Justifiable Heroism

By definition, a hero is someone known for his or her exceptional abilities and qualities. In some ways, this is correct. Although at the same time, it cannot even compare to what a real hero is. A real hero is someone who goes into situations with little expectancy of succeeding. It does not even have to be a real danger; it could even be a fear, or a doubtful outcome. As long as someone is brave enough to face against something he or she does not expect to overcome, he or she is a hero to me. You do not have to be a brave soldier, a firefighter, or even have superpowers to be a hero. You can be an everyday person, someone overcoming shyness, giving a speech, or maybe just trying out something she or he has never done before. Wherever you go, you will find heroes. Heroes are everywhere, and they should not be limited to the handsome, the strong, the famous, and the intelligent. Everyone in their own way can be a hero, not just the select few popularized by movies and stories. In the end, everyone can be a hero, regardless of prestige or creed.

  1. Oooooo! Big words!!
jk, I told you that I was going to comment!!
You make a great point in your definition of heroes. You stress your point enough but not too much. You are SO right in saying that ANYONE can be a hero. And you don't have to lead a long, heroic life in order to be a hero. Sometimes, a hero is made in as much as 20 seconds of insane courage. You were very to-the-point and clear in what you were trying to say. For a LAST MINUTE post, I rather enjoyed reading it. :)
BTW: I TOTALLY stole the insane courage line from the movie "We Bought a Zoo." It's a really good movie.
