Surprises Within Life

"Mama said life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." - Forrest Gump.

When you just have to "roll with the punches" that is how i think about this quote. Not everything is going to go the way you please, when that happends you just have to go with it. This quote means to me is that your never know how something is going to go, and it is never going to go as planned. everyday I live by this quote because I go into my day with an open mind and never trying to guess or tring to plan how my day is going to go. It is just going to be the way God planned it to be. That is why this quote is so meaning to me.

Mistakes? They Are All Right!

"A person who never made a mistake never learned anything new."

-Albert Einstein

Doesn't this quote just make you wonder? Albert Einstein, the composer of this quote, made many mistakes, but he always tried again and ultimately succeeded. He never gave up or stopped believing. Without him, there would be no blogs! This quote also inspires me to keep moving forward and keep my perseverance. Even when I think I cannot take it anymore, I remind myself to keep pushing and look at the situation from a different angle. A new outlook always provides a new answer.

Being perfect may not always be the solution. Be who you are because mistakes are a part of life. Even Albert Einstein, one of the smartest humans ever to live, proclaims that it is alright to make mistakes. Every mistake is a life lesson. How are we supposed to learn from mistakes if we never make any?

Train hard.

"There may be people that have more talent then you, but there's no excuse for anyone to work harder than you do. -Derek Jeter

In this quote Derek Jeter tells how I feel about baseball. Yes, there are going to be people that are better and more talented than you, that comes natural, but there is no way they can work harder than you. If you really want to be the best, nothing is stopping you from getting it. There is no possible way for somebody to limit how good you want to be. If you work harder than their natural talent, then you can be better than that talent. If you put in the effort and strive for that goal; to be the best, there is no stopping you. We all have natural talent, but there is no limit for how hard you work. If you practice every day and train hard you can reach your goal of success. Your going to face people all the time with more skill, but that doesn't mean they're better than you are. If you want it more than the other guy and you put the work in, you can be just as good or even better.

Live Life

"Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die tomorrow." This is a famous quote once said by James Dean. This quote means so much to me because it makes you think about a lot. His quote says so much in such a few words. Something I interpreted from this quote was that you should not put limits to yours dreams. Do not, not pursue something because you do not think you have time or that it is a mistake. You only live once and you are going to make mistakes somewhere along the road, so you cannot sit here and worry about what is a mistake or not. To be more general, I think this quote means to try and make your dreams as big as possible and never stop dreaming. The second portion of this quote says that you should live everyday to the fullest, try to do possibly everything you can do, and do it without regrets. Take advantage of what life offers you because there are many opporunites, take nothing for granted. I live my life through this quote.

Ability, Motivation, and Attitude

"Ability is what you are capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it." -Lou Holtz

This quote means different things to me. Many people have the natural ability to succeed at what they can do well. A person may have great ability and should succeed, but they do not. This comes down to a lack of motivation. In order to succeed, you must have more than just ability. The ability that you have does you no good if you are not motivated to use it the right way. Without motivation your ability is nothing all by itself. Your motivation usually reflects on your personality and how you act. Some people have both the ability and motivation to succeed. There are people that are good at what they do because they have ability and motivation. But those people could possibly be doing it for the wrong reasons because they have a bad attitude. To reach your full potential, you must have the right attitude. Even though your good at something it does not necessarily mean you are doing it the right way or for the right reasons. We have all seen a student or athlete with natural ability but they do not succeed because they do not have motivation or the right attitude towards what they are doing. It takes ability, motivation and the right attitude to be successful.

God's Light

"Darkness cannot put out the light. It can only make God brighter." This famous quote by an anonymous author means that no matter how bad things get, God's goodness always out- weighs the bad things that are happening. This is my favorite quote out of all other quotes that I have heard. It really makes you notice the good things in life. Instead of looking at the bad things in the good, try to look at the good things in the bad. By doing this you make a difference in the world. If you are going through a dark part in your life, use this quote to find God's light. Whoever wrote this quote must have been a pure Christian and a good samaritan. I am a Christian, always have been. That is why this quote relates to me. Whoever wrote this quote, thanks.

Perfection is key

PERFECTION IS KEY

“Practice does not make perfect. Only perfect practice makes perfect.”

Vince Lombardi

As human beings we strive for perfection and to be on top. People think that if you only practice you will get better, but Vince Lombardi corrected them by stating: “Practice does not make perfect. Only perfect practice makes perfect.” Lombardi is known for greatness; he took a losing 1-10 team and transformed them into a championship team three years in a row. Vince Lombardi wouldn’t accept failure or slackers. He pushed his players every practice and every game, no exceptions. He demanded 110% every time they touched the field. Although Lombardi’s state of mind is more football oriented, his quote is applicable to everyday life.

You can apply this quote to anything from sports, hobbies and even school work. For a student struggling in math, Lombardi’s quote is particularly relevant. The student needs to go beyond the minimum class work required and complete additional problems on his own. By practicing additional math problems, a struggling student can work toward achieving perfection. I intend to follow Lombardi’s quote in all the things I do. Altogether if you follow this in everything you do you can become a better person.

Like Mike

"I've failed over and over and over in my life, and that's why I suceeded."-Michael Jordan. This inspirational quote was said by arguably the greatest basketball player ever. It shows that even him,a perfect all-around basketball player, struggled at times in his life but was able to fix and learn from his problems. When I start to stumble in my life I remember that quote and  find a way to overcome my problem. It has helped me through my biggest and smallest problems and never failed me. However it also helps me realize how small and minute my everyday difficulties are compared to others'. I have been blessed with more than I ever could imagine. Not everyone sees that they are blessed because they are blinded by their worries and failures. This quote can show you that even stars who think they're perfect, have fallen short sometime in their life. There is so much knowledge in a failure. It shows a problem that lets you learn and adapt to it. Learn from this quote, as I did, and let it be a santuary in your time of sadness and turmoil. Remember that when you learn from a problem, you're like Mike.

It'll Pass

"This too shall pass", a quote that is not very direct in what it is trying to say. It can be something different to each individual and carry a new meaning. To me, it is very biblical, like God telling me that even the hardest of times will pass over. That no matter what I can make it through anything as long as He is by my side. This quote gives me hope that God is here for me and He is always watching over my circumstances. "This to shall pass", just lets me know that I will not always be in the valley, but will soon make it to the mountain peak. No matter what the valley is at the time, whether it is a low grade in class, or something more trying, like a death of a loved one, I know it will pass. During these times God is with me and sees me through to the other side. The pain and disappointment at the time seems devastating, however I am encouraged by knowing that "this too shall pass", and that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. God put these valleys and mountains in our life to test us, but will not let you suffer alone. This saying has gotten me through a lot of trials and tribulations. There is a plaque above the door in my house with this quote etched into it to remind me when I am in one of those so called valleys that it will all be over soon.

Everyone Needs To Laugh

If I had no sense of humor, I would long ago have committed suicide.” - Mohandas Ghandi

Having a sense of humor is an important part of human survival. While committing suicide is extreme, I see Ghandi’s point. If you have no sense of humor, what is there to live for? People always say, “Laughter is the best medicine,” and I believe this is true. The best way to make a new friend or cheer someone up on a bad day, is to make them laugh. People that don’t have a sense of humor tend to be loners, and whether they’ll admit it or not they’re probably depressed or angry most of the time. A good mood is nearly as important as food and water. Everyone needs to laugh and have fun once in a while.

A Unique World

"The splendor of the rose and the whiteness of the lily do not rob the little violet of it’s scent nor the daisy of its simple charm. If every tiny flower wanted to be a rose, spring would lose its loveliness." -St. Terese de Lisieux

This quote can be interpreted in many ways. In literal terms this quote means that the roses and lilies of spring are not the only two flowers that make spring a unique and beautiful season. It is the simple and sweet flowers that you can find all over the earth that makes spring what it is. You can take this quote and leave it at that and not go any deeper, but when I read this quote the first thing that came to my mind was life in the society we live in. The lilies and roses can be replaced with famous people and the violets and daisies can be replaced with all common day people like us. Everyone knows that it would be amazing if they were famous and could be like certain sports players, actors, musicians, and politicians. I would have to agree to a certain extent, but really think about what would happen to the world if everyone was famous? It will eventually come down to the point that everyone is so famous that nobody is famous. This means that if we are all famous who would be our fans? What about supporters? Who would go to our games, and concerts and see our movies? Nobody would. Now I am not saying that there cannot be famous people in the world, but it is also the little people that are just important because they are who make those people famous. The little people also make up more of the country in order for it to work. They are our firefighters, policemen, teachers, doctors, lawyers and many more that help our day to day lives happen. Without all of these people, the world, like spring, would not be as beautiful, unique, interesting, and diverse as it is today. Everybody plays their own important role that comes together with everyone else and makes the world complete.

Stretching the Mind

Man's mind, once stretched by a new idea, never regains its original dimensions.

-Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.

This quote means, to me, that once you have envisioned a new thought or idea that your mind shall be forever changed. The mind shall be changed in such a way that the original thought of the matter will never again take its original form. The new idea will now affect the thought process in which you use to visualize the situation dealing with the subject at hand. Your mind will never again revert back to your former grasp of the subject. One piece of new information can change everything you thought about something. For example, one of your friends got in a fight with another one of your friends. Hearing one side of the story can create a conclusion you think to be true. Then, upon hearing the other side of the story, your mind and your former conclusion are completely changed. What you once thought was fact has now become fiction. Even the smallest detail can "stretch" your mind and you can lose the old idea. This is a part of life we have all come across at some point and will see it again in soon time. It is for this reason that I chose Mr.Holmes, Jr.'s quote above all others.

Greater Enlightment

Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.
-Thomas Edison

I believe that this saying is one of the most important to ever cross a humans mouth. Many people in our grade, school, and community have had chances to better themselves and others, but they have not decided to due to the fact that they are lazy. What they do not understand is that hard work and determination is the path to success whether it be in school or anywhere else in the vast venture of life. Mr. Edison saw this as so few of us have now. He had envisioned something worth knowing. The true value of hard work. Hard work is an opportunity for anyone to learn something and get some sort of reward for it. If you do your best work in a school project or even just homework you will probably find yourself learning something and in this world knowledge is power. Wealth is not just handed down to you, you will have to work for it and work hard. A lot of people I know are afraid of hard work. Now I am not pointing any fingers, but through the years I have seen many who fear more than shading in "A" or "B". I remember a time in the eighth grade when my classmates would complain about book work or a research paper and the problem is things have not changed. I fear that this generation is too reliant on technology and have become lazy beyond belief or repair. Now do not get me wrong, hard work is what it is,but opportunities missed are our own fault.

Do Not Base Your Life on What Other People Think

"You can't base your life on other peoples expectations." Stevie Wonder once said. What this quote is saying is that you cant just live off of what other people expect you to be. Just be yourself. It does not matter what other people expect you to be. You just be who you are and keep doing what you do. Your parents might expect you to be a straight A student. But if you just cannot absoulutley do it then just try your best. Sometines you are not going to live up the the expectations that people would like you to. But that does not matter as long as you try your hardest. If you do not make that expectation dont think you are a failure. If someone tells you you suck because you did not make that expectation they had for you it does not mean you suck. They just have high expectations for you. You just might not be that good at the thing that they had expectations for.

Just Run

Wherever we run, we'll never get far from what we leave behind.
We can run, run, run, but we can't hide. - Grateful Dead
This quote I've heard only a few times, but every time I do it seems to stick. We all try to run from things we don't want to deal with. When something bad happens like fights, death, etc. we want to run. We want to leave it all behind and maybe it will get better. Maybe when we get back it will all be better. Or maybe when i come back I'll find out none of this actually never happened, it was just a dream. It doesn't work though, we always come back to the same situation and always feel the same way. We are still sad and depressed, simply helpless. In the end, we know that running didn't help, we should ahve just stayed where we were and dealt with it. But that's just not how human's work, we just want to run. I mean who wants to deal with a fight that cahnges your life forever, or a death of somebody close to you? Why did God want to do this to me? This is the question we can't answer, which is why we run, and are always found. We thought we were hidden from it all, but God brings us back to the situation and we become unhidden, found. Left to deal with the trials of life, which is why we are here in the first place. To deal with the happiness and the pain, but in the end still go to a better place.
