The Last Dragon Rider

My favorite litereary is Eragon of the book series Inheritance. He is my favorite because is always looking out for others and wanting to shoot for the stars. I am alike him by us both aiming our sites on the stars. In the books, he is the last dragon rider and the only hope for man,elf, and the dwarves. Due to his situation, he is given great responsbility at a young age, which only cause him to mentally age much quicker. He has fought and saved the rebels from their enemies and even has sacrificed himself by being cut down the back by a possesed shade named Durza. He is awlays kind, nice, and a great person to read about. He has learned many lessons that should have not been learned.Death has even struck his family. He has no one left but a cousin, who does not know if he is dead or alive. He is overall my favorite person to read about. Christopher Paolini, hats off to you.

The Unwavering Wizard

            Harry Potter is the main literary character, also my favorite, in a seven book series called Harry Potter. Throughout this intriguing series, Harry and his friends Ron and Hermionie are trying to find a way to stop the worst dark wizard of all time. Now if this were I, in Harry’s position I would turn and run in the other direction. However Harry stays strong through seven years of being hunted down, and he eventually gets what he deserves. He kills Voldemort. Harry revealed many qualities about himself throughout these seven years. I have concluded that he was strong willed, caring and brave. All of these qualities make up a great leader. This is what Harry was throughout the story, a great leader. I pondered these qualities, and I realized that I share most of these with Harry. I have the distinguishing characteristics of a leader.  This is why Harry Potter is my favorite literary character.

Massie, A natural born leader!

      My favorite literary character is Massie Block from The Clique. In the very popular series, Massie is a natural born leader. She is cleaver, charming, and always knows what to say and do during any type of situation. She is always there for her friends and they look up to her. She is a role model that everyone comes to for advice. Like when her friend Claire went on a date with Massie’s crush, she was completely supportive. I admire Massie very much for her cleaver wit and natural confidence, which shines off her. The qualities that Massie has are something you need to be successful in whatever you do. I say that I am like Massie in many different ways. I consider myself a leader that is always there for the people I care about. Every time I read the books I think that a person like Massie is very rare to find in real life. Even though she is a fictional character, Massie could be an inspiration to anyone. As she once said, “I’d rather be a friendless loser than have a lot of friends who secretly hate me.”

When Being Different Can Save Your Life

             The character that I find the most interesting and inspiring is Beatrice Prior. She is the main character in the Divergent Series. She lives in a world where people are divided into 5 factions, Candor for truth, Eudite for knowledge, Abnegation for selflessness, Dauntless for bravery and Amity for peace. Born into an Abnegation family, her entire life has been about others. But she is not a regular Abnegation girl, she is Divergent. On testing day, the day 16 year old's choose their faction, she finds out she is Divergent. Her test results show she is Dauntless and Abnegation. She must now make a choice, her family or her destiny. She chose destiny. This story sends you through countless twists and turns as her true personality starts to show. Never knowing what will happen next, she must face it all or die trying. During her ordeal, she transforms from a shy, remote girl to a seemingly natural leader and must save her factions in the process. During the story line, the Dauntless  compound is taken over, and its members brainwashed, and her Divergence is the only thing that stands in the way of her becoming a tool for the Eudite.
             I think I am like Beatrice because, I am usually shy and split between two situations. Although I can't say for sure if I am immune to brainwashing, I can at say least have a little in common with my favorite literary character.

Arrows, Braids, and Surviving Skills

          While some of my favorite characters are Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, Hermione Granger, and Zoey Redbird, one character stands out as my favorite. The Hunger Games well-known Katniss Everdeen has captured my attention along with many others. Her strong, determined personality reminds me of myself along with her looks, talents, and actions. The author of the Hunger Games trilogy, Suzanne Collins, did a fantastic job at creating a character that I can relate to.  I admire the fact that Katniss volunteered in place of her little sister, Prim, in the grueling Hunger Games. She faced her enemies with determination to get back to her friends and family in District 12, her home, even when no one believed in her except for Peeta Mellark who was in love with her. She also never gave up on Peeta even when he was increasing her chances of getting eliminated. She nursed her friend back to health and they managed to win against all odds. She also stood up to what she believed and what she thought was the right thing to do. She stood up to the Capitol that ran the country’s actions and throughout the trilogy won a rebellion that she had formed. She was the true victor in the end despite what some people may think. Her strength got her to so many places in her life and it got her through all the losses she had put up with. She is my favorite character mostly because she’s someone I can look up to whether she’s real or not. She’s a character you can want to be like.

El Power Ranger Rojo

There’s something about the color red that gets me going, it makes me feel like I can do anything. My favorite childhood super hero was the Red Power Ranger. I admired the Red Power Ranger for many different reasons. First, because he was a leader and I always wanted to be a leader. I also admired him because he was red, my favorite color. And the last reason I admired him was because the red Power Ranger usually got the prettier of the two girl Power Rangers. I would say that I’m more like my character than not. We’re alike because I would consider myself to be a leader. Also, the girls that I get are always the prettier ones, so that’s aways a plus. The Red Power Ranger entertained me in almost every way you could think, from how I ate, to how I talked. He made me think that I needed to train to be a pro Power Ranger, so everyday I would go outside and practice my fighting skills on the trampoline. He also kept me outside instead of being inside all day in my parents’ hair. The Red Power Ranger had a significant impact on the person I am today.

The One and Only Ronald Weasley

      My favorite literary character is Ronald Weasley from the Harry Potter series. Ron Weasley is the best friend of famous Harry Potter and boyfriend of Hermione Granger. In the Weasley household he is the fifth child out of six, he has 4 older brothers and one younger sister. He is a very interesting and entertaining character.

He is also the class clown with Harry at Hogwarts along with his brothers, Fred and George.  At Hogwarts he never really excelled academically but was on the Quidditch team. I admire him a lot because he was always willing to help a friend, such as Harry even if it meant being in scary situations. He was also very courageous in all of his endeavors with Harry.  Ron was always very loyal too like when everyone thought Harry was crazy he stood up for Harry and wasn’t afraid to be made fun of for it. Loyalty to his friends is my favorite trait about Ron. Ron and I are a lot alike by we are both gingers, he is very forgetful and so am I, and he also feels like he has something to prove in life. One difference is, he came from a big family with many siblings and I came from a small family with only one sibling.  These reasons and more make him the one and only Ronald Weasley.

My favorite character in any book I’ve ever read was Isabel in Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson. Isabel is a slave from the South that is sold. She is later moved to a house in New York City to work as a housemaid. I really like Isabel because she is a faithful young girl that knows how to work out her problems in the correct ways. We are alike in many ways as a matter of fact. One way that we are alike is she is daring and risky, but always has that second guess while she’s doing it. She gets beat many times throughout the story but still remains a hard worker and strong-willed girl. I really do admire Isabel because of her traits I’ve listed so far. She entertains me because she is respectful but always has a sarcastic and smart side to her. She also is very entertaining to know that she is under “rule” of the British family but has a way to connect with her Rebel friends and family. She stays committed to her beliefs throughout the story and makes the story interesting. These are just some reason why I would recommend this book to anyone. A must read if you get the chance!

Selfless Acts

What makes a parent? Is it by being one biologically or is it love? When the husband of an adopted child is released from prison for domestic abuse, he learns that his wife signed adoption papers and forged his signature, thereby illegitimating the adoption. The adoptive parents have loved and raised the boy for the last 4 years and are devastated by the courts decision to return the child to the biological parents. By the miraculous grace of God, the biological mother recognizes that, in love, she must once again give up the child to the adoptive parents knowing that her husband would likely cause harm to the child. In Like Dandelion Dust the character I admire the most is Wendy Porter. Wendy earns my idolization by being such a selfless person. She is faced with many tribulations as she is stuck in the midst of putting her own son’s happiness and life before her own. I admire her for the attitude she is able to maintain throughout the story. She had to entrust her son’s precious, innocent life all over again to suited parents that she felt deep in her heart were the best choice for her son. Wendy knew that it would intimately be the most self-sacrificing deed she could ever do. This is why Wendy Porter is my favorite literary character.

Half Human, Half God, All Hero

    Have you ever loved a character so much that you wish you knew them in real life? I have, and his name is Percy Jackson, from the books; Percy Jackson and the Olympians and Heroes of Olympus. Percy has got to be my favorite literary character of all time. For me, Percy is just everything you look forward to in a main character. He's funny, charming, and an all-out hero that's not afraid to take one for the team. All the adventures Percy and his friends go through are so mysterious and adventurous that it makes me wish that I was a demigod, had a power of some sort that I inherited from my god parent, had a half human half goat guardian, and that I had saved the world from evil Titans trying to rise against the gods. I also love all the situational and dramatical irony throughtout the stories. Percy is always cracking jokes, thinking of plans, or just going with the flow. Also, I admire how much he loves his girlfriend Annabeth. I know he would sail thousands of seas just to have one last underwater kiss with her. Even in times of completely forgetting who he is and what he's done, somehow he still remebers his dearly beloved, Annabeth. I admire Percy for all these reasons and more. No matter how many books, or characters I fall in love with in the future, I will always remember the kid who made it to the underworld and back, fell in love, made peace throughout the god world, raised seas, saved us from rising Titans, and who will eventually bring the Roman and Greek worlds together again.

Literary Role Models

    

     Ever since I was a small child, I've always been fascinated by the story of Alice in Wonderland. The main character, Alice, was definitely my favorite. Alice entertains me by being independent. For example, the beginning of the book is about her family pressuring her into doing something she doesn't want to do. She ends up refusing to accept their demands. She has to overcome many obstacles during the story. Her main conflict is trying to cope with the oddness of Wonderland and the unordinary creatures she encounters. Another conflict is when she fights the evil queen at the end. I've always admired her for her bravery and unique personality. As she makes her way through Wonderland she goes on numerous adventures. She meets new people, learns things, and has new experiences. I believe I'm similar to her mainly because I like to take chances and go on adventures as well.

The Brave and Creative Luna Lovegood

          I would have to say that my favorite literary character is Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. I've always loved Luna due to her eccentricity. In the series, she was always the odd one out. She was always coming up with creative and out of the box ideas. Luna partook in many important actions in the story that affected the plot strongly. One of the actions was her immense help in Dumbledoor's Army and her sheer bravery through the entire book. Though she was made fun of throughout the story for acting in an eccentric fashion, she never gave up. Luna was also strong, brave, and stood up for what she believed in with her head held high. I admire her character greatly for this. I've always had somewhat differing ideas from general society, and have been very outspoken about them. So in turn; those facts makes characters like this very appealing to read about. Another reason that I like Luna is that she is creative. Throughout the book she had amazingly creative solutions to many ideas.

Unordinary Bedtime Stories

                             

          Most little girls read classic fairytale bedtime stories; I on the other hand grew up with a different type of magic. Harry Potter, to me, was not just another main character in a series, but part of my childhood. Lots of people won’t understand why I admire Harry so much, they think “Oh, just another hero fighting a villain,” but it’s much more than that. As long as he could remember, Harry lived unwanted, unloved, until one day a letter came in the mail that changed his entire life. He soon found his place and realized how important he was; he must save the entire wizarding world from most evil dark wizard of all time, Lord Voldemort. Starting at the young age of 11, Harry’s bravery saved not only his, but other’s lives as well, multiple times. I would say that Harry and I are alike because he had a strong love for his friends and family, he would do anything for them, and so would I, but maybe not fend off hundreds of giant spiders or watch over their brother, a 16 foot tall giant for them. But in other ways, like bravery and personality, no, I don’t have as much endeavor as him. It may be weird to say that I have a connection to Harry, but it’s true. When reading the book, I feel like I understand the way he was feeling, his excitement on the very first day at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, or his anger towards Lord Voldemort and his followers, for murdering his parents when he was only one year old. He kept me intrigued with not only his feelings and thoughts, but his actions, like jumping on top of a fire-breathing dragon to escape being caught stealing from a bank. Harry kept me entertained me throughout the entire series, not once was I disappointed in Harry Potter.

The Amazing Batman

The literary character that really entertains me is Batman. The thing that made me like this character is that he's only human. He has no special abilities. He only has the strong will of a man and a lot of money. He trains himself like anyone else to be good at what he does. Batman has turned his worst fear as a kid, which is bats, and combines it into his superhero costume so he can fight off crime and hide his identity. This character has good detective skills, has great understanding for science and technology, and knows martial arts. Batman can also be quite funny in the most dangerous situations. He would always use some type of catch phrase when he’s fighting crime. What also makes batman my favorite literary character is his costume. His costume is modified to go through harsh conditions. His cape is made to glide through the air and protect him from extreme heat. All of these characteristics played a major part in my selection of Batman.

The Survivor

    My favorite character is Brian Robeson from the book Hatchet. Brain was a survivor and had a high degree of determination. Even though he was stranded by himself on unknown territory, he managed to survive. Brian kept trying and never gave up. I admire him because he insisted on reaching his goals no matter how rough a situation was. I am like Brian because when I set a goal for myself, I achieve it! Brian was recovering from his parent’s divorce, survived through an airplane crash, and was low on supplies, but he still pushed himself to the limit. Brian touched my emotions because no matter how tough life was for him, he made it through. He had a hard, stressful life which kept getting worse. Can you believe that Brian still pursued his goals, even when the situation seemed so desperate? Brian entertained me because no matter the problems he faced, he kept on trying until he succeeded. In conclusion, Brian Robeson was my favorite character because he had great determination and was a survivor.
