In The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien, Gandlaf describes Bilbo Baggins as "only a quite little fellow in a wide world after all." Although Bilbo contributed throughout the journey and even became the leader, it was still in his nature as a hobbit to stay inside his little hobbit hole where he felt at home. To a hobbit, it was respectable not to have adventures and keep to himself. Where's the fun in that?
Personally, I would hate to be "only a quite little fellow in a wide world after all." If I were, I would keep to myself and stay at home all the time. There would be no adventure and in my opinion, no fun. I could never live that way. There's no fun in blending in with the crowd. Also, I've always wanted to make a difference, which would require standing out. To me, being unique and different is a beautiful, respectful thing. If I were a hobbit, I wouldn't be a very respected hobbit, but I would be willing to sacrifice that for a fun life.

Bilbo was not used to the outside world, he was always on schedule, and didn't go on adventures. Bilbo never wanted to do anything different from anyone because, he didn't want to stand out from anyone. He never wanted anything to change, and was happy with his simple life.

I would not want to be " only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all". I want to stand out from everyone else, and be able to live life to the fullest. If I lived the life of Bilbo Baggins, I would feel like I wasn't achieving anything. I would want to set goals for myself, and have everyday different from the one before. I want to be the person I want to be and explore different things. I want to make an impact on people's lives, and somehow make a difference in the world. I want to be proud of the things I have done and be happy with them. This is why I would not be happy with the everyday life of Bilbo Baggins.

In the end of The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien, Gandalf states that Bilbo is "only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all!" Gandalf is referring to Bilbo being a plain little hobbit in his world. Bilbo is happy with living a boring life in his community. Mr. Baggins' hobbit hole is an ordinary hobbit hole for an ordinary hobbit to live and fit in with his society. Bilbo is happy when he is sitting in his dining room, sipping his tea.

I honestly would not want to be only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all, doing the same things all the time. Wearing the same exact looking clothes all the time would be such a boring life to live. I would want to buy new different clothes every now and again. I would want to go out in the world and reach my goals and accomplishments, so that one day I could look back and see what I did for the world in my life. Which means ultimately I would not be happy by just being a quite little fellow in a wide world after all. Going out and doing something with yourself, with your life would be a fantastic experience to live through and for. Just sitting around your whole life and doing nothing has to be a terrible life to live. I personally don't see how anyone would want to live a life like that.

He is referring to just being content and happy sitting in his hobbit-hole doing nothing. I would not be happy to be "only quite a little fellow in the wide world after all". To me, that would be a very boring life. I want to be able to enjoy life doing a lot of different and exciting things.

Bilbo sits around because he doesn't want to be different. He wants to fit in with his society. I would want to be different than everybody else. I want to have different clothes and stuff. To me sitting on the couch all day is horrible. I want to do something exciting and look back see the accomplishment I made. Ultimately, I would not be happy living a simple life like Bilbo Baggins. He is satisfied with being "only a little fellow in a wide world after all". Bilbo Baggins prefers living in his peaceful hobbit hole and missing out on what the outside world has to offer. I could never live that way. I wouldn't want to lose the opportunity to experience great possibilities. To walk within the lines would make my life so boring.
I'd like to know that I have lived my life to its fullest potential. I want to travel and accomplish things no one else has. I wouldn't want to be ordinary or just another average person. Eventually, I'd like to make a name for myself. My life would be pointless if I was "only a little fellow in a wide world". Hopefully, my legacy will show that I made the world a better place.

Tolkien, Gandalf labels Bilbo Baggins as “only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all.” Although Bilbo contributed a significant amount to the dwarves’ journey, his natural instinct was to stay in his hobbit hole where he was most comfortable. Bilbo usually refrained from any type of adventure and was perfectly content to be lost among all of the other hobbits. For myself, I would not be happy to be “only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all.” Individuality is more important to me than complying with the rules of society, as Bilbo had to do in order to earn the respect he held around his community. I would want to make an impact on the lives of people around me and be remembered when I’m gone. Even if the adventures that I may have in the future are not as great as Bilbo’s turned out to be, I want to be able to explore my interests and be my own person. I want to be able to see the world and experience different cultures and different societies than my own. For me to be able to blend in to the people around me and to be “only quite a little fellow,” I wouldn’t be able to show the person that I am. I’m not afraid to share my opinions and beliefs, and not showing what I believe in and the things that I’m passionate about would be robbing myself of any exceptionality that I may have. While I would be content to make a great impact on only a few people in my life, I would ultimately want to make a difference in the world that would affect many people for the better. After I have accomplished my goals and lived a full life, I want to be able to examine my days and know that I was not “only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all.”

At the end of the book, Gandalf says that Bilbo is "only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all." Bilbo agrees and is content and happy with that comment. I would not like to be "only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all." The reason being, I would not like to stay home all day and do the same things all the time. To me that would be a boring life and I would feel like I am trapped and have nothing else to do. I would want to go out and do different things everyday and experience the world that I live in.
This reminds me of last summer when we went to Florida and Texas for vacation. On these vacations, I did exciting things that I could not do while sitting around at home. But this summer was different, we didn't really go on a big vacation which made my summer not as fun as the last one. I mainly stayed at home and did a lot of the same things everyday which made the days drag out. This is why I would not like to live Bilbo's life and stay home all the time. I would want to get out and do different and new things each and every day. I would want to look back at the end of my life and see all the cool things I have accomplished.

At the end of The Hobbit Gandalf says to Bilbo “…You are a very fine person, Mr. Baggins, and I am very fond of you ; but you are only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all!” What Gandalf is saying is that even though Bilbo has had many adventures he was still the neat, predictable , and ordinary (though more well traveled) Hobbit he always was. Which Bilbo agrees with. To be so content to conform , to be bland and unknown in the world , in my opinion is madness. I don’t think it would be bearable to me to be the person who never sets their feet beyond the normal boundaries. Bilbo and his family , because they never did anything unexpected, were the model citizens for hobbits in the Shire. They were happy being in their little elite bubble world of hobbits, never trying or never wanting to exceed the norm.

I find myself being the complete opposite. When people think of me I want them to think of me as an example for positive things ,and someday I want to be an influence to people . I could never do that if I were like Bilbo . I could never make a name for myself if I was a hobbit . If I were a hobbit I would never want to be someone people notice. I do want to be a good example for people ,whether its through my writing or anything else I do . I cannot imagine my life as a little fellow is a big world . I want to be my own person in this life . I can honestly say that I would not be happy being, “only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all.”

Being "only quite a little fellow in a wide world" is a compliment to a hobbit, they love the same agenda for everyday. Bilbo Baggins enjoys being alone in his hobbit hole, eating his bread and tea, and smoking large smoke rings atop his porch. My opinion is a consistent schedule is a bore. That is why being "only quite a little fellow in a wide world" is an insult to me. I do not want to be identical to other people, I want to stand out in my own unique way. I desire adventures, challenges, and obstacles throughout life, without them I would fade away into nothing. I want to take the right opportunities and live my life to the full extent, leaving no regrets behind. While Bilbo was on this journey he kept wishing to be back in his comfy hobbit hole, but on the couch reading this tale I was wishing I could be apart of Bilbo's experience. If life had no bumps, no hills, nor mountains to climb, life would be dull. A dull life isn't the word I aspire to define my life. Instead of dull, I would want my life represented by the word accomplished, because I do want to and expect to conquer many things in life. My final verdict is I would not be pleased to be "only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all."

Gandalf says that Bilbo is "only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all" and Bilbo says he is happy to be just that. I would be happy, too, to be "only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all" because if I were someone who has experienced everything the world has to offer, I would not have anything to want. Although I would like to do and see everything on Earth, I want to be able to say "I want to go there, I want to do that!". Otherwise, my life would be full of excitement and adrenaline for only a little period of time and the rest of it would be left with time do something I have either already done or to do nothing at all. But on another token, I would not be happy to be "only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all".
I would not be pleased to be just one person among this massive world of events and millions of other people because there are so many things I want to try and do before I die. I don't want to do the same routine everyday and be a nobody that lives in a cave. I want everyone to know my name! The world we live in is like a library. Its full of stories and we can pass by the books and only wonder what they are about unless we peel back the covers and see what's in store. What I mean by this is that if we sit in our cozy boxes and stay in our comfort zones looking out the windows, we can only imagine how much fun something could be rather than experiencing it for ourselves. We have to step outside of the box and live life to the fullest!

A Little Fellow in a Wide World

Would I be happy to be "only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all?" I am torn about the subject. There are two sides of me, one of them prefers to be at my house and the other adventuring out into the unknown. No, I wouldn't like to be "only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all." But then again, I would be comfortable staying in the exact same city, state, and country I live in now. Though, it seems a little boring, if you think about it, we all have a little Bilbo Baggins in us. Some of us, never leave the city, state, or country that we live in.

What if a wizard showed up at my door and asked me to go be adventurous? One side of me would have to sleep on it and think what I am putting myself into, but the other side of me would do it without thinking. As for Bilbo, he was very comfortable staying in his little hobbit-hole being left alone, unadventurous. Though we all like a little thrill in our lives at times, some would rather sit out of the adventure.

From time to time my wild side comes out. I like to go and explore, taking no precautions. Though, that little Bilbo Baggins is in us, a few of us would like to put it in a little box in a corner and forget about it. Some people would like everyday to be as different as the next. Ultimately, I would rather remain open minded to the statement, "only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all."

No, I wouldn't be happy to be "only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all." I don't want to be like everybody else. I want to be the person to stand out in a crowd. In the future, I see myself as the person that lives their life to the fullest. I also see myself as being succsessful. I do not see myself as the person who sits at home all day like Bilbo Baggins.
Bilbo Baggins would prefer to sit in his peaceful hobbit hole left alone. If I did that, I would feel like I wasnt getting very many things accomplished. Don't get me wrong, Bilbo accomplished very many couragous things, but after he did so, he said that he was pleased to be "only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all." If I was to ever accomplish as much as he did, I would feel motivated to accomplish many more things and make the world a better place. Imagine how many more things Bilbo could achieve if he didn't keep to himself. He could change the world.

I don't think I would be happy to be " only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all." No one wants to be the same as the next person. I want to be different, and I want to make a difference in other people's lives. Also, I believe that I can make a change and make the world better. I wouldn't want to be average or normal. I want to go above and beyond with my life. This means I have to go the extra mile.
Bilbo Baggins doesn't necessarily like all the attention and responsibilities, even though he did some pretty courageous things in the expedition. He would much rather be at home with all his things in his hobbit hole and live a quiet life. Thats not something I would be happy with. Living like that would not be a very fulfilling life for me. In conclusion, I would much rather go out of my comfort zone, taking chances and risks, to better myself and be a big fellow in the wide world instead of a " little fellow in a wide world after all."

When Gandalf speaks the phrase, " only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all" he means that he has now realized the significant role that Bilbo played in the journey. I would not be pleased to be "quite a little fellow in a wide world after all" because that would mean that I would miss out on all of the opportunities that life has to offer. Bilbo Baggins is obviously satisfied living in his small hobbit hole continuing the same routine day after day. I need a little excitement in my life. I could not repeat the same routines daily. That would limit me to a boring life. Sitting at home like Mr. Baggins would not allow me the independence needed to live a full life. I've always been the type of person who wanted to stand out in a crowd. I want to be recognized for something that I did to help the world. I like attention, unlike Mr. Baggins. Ultimately I would not like to be "Only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all". That is just not the way that I would want to be remembered!

It's All Up To You......

Bilbo hates adventures and surprises. He likes to know when company is coming over. If he could, he would never leave his hobbit hole. He's content as he is and finds it a great thing to be "only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all." Bilbo likes a nice tidy house with everything in place. He rather fit in with society than be different. Even after all of his adventures Bilbo returns to his neat, predictable, and ordinary life.
I love adventures and surprises. I love having company over even if I didn't know they were coming. Unlike Bilbo, I love to get out of the house and go places. Just like Bilbo I am content with myself but unlike Bilbo I find it horrible to be "only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all." My room is not tidy and nothing has an exact place to be. I love to be different, if everyone is wearing pink, I'm going to wear black. I don't have a neat, predictable, or ordinary life like Bilbo.
