Connected

     "That there are no random acts.  That we are all connected.  That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind." Eddie was connected to the Blue Man even though he had no idea who he was. Eddie and the Blue Man would have never been connected if Eddie hadn't tried to cross the road at the exact time he did. The actions of The Blue Man when Eddie crossed the street are indeed what saved Eddie's life.  Eddie did not know that the Blue Man's death was actually the reason he lived.  This is an example of an act was that was not random.  
     Another example from the book that demonstrates how we are all connected is Eddie's relationship with the captain.  Eddie spent his life feeling bitter about his knee injury and his physical limitations.  He didn't realize until he met his captain in heaven that if he would not have been shot in the knee, he wouldn't be alive.  
     I agree that there are no random acts and we are all connected.  Everything happens for a reason because God has a plan for each of us.  Like Eddie, sometimes in life we are upset about things that happen to us but it is all part of the bigger plan.  We do not always understand why but as time goes on, the plan becomes more evident to us.  
     There was an incident in which my parents told my sister she could not go to dinner with friends one night. My parents wanted her to go with our family to dinner.  As we left our house, we realized my sister's friend and her dad had been in a terrible wreck.  Someone pulled out in front of them and their vehicle flipped and the back was crushed in.  My sister would have been sitting in the back and possibly died that night.  This is an example from my life that I can relate to the idea that there are no random acts.  
     As my life goes on, I will look back and realize that people have been put in my path to shape who I am and what my life will be about.  
     

Part of a Bigger Plan

“That there are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind.” This quote says to me that all of our actions are for a purpose and are part of a larger plan that affects other people. Isaac Newton stated in his third law of motion that every action has a reaction. This truth is constantly displayed throughout The Five People You Meet in Heaven. For example, Eddie’s father went into the water to save his friend. Because of this, Eddie’s father became very ill with pneumonia. All these events led to Eddie working at Ruby Pier, where Eddie would spend the rest of his life and where he would eventually die. Eddie’s father’s actions at the time seemed minor and only relevant to the present time; however, they greatly affected Eddie. They were a major part of the bigger picture. This concept is also true for real life because at the time of our actions we are not thinking of the positive or negative effects that they can cause to other people. Sometimes we don’t know and may never know these people who are affected. One thing that we do know is that our actions occurred for a reason and that they were all a part of the plan for our lives.

A Purposeful Life

“There are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind.” 

This quote has many meanings and is full of depth. It explains the idea that all humans are connected. For example, in a family system, if someone in the family experiences a traumatic event, the rest of the family is affected. On a larger scale, the decisions the government makes affect the whole country because of the fact “that we are all connected.”  Even if couples break up, families split apart, and countries are divided, one can never be completely disconnected from the universe. One could think of this idea as the universe being the wind and the human race as the breeze. Humans are connected to each other as much as they are with the universe. In accordance to the theory that we are all connected, it also explains that everything has a purpose. This is where the quote “everything happens for a reason” evolved.  Plans change, things go wrong, but no act is random in life. Every living thing has a purpose, contains motivation for that purpose, and has a reason for that purpose. Therefore, if we are all connected and everything has a purpose there must be a higher power that has the ability to connect the breeze to the wind. 

Human Connection

     “That there are no random acts.  That we are all connected.  That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind.”  This quote from The Five People You Meet in Heaven means that every choice you make impacts someone else.  For example, in the story Eddie burned down a house because he resented his captor for making him a prisoner of war.  After he escaped, he wanted to prove he was not weak and he would fight back.  He met Tala in heaven, a little girl he killed in the house fire as a result of his anger.  His selfish and vengeful choice cost an innocent girl her life.  To further illustrate, if you run a red light you might cause a wreck in the intersection and alter someone’s life forever.  Before you make a rash choice you should think of the possible repercussions.  Eddie met Ruby in heaven and he was connected to her because the amusement park he grew up around and eventually worked at was named for her.  Eddie never met Ruby while they were alive but she impacted him because major events in his life happened at Ruby Pier.  This demonstrates how we can be connected to people we don’t even know.  In the early 20^th century polio was incurable.  Today you can be vaccinated so that you won’t catch it.  The inventor of the vaccine, Jonas Salk, has had a positive influence on your health, and he didn’t live in your lifetime.  You can have a positive or negative influence on people you have never met by the choices you make, so strive to be a positive influence daily.

Invisible Threads Are The Strongest Ties

“That there are no random acts.  That we are all connected.  That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind.  “This quote from The Five People You Meet in Heaven suggests that every day choices and seemingly small decisions affect the future.  "Random" people that we cross paths with daily may have a bigger impact on our lives than we will ever know; The Five People You Meet in Heaven proves this point.  Throughout the story, when Eddie met each person in Heaven, he didn't realize what connection they had with his life.  Whenever the people Eddie met told him about the connection Eddie was taken aback.  The familiar blue man at Ruby Pier died because he saved Eddies life. If the blue man would have run him over, than Eddie would not have had the chance to live like he did.  The shock from almost hitting a young child caused the man’s heart rate to skyrocket. When he fainted at the wheel, it caused a life ending car wreck.  Eddie thought he saw someone in the hut when he set it on fire.  After that and being shot in the leg, he always had nightmares.  He lived a miserable life after being mentally and physically scarred.  Coincidences are nonexistent occurrences that mask excuses.  Everything happens for a reason.  God does not believe in coincidences because he makes everything happen for a reason.  You may have already had multiple people die in your place, and one day you may die in theirs.  Remember this any time you are making a decision because you never know who life you may be impacting is.  In conclusion, nothing can separate us.  We are one, but we function as many connected by invisible threads.  

No Random Acts

     "That there are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind." This quote from The Five People You Meet In Heaven suggests that the choices we make daily affect our future. "Random" people that we cross paths with daily may have a bigger impact on our lives than we will ever know; The Five People You Meet In Heaven proves this point. In the book, when Eddie would meet each person in Heaven, he did not understand the connection between them and his life. Once the people would explain themselves, Eddie was able to understand the significance that they had in his life. The "random" blue man at Ruby Pier died because of almost hitting Eddie with his car. The shock from almost hitting a child caused his heart to pump furiously, which caused him to become dizzy and drop his head, which caused a car crash that killed him. The "random" little girl in the hut that was on fire died because Eddie was not able to save her. Because of this, Eddie was constantly worried and always had nightmares. He lived most of his life in misery because of experiences such as that. Coincidences do not exist. Everything happens for a reason; everything is a part of God's plan that is never altered. Lives of people that you may barely know could possibly be connected to your life somehow. Your actions impact others, whether it is in a positive or negative way. In other words, we are all connected, and there is no possible way to change that.

That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind.” This quote, from The Five People You Meet in Heaven, means to me that we all impact one another. People come and go, and every person you meet changes, impacts, or gives you a lasting impression. For example, a painter is painting a picture, and with each brush stroke, the painting is altered. With people, we impact one another in positive and negative ways with each interaction we have with them.  An example of a positive impact is a person mowing their neighbor’s yard, and that neighbor in turn, mowing another person’s lawn. This can lead to a chain reaction of positive impressions. Impacts can also be negative. In life, a negative impact would be if someone is having a bad day and is rude to someone. This rudeness can cause a chain reaction of negativity to occur. This type of negativity is also seen in the book, The Five People You Meet in Heaven, which states, “Eddie, wearing tawny pants and a wool cap, chases after it, and runs in front of an automobile, a Ford Model A.”  The man driving that Ford Model A, was so frightened by that terrible experience that he nearly gets in an accident which causes him to have a heart attack and die. As a Christian leader, I try to have only positive interactions with people. Ultimately, this is impossible for me or anyone to achieve because the only perfect person was Jesus. As Christians, we must strive to be the lighthouse in a stormy world. Christians must try to lead others to Christ in a positive way. In the Bible, it says in Matthew 5:16 (NIV), “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” This means that Christians need to be the ones that give hugs to someone when they are having a bad day. Christians need to smile at everyone we meet. We must try to be polite and courteous to everyone in the hope that they will see Jesus in us. These positive interactions can impact others’ lives in such a profound way, that it may lead them to accept Jesus as their Lord. In conclusion, I believe that any choice you make affects other people in our lives, whether it is in a positive or negative way. In the end, it is our choices that cause chain reactions. I believe this is how we are all connected.

The Theory of Causality

     Every cause has an effect and every effect must have a cause.  This has been a known truth ever since the universe was created.  The theory of causality states that everything has a cause and effect and everything is a cause and/or effect of something else.  The quote, "That there are no random acts. That we are connected. That you can no more separate one life from another that you can separate a breeze from the wind.", is describing the theory of causality.

     In the book, The Five People You Meet in Heaven, the theory of causality is a major theme.  Eddie's running out into the street causes the blue man's death.  Eddie's igniting of the huts causes the death of Tala.  Eddie's father jumping into the water to rescue a friend leads to the father's pneumonia, thus causing Eddie to work at Ruby Pier.  The dropping of a key at Ruby Pier causes a ride to malfunction, which in turn causes Eddie's death.  Throughout the novel, these cause-and-effect chains are prominent.

     This quote gives me a sense of responsibility for my actions, knowing that everything I do has an effect on someone else.  It makes me realize that I have a huge impact on others.  If I act negatively toward someone, he is more likely to act negatively toward someone else.  If I am kind, he may display kindness to someone else.

Seperating Life

What I obtained from the quote "That there are no random acts, That we are all connected. That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind” is as follows; that in way humans can have similar traits. In addition, I obtained; we perhaps cope with similar emotions, or possibly with some same situations in are lives; maybe not all at the same time. For example, if we can look beyond are looks and the beauty we might be able to see what is on the inside of people.

 We all might look different in are own unique ways but if we get to know each other better; it might be hard for us to identify the differences between us. We might find out that each one of us is somehow possibly connected. The word connected means to me that there is something between us that can unite us in some way.Incidentally, there may be a time when a certain individual may come along and affect your life completely.

 On the other hand, we might influence their lives, and we will not even know it yet. In the book The Five People You Meet in Heaven, Eddie the main character meets five people in heaven that either Eddie affected their lives or they influenced Eddie’s life. In addition, Eddie discovered in heaven how he influenced the Blue Man, Captain, Ruby, Marguerite, Tala referred to by Eddie as the little girl. Similar to Eddie, we might find out how we influenced some ones life when we get to heaven. On the other hand, some of us may never discover how we influence someone’s life on earth or in heaven and that may remain “just” one of the mysteries about life.

Coincidence?

         All lives and events that occur in them are connected somehow; there's no such thing as what some call "coincidence". Have you ever wondered if the person you are going to marry owns one of the footprints in the sand at the beach you're visiting? That's only one example out of thousands that shows that there are no random actions in life. "There are no random acts. We are all connected. You can no more seperate one life from another than you can seperate the breeze from the wind," this quote really makes me wonder how we could all be somehow connected. Life itself could be compared to a line of dice about to knock over one after another. Different trains of events connect each and every one of us although we may not come to that realization. The quote teaches me that sometimes we are unaware but, every event occurred in our lives can change others. In the novel The Five People you Meet in Heaven, the topic of "no random acts" is discussed many times throughout the story. For example, when Eddie goes into the street to get the ball without noticing the truck coming he luckily got the ball and returned to the yard safely. Meanwhile, the "blue man" driving the truck is still in shock and gets in a car crash that sends him to heaven. Eddie was unaware of the situation until he met the "blue man" in heaven which proves that we can be not cautious of our surroundings and still change someone's life because once again, there are no random actions. The quote definitely is questionable but in my opinion it's a great message to send out so that everyone can interpret it differently. We can all learn something from that quote, I learned that maybe the smallest things we say could knock down walls for not only one but many people. Just like we cannot separate a breeze from the wind, there's no way we can stop the events in our lives from connecting with others.

How We Are All Connected

              The quote, " That there are no random acts. That we are all connected. that you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind, " means a great deal of things to me. I feel that this quote is explaining how everything is connected in all events of life. Also, how we all are connected through life by mistakes and decisions we make. We never think of how our life is going to change or how it will be different after we make decisions. Every act we do or take has an outcome on life whether its good or bad. The quote has different meanings to many people; I feel that it is different for everyone. This part of the quote, " That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind, " means is that all of our lives impact on each other in some way. An example is when Eddie ran into the middle of the street after his ball, he is the reason The Blue Man died. Eddie had an impact on The Blue Man, he might have not known it but later in Heaven he realizes he had changed The Blue Man's life forever. Another example is when Marguerite died. When she died, it changed Eddies life by how he lost her, and how he felt that he should have done enough for her. All together i feel that this quote has a lot of definition to it. It shows me that we all change each others life by our mistakes and decisions.   

Camp United

      As humans we are all connected. Every action you do affects another person in some way. In The Five People You Meet in Heaven the Blue Man says, "That there are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind."
     One thing this quote means is that we are all connected in our actions. We can affect people with everything we do. We may not even know that we played a part in a persons life with our actions, but we did. Also, this quote means that none of our acts are random, so we have to be careful of what we do. We must think about our decisions and how they could not only affect us, but the people we come in contact with.
    I recently attended my church's summer camp which was called Camp United. Every person who was there worshipped differently. The speakers all preached in a different way. Although you may look at all of the over two hundred people there as completely different and unconnected, we were all there for the sole purpose of worshipping God. That is how we were all connected and had a large impact on each other.
    In The Five People You Meet in Heaven people crossed paths for reasons unknown to them at the time. In the story Eddie crosses paths with the Blue Man and indirectly causes him to die. Eddie did not know why he had crossed paths with him until he got to Heaven. When I was at Camp United I had the unfortunate accident of dislocating my left knee cap. It was very painful and I had to go to the hospital. As I was riding in the ambulance one counselor was in the ambulance with me and one counselor was following behind it. Both of them were friends with my mom when she was my age. All of us never knew that my mom's childhood friends would be helping me in such a difficult time when my mom could not be there. These two people may have crossed paths with my mom just so they could help me, and we may not have known it until this day.
    Every day we have an impact on the people around us and may not even know it. There is no possible way to separate one life from another. Sometimes we might even cross paths with people for reasons unknown to both of us. From ambulance rides, to a blue man saving your life, to childhood friends, we are all connected, and that can never change.
  

It Means Everything

    Every day people make decisions, whether they choose soup or salad or whether or not they marry their love. We all have choices that affect people whether we know it or not.

This is a quote from the amazing novel The Five People You Meet in Heaven. This quote is key, but to what, I do not know. The question is, "What does it all mean?" That is the mystery to this world. It might be something we never figure out. Now let me tell you what this quote means to me.

    In my opinion, it means that no one has to feel alone. We are all connected, as said in the quote. You may pass by a person in the street who is going to save your life. You may not know it, but I think that is the special part. We have all probably been forgiven or condemned by people we do not know exist a dozen times without realizing it.

    "The only time we waste is the time we spend thinking we are alone." I agree that it is a waste of time thinking we are alone. All we have to do is look around to see people we may be connected to. Humankind is the most intelligent species, but it is also the most ignorant. We do things every day that affect people, whether it be saving a life or taking one. It makes us wonder who we will meet in Heaven. "What does it all mean?" is something you will ask yourself. The answer to that is, "It means everything."

Everything Happens For A Reason

   
"There are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more separate one life from another that you can separate a breeze from the wind."

    I think this statement refers to the destiny in one's life. I think that this means that some people are destined to affect certain people. This means that you can't change what is inevitable. You are meant to have certain things happen to you from the time of birth to the time of your death and you can't ever change it. Events in your life are not random. Each event has a specific purpose and you may not even know what it is.
    You may ask yourself "Why did this happen to me?" very often, just keep in mind that it had a purpose and just because you don't know what it is doesn't mean there isn't one. No matter what you may think or do, your destiny has already been formed just as the future has too. Being connected to your destined events is inevitable. Tough events may come your way and you may not like but you may just have to learn to accept it and move on. Dwell on the good things and forget about the bad, just remember that it's all inevitable. This topic can have many meanings. My opinion is just one of many and it may be nothing special to anyone but this is what the statement means to me.

Connected for a Reason

What does, “That there are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind.” mean to me?   It simply means all things happen for a reason. Every person in our life is there for a reason.  Every situation, both good and bad, plays a role in making life what it is meant to be.  The reason and significance of people and events may not be clear to anyone.  I think faith allows us to believe that we may not always understand everything that happens.  Many people we may never meet can pave the way for us in the future by their actions.  We don’t always realize the importance of an event until many years after it takes place.  The outcome of our life is based on the things and people that we encounter along the way.  We are connected in ways we may not know.  For example, a simple act of kindness one person does may inspire someone else to act in that same way and inspire someone else.  Not knowing it, these people are now connected.  Even though it can be confusing, all things happen for a reason. We are all connected in different ways, even though we may not realize it most times.
