Synchronized Feelings

                I think love is the synchronized feelings of two people. Whenever someone you love is sad, it makes you sad, as with other feeling. You have made such a bond with that person that your mood is almost identical at all times that you and the person you love are together. Whenever I see that my parents or siblings are recovering from a sickness, it makes me happy to see that they are better. There may be exceptions from this theory but I’m no Nostradamus.  To me, love can be shown just by enjoying a person’s company or just doing enjoyable things together. I've only known my step-mom  Michele, for around 4 years but our bond is just as strong as the bond I have with my dad who’s known me for 14 years 9 months and 11 days (EST.).  This was because almost every day during the summer, we run errands, make jokes and discuss thing that are on our mind. Even this isn't the most efficient way to get to know each other, we still bonded. My other theory is that our minds seem to relate the people whom which we have done enjoyable things with the feeling of enjoyment and basically says, “Hey, I had fun last time I was with them. Maybe I could enjoy being with them again!” Once again I’m not a psychologist ,but  I feel this theory is somewhere in the ballpark of how bonding works.

Love is Love

Love is love- to put it simply. It can be many things depending on the people and situations involved. Love can be a long, difficult journey or slow and easy paced. Love can be shy, timid, persistent or even proud. Love is natural and not anything to be afraid of. It is something greater than us. There is no avoiding or tricking love. No matter how relentless one may try to shun love, love will always prevail. Love is, and always will be, the most complicated emotion humans ever experience. It takes faith and courage to love someone. Once one is in love, there is not a moment one stops thinking of that person. It can be compared to an obsession, and one can only pray that the person they love feels the same. Love is affinity above all. The attraction one feels is inescapable, yet exciting. Love is everything; without love we are nothing.

My Heroes

     I believe a hero is someone who risks their lives for someone else, protects others, or cares about the feelings of others. When I think about everyday heroes, the first person I think about is a doctor. Doctors try hard to cure and help people that are injured or sick, regardless of who the patient is. Firemen are definitely heroes because they risk their lives by going into burning buildings to save people. Most people wouldn't be brave enough to do that. Some heroes aren't as noticeable as a doctor or a fireman, but they still care about the safety of others. For example, a park ranger reminds campers to properly put out their campfires. That doesn't seem like a very heroic act at first, but think about what would happen if a fire wasn't put out. A wildfire could start and people and animals could lose their homes or their lives. To be a hero, you don't have to do something heroic publicly. An ordinary person could become a hero just by feeding a starving dog or cat. In my opinion, the greatest heroes are willing to sacrifice anything to help other people.

 Anyone can be a hero to someone. When you think of a hero, you think of a person wearing a cape, someone with gigantic muscles, or an unrealistic power. Not all heroes are the same. A hero to me is a person who is always there for anyone in need and who puts everyone before themselves. Also, a hero does the right thing, and influences other people to also do the right thing. You do not see their faces on T. V. because they know what other people are going through, and have a desire to help. Think about all the doctors and nurses who treat people with medications and save people's lives. These people are heroes in my eyes. There are also true friends who could be heroes. Having a smile on their face and always being happy could change someone's perspective on life. 

Anyone can be a hero if given the chance.

I think that a hero is someone who would be willing to put themselves in harm’s way to help a complete stranger.  A hero should also have the wit to get out of dangerous situation whenever they do decide to be heroic. An example of this is someone like a firefighter. Heroes by this definition can be found very commonly in literature with characters such as Odysseus for The Odyssey. Some would say that heroes are very rare in our society.  I think, however, that we all have the qualities of a hero inside of us, but most of us are not given the opportunity to show our selflessness. Some of us may just not have the motivation or confidence to put ourselves in harm’s way.  When someone does have the courage to help someone in a situation such as a house fire, they should never feel that the person or people they helped “Owe them something.” The hero should know that their action was an act of kindness and not a job they were assigned to do. Heroes should not want anything out of their actions other than what or whom they decided to help, to be helped. So, if you ever have the chance to help someone, consider what the more heroic thing to do would be.  Being the hero in one of many situations could be a huge confidence and self-esteem boost.

What Makes A Hero

A hero shouldn't be defined by a title or a certain capability.  A hero should be judged by the people around him. No one should be defined as a hero if no one believes that person is a hero.  A hero is in everyone, not just the ones classified as such.  A hero is one that puts others before himself and thinks of more than just personal gain.  A hero would want to help out in a huge world crisis or so much as to help an elderly person across the street.  Small acts of kindness can define an entire persons personality.  All people that help someone or something to its desired perspective is a hero. A hero is kind, accepting, caring, brave, exhibits good will, and sticks up for what he believes in.  Even everyday heroes that go unnoticed should still be considered a hero for the things he does in silence.  A real hero never needs to flaunt what he does to get satisfaction from others.  A real hero is one that doesn't seek satisfaction from others for he is already satisfied with himself. That is the true way of a hero.

The Hidden Ones

I was going to write a really long paragraph that I considered to be inspirational about the traditional hero: firemen, my mom, the president. And don't get me wrong, they are all heroes in their own way. I wanted to give credit to the people who I consider "heroes." These are people who contribute to society, and help others indirectly, but also have a huge impact. They stay anonymous, continuing on with their jobs in silence as they go through life day by day. They're courageous enough to do the jobs no one else really wants to do, and slip by completely unnoticed. And because of these traits, I have named them "the Hidden Ones." They are average, every day people: they have jobs and families, and make an honest days living. They are the faceless, nameless people you see walking in the streets. They are the garbage men and truck drivers, the daycare teachers and finance gurus. Though they are not the ideal "hero," (you know the type, the brave, witty characters who rescue damsels in distress and fight monsters with seventy heads,) they are even more important, in my opinion. They are the all-American, working class citizens, who make sure the country does't completely fall apart. Without these people, the foundation this country was built on would crumble to dust, and the nation would fall into a pit of chaos. They are heroes, because they carry out acts that may not seem selfless, but when seen in the big picture, are what make the world go round. They keep everything balanced. A hero to me does not have to be dramatic or strong, or even exceptionally brave. They just have to be willing to do the tasks that save us all, whether we know it or not.

My Hero At Home

When someone talks about heroes today they are usually referring to a soldier or a fireman.  While I agree that soldiers and firemen are heroes, I do not understand why my generation refuses to hold policemen in the same regard.  A policeman will charge head first into a battle and is willing to lay down his life for the man fighting next to him.  Unlike a soldier, a policeman does not have an army behind him. A policeman will run into a burning building to rescue someone he has never met.  Unlike a fireman, a policeman does not have the gear to protect him from a fire.  A policeman is expected is expected to show no fear and be infallible.  A policeman will run towards gun fire when everyone else is running away.  A policeman is always encountering people when they are at their worst, yet we expect them to constantly remain compassionate.  No one ever tells a policeman "thank you" or "glad to see you."  A policeman stands watch every night, witnessing the worst examples of our society, and then goes home and behaves like every other dad, because that is what he has to do.  I know these things because my dad is a police officer.  I see him everyday, and everyday he gives me a kiss, a smile, and then ask me how my day was.  He never complains about his job and he never talks about the horrible things he witnessed the night before.  I only know because is see it on the news or read it in the paper.  We never talk about it but I know.  My dad is my hero and I swell with pride every time I see him in his uniform.  My dad is my hero and I worry about him every time he leaves in that same uniform.

Heroes: All Shapes And Sizes

When you think of heroes, you think of the stories of Superman and Batman that we grew up with as kids. They were always dropping whatever they were doing to rescue whoever was in need. Although they are great examples of heroes, a hero does not necessarily have to save someone's life. A hero could be anyone around you. Every year, about 12.7 million people around the world are diagnosed with a form of cancer. Whether it's benign or malignant, it can be a very hard and troubled time for that person with the disease. Cancer can take away your hair from chemo therapy, and it can take away many other things, but the one thing that it can't take away is your family. They will always be there for you to make you smile even when you think you can't. To me, just being there for someone like that can make you the biggest hero. A hero could also be someone cutting off most of their hair and donating it to Locks of Love, because that one simple act could lift anyone's spirits without hair. Too often we forget who the true heroes are around us. From the soldiers fighting for our country, or to the many doctors contributing to finding a cure for cancer, anybody could be a hero.

 

The One True Hero

The One True Hero

What qualities truly make a hero? Many people believe that what makes a hero is strength, agility, power, etc. Others say it is compassion, honesty, cleverness, and courage. I believe that in order to be a hero you must save someone’s life. When I say this I do not exactly mean taking a bullet for a stranger or finding the cure for cancer, which only saves one’s earthly life. The one true hero, Jesus, came down and humbled himself in order to save all lives. He did this by dying for our sins on the cross. He tells Christians to spread his word in order for others to be saved.  When you tell someone about the word of God, you are giving that person the ability to call upon Jesus and ask Him for salvation. When someone is saved it means they will spend eternity with God in heaven.  All the qualities I listed above are qualities that a Christian should work toward; but I believe that a true hero is someone that spreads God’s word in order to tell others about life after death in heaven. After reading this, do you believe that you are a hero? 

Unsung Heroes

The word hero is often misused and misinterpreted. A hero is someone who is brave, honorable and willing to risk their life for the life of others. A hero is not someone who swings in from a tall building, or flies through the city using superpowers and fancy gadgets. This is what we mistakenly feel how a hero should look and act. One example of a real hero is a United Sates Marine. A marine risks his life every time he goes out to battle. A marine does this all the time giving it everything he’s got expecting nothing in return. Although, in the movies, comics and cartoons a hero never dies. But there are real heroes dying everyday for all of us. Heroes seem to go unnoticed even though they do amazing for us without us even noticing. True heroes don’t wear tights, masks and capes. True heroes are all around us and always working to keep us safe.

Hero or Side-Kick?

     Brave and courgeous are most likely the first words you think of when you hear the word "hero", but there are many more qualities that a hero must have. A hero must be ready to sacrifice his life for what he believes is right and he must be ready to sacrifice his life to save another. A soldier is what most reminds me of my definition of a hero. A soldier fights for what he believes is right and he is ready to sacrifice his life to save another. Don't get me wrong though, I'm not saying that to be a hero you have to go into the U.S. Army. Doing your part in the world  is something we need more of, something that is slightly less glamourous than a hero, like a side-kick. Yes, a side-kick; a person who is under the radar, who does great things when people aren't ever looking. A hero is also a person who is willing to help without wanting something in return--- everyone just doing their part in the world. If we were all side-kicks, then we would't really need any heroes in this world. What it really comes down to though is if you are doing the right thing. Doing the right thing will always lead you to being a great person. Whether you're a glamourous hero or a unnoticed side-kick, make sure you are always doing you're part in this world.

Nerds Can Be Heroes Too!

Whether you’re a strong athlete or a nerd, you can make a difference in someone’s life. For instance, my brother Gabe was closer to a nerd than an athlete, but that doesn’t matter. It is hard to think of how many lives he has changed by simply never giving up. Three years ago my brother was diagnosed with a cancer called Hodgkins Lymphoma. Gabe breezed through his first treatment, but then he relapsed and it was far worse. Gabe showed heroic traits all throughout his long journey. Even when he was told that there were not many treatment options left he didn’t let that slow him down, no, not at all. Although the chemo and radiation wasn’t working, he kept on living life. He smiled all the time and even helped other kids who were scared at St. Jude. He shared his story with hospital donors and got over 1000 people to sign up for the bone marrow registry. I believe his journey has inspired others to live life no matter what it throws at you. I am proud to call Gabe my brother, and most definitely my hero.

A Dancer's Hero and How it Compares

     To a dancer, your hero is someone who inspires you. It could also be just someone you look up to for judgement and advice. A dancer's hero doesn't have to have some kind of huge achievement list, but it's best for them to be a good teacher. A great example of a hero to me is a dance teacher you trust. My ballet teacher, Ms. Katherine, and the owner of our studio, Ms. Dianna, are people I personally trust to tell me what I'm doing correctly and incorrectly and also how to make myself a better dancer as well as a better person. The two of them, along with many other teachers and people I call heroes (my mom, my youth minister, even God), have disciplined me into the person that I am today. They have taught me to be strong person with a tough skin as well as teaching me self-control and gracefulness. 
     As well, I have the opinion that a hero should also possess the qualities they are trying to convey to other people. For example, if a hero wants to relate courage to people that look up to them, they should possess that same courage. They need to set a good example themselves. Also, everyone makes mistakes. I believe that a true hero would admit their mistakes instead of lying about them to make themselves look better. Lastly, I believe that all heroes should be honest and fair. Without those qualities, who would want to look up to them?

Anyone Can Be a Hero

                What makes someone a hero? I think what makes a hero is kindness, loyalty, bravery, cleverness, and many more. Such as firemen, they have to be brave to go into the fires. I know that if I was a fireman I would not have the bravery to go into the fire. Also, I think that teachers are heroes. I think that teachers are because they teach students to gain courage and gain intelligence within them. A hero must also  believe in his or her self. If a hero does not believe in his or her self then others will not believe in themselves. A hero could be anyone in your everyday life, such as a mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, and a sibling. A hero must always believe in his or her self-have cleverness, kindness, loyalty, and bravery. Who knows you might be a hero yourself.
