What is love?
1 Corinthians 13 verse 4-5 says, "Love is patient; love is kind. Love does not envy; is not boastful; is not conceited; does not act improperly; is not selfish; is not provoked; does not keep a record of wrongs." This, in my opinion, describes love perfectly. When I think of love, I think of sacrifice, and when I think of sacrifice, I think of when Jesus died on the cross. He could have let us die because of our sin, but He sacrificed His life because He loves us unconditionally. Also when I think of love I think of security. I never have to worry about whether I will eat, or if I will have a place to sleep at night because I know that my parents will always take care of me because they love me. Whenever someone loves you, you can always be yourself around them. Truly loving someone does not mean you only love the good parts about the person, but you accept them even with their flaws. Love can be shown in many different ways such as listening to a friend, giving kind words, a hug, or helping your little brother out with his chores. Showing love is not always doing huge things for a person, but sometimes its the little things that makes them realize how much you love them.

I love your preception on love. It is very eyeopening.
ReplyDeleteI completely and totally agree with you Mary Beth. This is really good. I used the same verse in my blog. It's the first thing I think of when I hear the word love.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is a really good description! I especially like how you describe love as security. I have NEVER thought about that before, but I realize that it is so true.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with what you said. The description that you give really explains what love is. And as Lauren said, I love how you described love as security. It really is true.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Mary Beth. I like how you used the Bible verse, that was the first thing I thought about when I heard of the topic. You did a really good job of explaining what love is.
