means that no one can be comfortable being themselves, until they know who they are, and approve of themselves. I think this is a really good quote. In my opinion, I think everyone should be comfortable just being themselves, even if other people don't approve. It should only matter what you think of yourself. If other people think you're strange or different, just by looking at you from the outside, then they could be missing out on getting to know a great person, from the inside. But, that's just their loss. I think, this quote is telling you to just be who you are!

Angola's "Shaq"

Okay so I know I already post my quote but get this: I posted what I did yesterday so I wouldn't forget to do it. But then today, we went to a field trip to Angola State Penitentiary and spoke with an inmate who has a life sentence. He's 38 and has been there for 18 years. One of the first few words he said will affect how I look on life along with all the wonderful and wise advice that was given.

This is a quote by someone who often thinks of failure because of his situation but can still tell himself everything is fine. I am very involved in music and often fear failure of a test on a musical scale or a competition, like I have Tuesday Dec. 8th (wish me luck), so this tells me that even if I do fail to their "set standards"(~S.S.) that it is not the end of the world as we know it and there will be a time again to redeem myself for myself. I practice hard and I know my tests but I would have to say it is my extreme anxiousness that certainly does not help my mistakes but this insight of knowledge will significantly help me in my future attempts with my music.

A Meaningful Quote

This quote means so much to me. I found this quote a while back and from then on I have lived by it. To me, this quote means that possibilities are endless. When people say the sky is the limit, how did the astronauts get to the moon. Endless possibilities allowed the astronauts to go beyond the sky. The quote the sky is the limit is something that I disagree with because in life I believe that there are no limits at all. To have limits in life means that the accomplishments made every day can't become more. This is not true. The way that I live by this quote is because I believe in myself , as in I can do better than what I try. If i give it my 100% I end up with 110% work. With endless possibilities everyone can succeed in something. If endless possibilities were not here the world would not be the way it is today. This quote may have a simple meaning, but I believe that it has a more in depth meaning to it. If your in love, then you will know what it is like to desire and be desired by your lover. Love is a powerful thing, and if you love someone, show no interest to any other, for you must "irresistibly" love or desire the one whom you love. I believe that the desire to desire someone, then this quote will give you an understanding of what it truly means to be in love. This quote is very special to me because I believe that all that are in love will be helped by these kinds of quotes.

John F. Kennedy said these famous words at his 1961 inauguration. In his speech he talked about how great the United States is, and that it is our responsibility to make it better. He knew that to lead,he had to serve. Selflessness should always be above selfishness. He stressed that helping others is more important than personal gain. We should be servants, not receivers. As president, Kennedy had to look beyond what the country could do for him, and look for what he could do for his country. I believe we should do this everyday. Instead of wondering what other people can do for us today, we should ask if there is anything we can do for someone else. John F. Kennedy put his country before himself... we should learn to put others before ourselves. This quote was relevant in 1961, and is still relevant in 2009.
