My home provides me with a sense of peace and security in the same way that Wang Lung finds strength in his land. Whenever I stray far from home, I am overcome with emptiness. All I have to do to cheer myself up is sit on my backporch and savor the unchanging pleasure I get from relaxing.
Much like Wang Lung, if I am away from home for too long, I do not feel like myself. If I go away on vacation, when I return, a sense of warmth and peace radiates from my being. When I think of home, memories surge forth; times of family and happiness, as well as times of despair. Whenever I am at home, I can escape from it all; school pressures, social pressures, and even the crazy world all around me. Everything disappears when I am at my residence.
In similar ways, Wang Lung and I seek peace and comfort in our property. Maybe our home gives us a sense of belonging and that is what call us home. But, whatever the future holds in store for me, I hope that I will always be able to come home.
When it comes to my home I feel very similar to the way you feel. When I am gone too long from my home I begin to miss it and long for it again. It is my place I can just be me and relax.
ReplyDeleteI never thought about my home that way before. Really makes me appreciate it! Good job!
ReplyDeleteI agree, Emily! Home is something that we can rely on to give us a sense of comfort and security. I hope that I will always be able to count on my home being there when I need it in the future, too.
