At the end of the hobbit Bilbo says he is happy to be "only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all." Bilbo is happy to not be a part of the world. Bilbo is content living in his hobbit hole. Bilbo may not think it but he played a big role in his adventure. Even though Bilbo manged to go on a great adventure he would still rather just sit at home in in his hobbit hole. I do not agree with Bilbo I would not want to be "only a little fellow in a wide world after all." Unlike Bilbo I would not be happy to be a little fellow in a wide world. I wanna do something that makes a difference. If I cannot make a difference I would at least like to contribute to the world in some way. Many people set goals in life. I would like to achieve all of my goals in life. In doing that I hope I will make a impact on the world.

At the end of the novel The Hobbit or There and Back Again, Gandalf is talking Bilbo and tells him,"You are a very fine person, Mr Baggins, and I am very fond of you;but you are only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all!" To this Bilbo responds by saying,"Thank goodness." I think Bilbo is saying this and is glad that he is only a small fellow in the wide world. I think Bilbo thinks this now because he now understands that he is not just small but also plays a small role in the scheme of life and is glad for this. I think he is glad for as small of a part as his role was it was still a huge task to him. I think this because any larger part in this scheme may have been way to much for him to handle. For me in this role I know that I would most likely want a larger role in the scheme of life to make me feel more important. I also would want this because good things may even become of it but I really have no control in this so it really doesn't make a difference to me for a larger part can also lead to problems such as Thorin, he had a larger role and he died with it. though Thorin died that doesn't mean that a large roles lead to death because for Gandalf also had a larger role and didn't die or get injured. So I think it all depends on your actions really and with that I believe we can make a roles in the scheme of life larger if we just take more action and trust what we are gonna do is right. I think I could handle a larger role but I have no idea on how much I could take. Lastly, I would want a larger role to be remembered by but if I wasn't to get a larger role then it wouldn't bother me to much

When Bilbo says that he's happy to be "only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all", I think I know what he means. I think that he means it pleases him to just be a small part in the grand scheme of things. That-like Gandolf said-all his adventures and escapes were not managed by luck, or for Bilbo's sole gain.He is content with his small role in life. Though personally,I wouldn't be. I want to make a difference for the better. I want to make an impact on the world. You see, Bilbo has excepted ,and is happy with the fact that he is not really a key player. But me, I haven't. I want to be a key player. I want to help people, to just be the reason that the world is a better place(at all).But if that's not God's plan for me I guess there really isn't much I could do. So,back to the second part of the question. I could be happy as a nobody. But I want to be somebody someday and think I would be much happier that way.

Towards the end of The Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins realizes that he is content with being "only quite a little fellow in a wide world." Bilbo has gone to the edge and made it out not only alive, but with more than he had before. I would be happy to be "only quite a little fellow in a wide world," but on the other hand, I would find it boring. I want to feel like I have made a difference in someone's life or steered the world in a different direction. To inspire someone is a life changing action that makes you feel like you have done something amazing.

If you are adventurous and daring, you are a hero in the perspective of others. I want to be a hero to someone, instead of the boring lump-on-a-log who is content with their life, only because they have not experienced something far greater. Bilbo is a rare case where he went on an adventure and came back only wanting to be left in peace. If I were Bilbo, I would have continued on many more adventures! However, I do understand why Bilbo would only wish for his little hobbit-hole. After many near-death experiences, I would definately want to be in a calm and peaceful environment. Overall, being "only quite a little fellow in a wide world" is good for some people, but not for me.

In the book, The Hobbit, Gandalf tells Bilbo that he is "only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all." Bilbo responds by saying that he is pleased to be "only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all." What this statement means to me is that he does not think he has done anything important in his life. I think it is very ironic because Bilbo did a great deal in his lifetime, especially when compared to the other hobbits who never left the Shire. Bilbo and I share very different views. I am not content being just a little fellow in the world. I prefer to play a role in the world by being involved in something special or of importance. It would also be important for me to understand what role I play in it. One of my goals in life is to make a difference by serving our country in the military. Although I will only be one soldier, I feel I will be contributing to the greater good. I would not be happy at all to be only quite a little fellow in a wide world. To me when you are part of something special the world is a better place. In the book Bilbo’s response to Gandalf is that he is content to not play an important role in the world, where I want to play an important role.

The Hobbit: Being a Little Fellow

Being "quite a little fellow in a wide world" would have its ups and its downs. Me being so small in a big world would make me feel less important in the world. I would feel as if me doing any thing would have no purpose. People might tend to look down on you. However having such a large world around you might be great. It would make the world seem like there was more to discover. Making a mistake might seem like a less drastic event. Bilbo had a better experience to understand this. His adventure showed him both sides of the situation.I would need to go through that same experience to really know how I'd feel.Until then it's really just a guessing game. Although I see it being a good thing.
The only true experience i have with this is when I changed schools two years ago. I felt like i couldnt do anything to change the fact that i was new in school. However i then started to find new friends in this new "wide world". Although, i wasnt exactly as small as a hobbit.

In The Hobbit, Bilbo is pleased with being "only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all!" Most people wouldn't like that, wanting to see the world and have a big adventure. However, I don't like big adventures, prefering to hang out around my house with a few friends. I'm fine with being "quite a little fellow in a wide world", I could live my life like that and be happy. I wouldn't be happy living exactly like him, wearing the same cloths and never meeting a wife (or husband, in my case), but basically, doing the same thing every day, not changing my routine, is how I live already, even during the summer, and I'm happy just like I am.
Spending every day without friends is quite alright, as I like being alone most of the time. I don't want big adventures, and I'm fine with the friends I have. I like my life simple, and I am satisfied with that. I don't get bored easily because I am entertained easily.
After looking through some of the posts, I realized most people would disagree with me, and I know most of my friends would, too. But I'm different, I like being holed up in my room with only a computer to keep me company. I'm happy with my like the way it is now, and I don't plan on changing the way it is any time soon. I'm in good health and I am happy, so why should I change?

Bilbo says that he is pleased to be "only a quite little fellow in a wide world after all," but on the other hand, I would not be pleased as to being subjected as such. I want to make a reputation for myself, one to which I am making an impact on everybody around me, but I would not be able to do this if I were lounging around in my house all day. Bilbo was perfectly content with not being noticed in this world. If I had accomplished all the adventures that Bilbo had, I would be motivated to see what else I could achieve. Although Bilbo contributed much help to the dwarf's adventure, he was longing to be at home. I do enjoy being at home, but not as much as I enjoy being out in the world actually doing something with my life. Why waste your time doing nothing whenever you could do something that could possibly change the world? Bilbo obviously didn't mind losing precious time. I live like everyday is my last. I want to take in the atmosphere of this world, not just the atmosphere of my house. If there were only people like Mr.Baggins in this world, what would life be like? Although alone time with ourselves is necessary, I would not be pleased to be "only a quite little fellow in a wide world after all."

At the end of the book, Bilbo Baggins seemed pleased when Gandalf told him he was only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all. I wouldn't neccesarily be pleased by that statement. I, like others that have wrote about this topic, do not like the idea of being a little fellow in a wide world. Although, a nice, pleasant, and quiet life would not go unnoticed or unappreciated by me. However, I wouldn't be able to stay in one place and live a plain life.
In my opinion, you wouldn't be able to grow as a person. Experiencing new things, learning from our mistakes, helps us grow as we get older, and how can you do those things with the same routine everyday? In my opinion, you can't. The only thing I would learn from being in a hole all day, everyday, is that it gets boring quick.
I would want to go out and learn from my mistakes, experience new things, and being a teenager, want to push my limits. That seems natural, judging by what everyone else has posted. I don't think the idea of being a small fellow in a wide world appeals to most people. I know I wouldn't want to be quite a small fellow in a wide world.

He was perfectly content staying in his quiet little hobbit hole, despite his recent adventures. He was used to a simple lifestyle that involved no excitement. Personally, I would not enjoy being "quite a little fellow in a wide world after all." This would mean I would succumb to society's standards, much like Bilbo had done in the beginning of the book. I would prefer standing out and expressing myself. I want to make a stand for my own opinions and beliefs. I want to make a difference in the world today. Unlike Bilbo, I imagine myself traveling and taking risks rather than sitting at home. Even if I only affect a few lives, hopefully they will pay it forward.While I accept that some people would rather stay at home and blend in with the community, that is not the life for me.

Although he was most content in his hobbit hole, Bilbo Baggins was a great contribution to this journey. Even though he was outside of his comfort zone, he stayed strong and even became the leader.



I, personally, wouldn't be satisfied with living a simple life like Bilbo Baggins does. He is truly happy with the life he lives, and prefers this lifestlye over the adventures and oppurtunities that he is missing out on. To stay within those boundaries and not getting out of the usual routine would make life really boring for me, and I'd like to live my life to its fullest. So instead of being "..only a little fellow in a wide world after all", I want to be part of something bigger, something out of the ordinary.

When Bilbo’s journey comes to an end, Gandalf tells Bilbo that he is “only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all.” Throughout the ups and downs of the long and perilous journey that Bilbo and the dwarves went on, Bilbo always wished to be at home in his comfy hobbit hole. Although I do admire Bilbo’s character for knowing what is important to him and not getting caught up in the mayhem, I could never be “only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all.” After looking at some of the blog entries, I noticed that many people agree with me. I think that is partly due to generation in which we live. In the 21st century, individuality and self expression is accepted and praised. For many people, goals are realized and set at an early age, and people aren’t afraid to branch out and be different. In the creative and constantly moving world that we live in, Bilbo’s life style is practically a foreign concept. I do like the idea of living a happy and quite life, but I could never simply blend in with the rest of society. I want to travel the world, and accomplish all of my goals in life. In The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien Bilbo says he y is pleased to be "only quite a little fellow in a wide world after all." What he means by that is he is happy living in his hobbit whole on a daily routine. This is the way he was at the beginning. Although he did go on the adventure and helped the dwarfs many times, in the end he still wanted to live in his hobbit hole peacefully and on a routine just like the beginning.

Personally, I would not want to be "only a quite a little character in a world after all." I believe that this life would get boring very soon. Every day would be basically the same routine, and the repetition and predictability would drive me insane very soon. My life would have to have a little bit of spontaneity and maybe even adversity to keep it from being boring. Also I think it is important for people to go out and set and achieve goals. If your inside your house all day, it tends to be very hard to do that. Plus without adversity life would be just to easy. And who dosn't want a little challenge in their life to overcome.
