My Hero

The word hero is usually used to describe someone swooping in to save the day. Being able to fly, or run super fast are not the specialties a hero has to obtain. A hero, in my opinion, is someone I admire for their special qualities, and the sacrifices they make for the good of others. A true hero shows bravery at the darkest of times. They have the courage to stand up for what is right, when no one else will! Heroes do not back down when times are difficult, they keep fighting until they succeed. Many people have these characteristics, and are heroes without even noticing! There are heroes everywhere doing everyday things. A hero could be a person standing up to a bully, or someone simply bringing a hot meal to someone unable to make one them self. To me, my friends and family are my heroes because they are there for me. They pick me up whenever I fall, give me a boost to get through life, and when I need advice and someone to talk to they will be there. They are my heroes!

Spiderman, Superman, Or My Grandmother?

What is a hero based on my definition? When a young child hears the word hero they think of Spiderman or Superman. Yet, to me a hero isn’t always someone who saves a bystander from a building collapsing. To me, a hero could also be someone who would go out of their way to help you, even in the most trivial situations. I have grown to learn that the greatest hero I have ever personally known is my own grandmother. She gets up every day to work with the special education students at her school. When I visit her there I find her teaching these “special” children the right way to pronounce a word. Sometimes, even the way to announce you must go to the restroom. Even though she does not admit to it, she helps these children in more ways than you can possibly fathom. The thought of having the patience is very hard for me to comprehend. She has come home having sprained her wrist trying to save one of her children from the bullying of another student. To me this is the true act of a hero and my grandmother is the ultimate example.

Never Fear

Despite what most people think, heroes are not only people like Batman and Wonder Woman. They do not fly around saying, "Never fear, Underdog is here!" According to Webster's Dictionary, a hero is "A man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities." I partly agree with this and partly disagree. I agree that heroes are highly admired for all that they do. but I disagree that a hero always shows bravery. For example, a doctor preforms surgery everyday, and does not have to be courageous, but can still save and change a life. Another example is a role model. They can have a huge impact on someone's life without even knowing it. Role models may not have to put in any effort or bravery to change someone's life. I believe the most significant hero is the police because everyday they go out of their way to help protect the community and keep it crime free. When the public runs away from dangerous situations, the police are the first to face it head on. I think one thing we all should remember are the real heroes in our community instead of the heroes that claim we should "Never Fear".

Forget the spandex

Everyone's definition of a hero is different. Some believe that heroes are the guys who wear spandex outfits, with their underwear on top, and a cape. While others believe that heroes are everyday people. I believe that anyone can be a hero. My definition of a hero is someone who would do anything without a selfish thought. A true hero is brave, honest, helpful, and so on. An example of what a hero is to me would be a fireman. They selflessly risk their lives to save people trapped in fires. An other example of a hero are all our solders. They risk their lives for our freedom. There are heroes all around us. They just don't wear spandex suits, or their underwear on top, or capes. They're just everyday people, who do extraordinary things.

The True Heroes

Everyone, sometime throughout their lifetime, is asked the simple question about what a hero is in their words. A hero can be any person, anywhere, at anytime. If you looked around right now you could probably see a hero in plain sight. He might not be doing anything heroic but there will be a point somewhere throughout their life where they will help somebody and show their true heroics. A hero can be someone who protects others, sticks up for others, or keeps people out of harms way, but a hero can be much more than that. To be a hero, could be just doing a simple task to help another person on a problem they might be having. Everyone could take the simple duty of being an everyday hero. You don't have to go around looking for trouble to show your heroics, you can just take a little of your time to go out the way to help others. Everyday heroes can include police officers, firefighters, or paramedics but they encourage you to help out and be good to others which can make the person helping out or being nice to others a hero too. There is not any superheroes in this world,that we know of, but everyday heroes are all around us. They are surrounding us and the population of heroes is growing due to the everyday heroes taking a few minutes of there day to help others for common good. To be a hero, you don't need a disguise, a cool name, tights, a cape, a mask, or anything like that. You just need to find the need to help others out and do things to help out other people in order to show your true heroics and how much superpower you truly have.

What Makes a Hero?

Superman. Batman. Those are just names. What is a hero? Is it someone that inspires you? Is it someone that happens to walk by on the street? Heroes do not always wear costumes. Most don't see the true value of a hero. People look at the content on the outside and don't see what the inside holds. A hero could be defined as the one person that does for others instead of themselves. My hero is my great-grandfather. He has helped me view life in ways that I did not think were possible. Anyone can be a hero but first you must look past the faults.

Does a hero always have to fly?

It's a bird! It's a plane! No! It's Superman! Does a hero always have to be fictional? Do they always have to wear silly costumes? What IS a true hero? My definition of a hero would not be someone that saves lives. Although, that may be someone else's. To me, the meaning of a hero would be a person I look up to. A person that cares for me, and helps me whenever I need it most. In my case, it would be my nana. I look up to her like no other person. She has taught me so many life lessons that I live by everyday. In my eyes, a hero is an everyday person, whether you know them personally, or you do not know them very well at all. Next time you think about what a hero REALLY is, consider this, do they always have to fly?

What Makes Superman so Great?

What makes Superman so great? People all around the world love Superman because he is a hero. Even though he is fictional he is the embodiment of classic hero traits. For example, Superman saves people in distress and helps those in need. The definition of a hero is a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. Heroes in our reality do not always look as impressive as the ones in Marvel Comics on the outside, but every hero has a heart of gold. Heroes in our world do not possess super physical strength, but they do possess super emotional strength. They can not penetrate walls with their eyes ,but they do have the ability to see through people and discover the truth and lies in someones heart. Our modern day hero is a person who puts others before themselves, protects the weak, and is an ally for whoever might need one. Some heroes we see every day are policemen, who keep order in a disheveled world, and teachers , who educate whole generations . Heroes are not always what we expect them to be . Heroes are sometimes neighbors and other times they are complete strangers. Superman may have been great, but I think the heroes in everyday life are real super men .

What makes someone a hero

Many ways, someone can be classified as a hero. They can have super powers while fighting crime. Thats the general idea of a hero. My idea of a hero is way different than what abunch of people. To me, a hero is someone who is constantly fighting either to save a person from a fire or fighting in a war against another country for his native land. A soldier is my favorite hero. They fight for our country everyday when deployed. They take little pay in return for having to kill many men, which drives some to the point of going crazy.Firemen just as much, take on fires constently to save the lives of others. They as well, get little reward in return. So, to me a hero is someone who is selfless and is willing to die for anybody in danger of losing their own life. One day, I hope to be in their shoes paying back what they've done for us and the next generation after that, until the second coming, when our true hero Christ saves us all.

What a Hero is to Me

People have many definitions on what a hero actually is. Some think they are strong and can fly or they think of police officers and firefighters. When I think about heros, both of those things come to mind however; then I think deeper of all of the other people I consider heros. A hero to me is someone that is nice or someone who is truly selfless. People that go out of their way to help you. I would definitely consider soliders heros. They are risking their lives for us. My uncle was a solider and he told me how hard it is but, when you remember why you are doing it, it is worth it. People in my life that are heros are my friends and my family, especially my older sister Ashton. They really help me handle the stress of school, dance and my everday life. I know that they will be there for me and pick me up when I need it. I think everyone has some sort of hero in their lives. Some people may be there own hero, depending on their lives and things they have had to deal with. When it comes down to it a hero to me is someone you look up to and someone that is a good role model.

A Special Heart.

Many people potray heros as people with super powers. A true hero can be a person who is selfless. A person that goes out of their way to save somebody from harm. People all around us do things that make the world go round. Fireman putting out raging house fires and rushing people out. Police risk there lives on the line and keep our streets clean of crime. The docters that does their best to save that a patient that almost got away. Many of America's heros are over seas and fighting for us. Heros are all around us. Parents are heros for raising you throught good and bad. We may not recognize it, but they are. They do not have super powers and they still do what they do. It takes a special heart to be a true hero. :)

An Unlikely Hero

When you ask most people what a hero is, they would tell you someone who defeats bad guys and saves the city, like Superman or Batman. Others might tell you parents, teachers, or firefighters. A hero can be anything. To me, heroes are brave, kind, more concerned of others than of themselves. If that is someone with superhuman strength wearing tights, so be it. I think heroes are more everyday people that you can find most anywhere. My hero is my great aunt. She has raised her children, and her grandchildren. She never complains and assures everyone else is settled before becoming comfortable herself. She is currently in the battle of a lifetime. She handles it with the utmost grace and serenity. To do all of this and still have the kind spirit she does makes her someone one of the bravest, most heroic people I know. She exemplifies what a true hero is: brave, tireless, caring, and kind.

A Hero

Usually, when someone thinks of a hero they automatically think of the fictional superheroes in movies and books. Superheroes like Batman or Spiderman. To me, though a hero is much more than a person that comes to the rescue for people in need. A hero should also be courageous and noble. A hero should be a person that would risk their life to protect other people. Like a fireman will go into a burning building to save the people inside. Police officers also risk their lives to save other people. They stop drinking and driving, speeders, and also have to arrest some people that could hurt them, but they do it anyway. Doctors can save people lives by performing surgeries. In my opinion there are a lot of different definitions for hero, but anyone can be a hero if they want to. You may even be a hero and you don't know it.

A True Hero

The definition of a hero to me would be someone who is very brave and noble. The first thing that pops up in my mind when I think about a hero is all those superhero cartoons I use to watch when I was really young. Those kind of heros, however, do not exsist. A hero can be anybody, like me or you that does something bold and brave to help a cause. Being a hero can be something as simple as being generous or donating money or your time to someone less fortunate. Those kinds of things as simple as that are considered to be heroic acts. Some people do heroic things and might not even know that they are being a hero. One of my friends that goes to my church did a very awesome heroic act and he might not even realize it. He dated a girl for a few years who didn't believe in God when they first started dating. As the relationship went on, they started reading verses in the Bible together and started to have small Bible studies over the phone and in person. Because of him dating this girl, he became a christian example to her and helped her to believe in God. She recently got saved and accepted Christ into her life. By my friend dating her and helping her, he saved her life. He didn't save her life physically, he saved her life eternally. Because of him, she has a wonderful life in heaven in store for her. He was bold and brave in his beliefs and was not ashamed or selfish in sharing them. To me, that is a true example of a hero!

A Hero?

Upon hearing the word “hero”, just about everyone would think of Superman, Bat Man, Spiderman, or any other famous fictional superhero. However, the definition of a hero is someone who is distinguished my by extraordinary courage, nobility, and selflessness. Many different types of heroes exist in the real world. They may not be able to fly or have superhuman strength, but they save lives in many other ways. A firefighter helps put out fires and is the one to go into a burning house to save someone they more than likely have never seen before. A police officer catches people who are speeding or are drinking and driving to help stop a dangerous and possibly fatal accident from occurring. A doctor can perform a surgery that can save someone’s life. Most people who haven’t had their lives, or a family member or friend, saved by one of these people don’t view these people as heroes, but they are. My father and mother both have had doctors change their lives; my father was saved from losing his legs and an arm, while my mother was saved from a life in pain, not knowing why. And now my parents can continue being a hero in their own ways. My dad is a mechanic, and an extraordinarily good one at that. My mother is a computer wizard and constantly keeps our networking safe from people who want to try and find out where we are. Anyone can be a hero. Even if you don’t think that you could ever be a hero, you have the potential to be.
