What is a hero? According to the comic books, a hero is a person who can save the world and get the girl by the end of the story. My definition of a hero is not quite like the comic books, but it is close. When someone says the word hero, one person comes to my mind- my dad. During hurricane Gustav, my grandpa went outside to check on his roof when a massive mind blew down a pine tree landing on him! Hearing the commotion, my grandma ran out of the house and sent for my dad, the only person strong enough to get my Paw- Paw's body out from under the tree. After my dad moved the tree off my grandpa, he discovered Paw-Paw was unconscious but still breathing. Dad and Granny brought Paw-Paw to the hospital as quick as possible, clearing trees off the road as they went. My Paw- Paw was sent to the emergency room where they used forty staples on his head and doctored on him for a broken collar bone. If it had not been for my dad, my paw- paw would not be alive today. So back to my first question. What makes a person a hero? I have a simple answer. You must be brave and willing to do whatever it takes to help the person who needs your help the most. For me, that person is my dad.
