Constant security

Wang Lung has his land, lots of land, to make him feel secure. I have my family, my dear and wonderful family, to make me feel secure. As humans the basis of our lives is our family. As a family we look after each other, care for one another, and are always there through thick and thin. I have been blessed by God to have the most wonderful family. My step dad with his jokes and humor, my mom who knows just what to say all the time, and my two spastic and random sisters. Sure at time we may have our differences, sure I may get punished and have to suffer the consequences, but in the end we all make up and life goes on as normal. So many teens have problems in their family life. Some may say that its because their parents do not understand them or just do not care, but there is two sides to every story. The parents may say that their child ignores them or does not do as they are told and for the most part they are right. As teenagers we challenge authority and think we know everything, but the truth is we know so little. All our parents want to do when they tell us we can not got to a party, for example, is protect us from making mistakes that could be costly to us. They want to protect us and that is what family is all about. My mom, even though I may dislike her at times, is the best mother I could ask for. She is the strong guiding hand I needed through my early years to become a well disciplined young man. If it was not for her I do not know where I would be today. She is my single biggest source of security and there is no amount of thanking I can do to repay what she has done for me. Thank you Mom, and Happy Mother's Day.
