Blue collar..............Or Blue cape?

When I was younger I thought my Daddy was a superhero, what little girl doesn't? It's only now that I realize just how right I was. Because blue cape, or blue collar he's twice hero than superman could ever be.
He can overcome any challenge, battle any (theoretical)demon, and can cook some mean mashed potato's. All without thought of his own well being, only that of those he loves, and moreover protects.
For the past twenty-three years my Daddy has fought hard, alongside my mom against R.R.P, and was strong and brave for her all those years even knowing he could lose her. Well, we recently recived news that brought the twenty-three year battle has reached a whole new level of scary. My mother, who's now forty-six was diagnosed with stage three,non-smoking lung cancer(from papalomas that decended down from her esophagus to her lungs and mutated). On top of that we almost lost her last year to an intestinal kink...most people would have broken down by now, right?
Well not my Daddy, he wasn't named after one of the Lords toughest, disciples for nothing. Twenty-three years, and twenty-five anniversaries later, he remains strong.Now, not only for my mom, but for my sister, myself, along with their families and friends.
Plus, he has had his mother-in-law living with him for the past seven weeks.That's more pressure than most men endure in a life time. Put it all together and anyone would see that this blue-collar family-man, is a class-A Hercules.He's even got the Madi-Grass costume to prove it!

Hero.....Good Word For It

Some dictionaries define a hero as a powerful person who saves entire cities from crime. Those dictionaries are right in comics and movies, but other than that, they are dead wrong. My vision of a hero is someone who goes out of their way for someone. Someone who drops what they are doing to rush to your side. They are not afraid to stick up for you or anyone else. However they also teach you how to prevent it from happening again. It's not a superhuman with the ability to lift cars or run at the speed of light. It's a normal person doing the right thing. Whether it be helping you get your self confidence. Or if they prevent you from getting hurt in any way. To me, my grandma is a hero. She is everything I typed here today and so much more.

A Hero

      A hero. What exactly is a hero? Most people would define a hero as someone that saves another person. To me, a hero is someone who is always there for you. They can save you, but save you mostly in hard times. When you need them the most you can always count on them. A hero is not going to be someone who is your best friend one day then go and talk about you behind your back. A real hero keeps their friends secrets. A real hero helps someone pick up their books when someone else knocks them out their hands. A real hero isn't the one picking on someone. To me, a real hero is God. He is there for everyone, and never turns on them. He helps them through the good and the bad times. I can trust him with anything and he always catches me when i fall. He is always there when I want to talk and even is there if i don't feel like talking. I can't think of a better hero. So, that is what I think a hero is, and my hero is God.

Powers are for Wimps

You do not need to have a special power to be a hero. Anyone that strives to be a hero, can succeed if they try their absolute hardest. A hero is someone who puts their heart into everything they do. The hero might have to put his or her life on the line if the duty calls for it. My personal hero is my deceased grandfather. Everything he did,even if he did not want to do it, he put in 110%. He was also a cop for 20 years and a security gaurd at the state capitol for ten years. A general hero to me, is a detective because everytime he gets a case, he puts out everything he has to find the criminal. Sometimes they have to stay up all night and work. They might have to question nine people in two days, and he acts with the same sturdiness as if the ninth was the first. My grandpa and a detective have nothing in common except that they give it their all for everything. A hero can be anyone in the world, if they are up to the task.

My Hero

What makes someone a hero? To me, a hero is someone courageous, fearless, brave, and willing to put another person's life ahead of their own. Someone who is ready for a challenge and won't back down. A person who is a good role model and sets high standards. Someone who is honest, trustworthy, loving, caring, and helpful. My hero would be my mother because she has always been there for me, and always will be there. She has taught me right from wrong, guided me in decision making, and always pushes me to my limits. She has provided a roof over my head and food to eat. My mom is a counselor. She helps people cope with their problems, so she always encourages me and always gives the best advice. She is always really tough on me, and expects 110 percent. However, she is also very caring and sincere. These are the things that make my mom, my hero.

The Everyday Hero

The definition of a hero is a person distinguished by exceptional courage, nobility, and strength. The first thing we all think of when we imagine a hero is a man with a cape who comes in at the exact moment he is needed and saves the day. The hero is always the one who offers his protection often at the risk of his own safety and then is admired for his bravery. Although we all know that there are no men who fly around in capes, there are many heroic people. Heroes are not always brought to your attention, in fact, sometimes they do not want recognition; all they want is to help others. In my opinion, that is the most admirable type of hero. For example, the woman who has lost her husband and now has to raise her kids all alone. She is working many part time jobs just to provide for her family. She is a hero that does not get any credit, but is doing amazing things. Many firemen and policemen are heroes who work so hard to create a safe world for us, that they risk their own lives everyday. Even the people who give their time and money to help those in need who could have used it for themselves but gladly gave it away. Anyone can be a hero because sometimes all it takes is just standing up for someone else and putting their needs before yours. I would have to say that even though I agree that a hero is courageous, noble, and strong, I think just as importantly, a hero is someone who is giving, kind, and selfless.

The True Hero

I believe the makings of a true hero include three main things. They are bravery, selflessness, and strong will power. I also believe a true hero must have all three of these qualities. Many people have one or two of the qualities, however few have all three. There are many true heroes in the United States. They are all around us and defend us. Not only do they defend, they go and fight for us wherever there is need. They go across sea's and endure extremely harsh conditions. Not only for their family and friends, but for Americans they don't know. These heroes leave their families to go protect our nation. They are usually not known and often unappreciated. These heroes serve in the United States Military.

Mothers, Unsung Heroes

How are mothers heroes you ask? Well, mothers are heroes in many ways. Both mothers and everyday heroes are responsible people willing to sacrifice life, time, and money to help others. In most cases, mothers are the ones who raise children and shape and mold their lives. They provide instruction and knowledge for their children about the world among us, heal us when we are sick, help us through hard times, and put up with all of our nagging. Mothers are the family caretakers and counselors, while the fathers are the providers and protecters. Together they form a strong team equipped to take on anything. Though married mothers are heroes, the single mothers do the work of two! They take care of and make time their kids all while working to put food on the table. In single parent situations, one person is in charge of everything with no help. That takes a lot of bravery, especially for a woman! Heroes are found everywhere, mothers are just some of the few heroes not regularly thought of. They are women, hear them roar!

Heroes Walk Among Us

Typically, when the word hero is mentioned, people think of the obvious tight and cape clothed comic book characters like Superman, Spiderman, and so on. These fictional characters do not impress me that much. They have enemies and secret identities. To me, a hero should not have to hide their good deeds from the world and should care for all people despite how bad they may be. A hero saves the day and sometimes risks their own life to save others. Bravery, courageous, and selflessness are a few words I would use to describe a hero. The best example of everyday heroes are charity organizations. Some of these non-profit groups donate money and care for people they do not even know. Without their help, it would be harder for cancer patients to receive the right treatments. You could be someone's hero and not even know it. Saving a person's life could be as simple as showing appreciation for someone who may not have felt loved before. I believe everyone has the power within themselves to possess a hero's traits. Heroes give other people hope when there is barely any left.

A Hero at Heart

When we were little and our teachers asked us who were our heroes, what was our answer? It was some kind of super hero we saw on t.v. or on the toy aisle at the store, like Spiderman and Superwoman. But as we got older our definition of a true hero changed and we did not think about superheroes anymore. In my own opinion, a hero is someone who strives to do the good and right things in life, and they always put others before themselves. A hero is someone who helps others, and they do it because it is the right thing; not because it was forced upon them. They do not think about themselves when committing to a task that would benefit others. Most importantly, a hero is a person who shows love for others and has a big heart. They also have hope and faith, even in the worst of situations. I can not say that I have one hero, I have multiple. My heroes are the troops out fighting for our country and our safety. They voluntarily risk their own lives trying to save others. Within the blink of an eye they are out protecting us because of their sincere love for us and our country. These soldiers are true heros without a doubt.

A Hero

What is a hero? When many people think of the word hero, they think of the people in comic books and movies, the people who wear a costume, have superpowers, and fight crime. Or, some may think of a policeman, fireman, or doctor. I think that all of these people are heroes. They are brave, courageous, and strong. Does this mean that you have to save lives everyday in order to be a hero? No. To me, a true hero is someone that stands up for what they believe in, who thinks about others first, and most importantly, is kind. Many people do heroic acts everyday. To me, you can be a hero by simply caring for the people around you. Or by doing work for the community. Such as helping the elderly, donating clothes or money for the poor, and working at a daycare with children. A true hero does not have to wear a cape. A true hero is someone who willing to give up part of their lives, in order to help others.

According to reference.com "A man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds is a hero." And I could not agree more with that. I beleive heros are just your average everyday human who do, and have done things that have impacted not just their lives but many others. My grandfather for instance is a hero to me, my mom, my dad, and all three of my sisters. He has done so much for us; starting with enrolling in the army. He risked his life signing up to go fight for not just his and my family but for his and my country. He has taught me everything from how to treat a girl to how to build a motocycle. He has raised my mother, braught my father hunting, teaching him every thing there is to know about it. And taken care of my sisters many times since birth. And he is in great shape, still giving. The list goes on but my summary is ending. He is my Poppy and my hero and always will be.

What's a Hero?

A hero? You mean like Superman, Batman, and Spiderman? This would be the answers that a 6 year old would give. This is one of those topics that has a millon different answers. The true dictionary defintioin is a man of distinguished courage or ability, amired for his brave deeds and nobel qualities. Many dictionary definitions do not relate to real life or real life situations. My defintion of a hero is someone who inspires someone in their everyday life. Someone that is never selfish, and hovers over everyone else due to their courage and nobility. I belive everyone is a hero. It does not matter if you have had struggles in your life, and never had really been on the right track, you still are a hero in someones eyes. The hero in my eyes, which everyone should agree with, is Jesus Christ himself. He had been brutally beaten, in the worst pain possible; something i would not wish on my worst enemy, and he even sacrificed his own precious life to forgive us for our sins. Heros do not always have to do something enormous to become a hero. Sticking up for a fellow classmate when someone is picking on them can also consider you a hero. Rember, its not always the big things in life that make you stick out in a crowd, it is also the small things, and they will stick with you forever.

Heroes

There are many definitions to what a hero could be. Like many other people have typed in their blogs, a hero could be a person who saves lives or simply does nice things for others. Heroes to me would be somebody who is courageous, brave, and just does nice things for people. The person would be courageous because they would try to save people kind of like a fireman, policeman, or an EMT. Brave would fall under the same category as courageous because they would kind of have to do the same thing. Doing nice things for people could be anybody because you could simply just be a hero to a single person or lots of people. Then again the fictional characters that we used to watch on T.V., or in some peoples case might still do, but those are people that save people, fight bad guys, and save the world. Those people are just made up, even though some people might think that they are real, those characters are just finctional. The real heroes in our world are people that are willing to risk their lives for others. Also, anybody could be a hero just by doing the simple things for people. The average person could be hero if they would just do the simple things like contributing to their hometown, helping out some charities, or donating to others. Even you could be a hero if you really tried!!!

True Heroes

In our society today, we typically stereotype heroes as police officers, firemen, and soldiers. Yes, they are heroes, but that is their job. But what about the heroes who do not get recognized for their courageous acts? I am referring to the type of hero who is brave when the moment demands for someone to take action. These heroes may risk their lives to help someone or stand up for a citizen's rights when no one else will. A single teenage mom who made the decision to raise a child instead of taking the easy road is a hero. She gave up her future for her child. A man jumping in front of a bullet to save a friend is a hero. A true hero does not do it for glory, nor do they do it for money. They do it because they have the courage and strength to stand up and do the right thing. A hero is willing to risk their life for the greater good. I believe we have heroes walking around us everyday. We may never know who they are, or what they have done that is an act of heroism. But they could have done something so heroic that it has greatly affected some one else's life, whether that person knows it or not.
