The One True Hero

The One True Hero
What qualities truly make a hero? Many people believe that what makes a hero is strength, agility, power, etc. Others say it is compassion, honesty, cleverness, and courage. I believe that in order to be a hero you must save someone’s life. When I say this I do not exactly mean taking a bullet for a stranger or finding the cure for cancer, which only saves one’s earthly life. The one true hero, Jesus, came down and humbled himself in order to save all lives. He did this by dying for our sins on the cross. He tells Christians to spread his word in order for others to be saved.  When you tell someone about the word of God, you are giving that person the ability to call upon Jesus and ask Him for salvation. When someone is saved it means they will spend eternity with God in heaven.  All the qualities I listed above are qualities that a Christian should work toward; but I believe that a true hero is someone that spreads God’s word in order to tell others about life after death in heaven. After reading this, do you believe that you are a hero?

Unsung Heroes

The word hero is often misused and misinterpreted. A hero is someone who is brave, honorable and willing to risk their life for the life of others. A hero is not someone who swings in from a tall building, or flies through the city using superpowers and fancy gadgets. This is what we mistakenly feel how a hero should look and act. One example of a real hero is a United Sates Marine. A marine risks his life every time he goes out to battle. A marine does this all the time giving it everything he’s got expecting nothing in return. Although, in the movies, comics and cartoons a hero never dies. But there are real heroes dying everyday for all of us. Heroes seem to go unnoticed even though they do amazing for us without us even noticing. True heroes don’t wear tights, masks and capes. True heroes are all around us and always working to keep us safe.

Hero or Side-Kick?

Brave and courgeous are most likely the first words you think of when you hear the word "hero", but there are many more qualities that a hero must have. A hero must be ready to sacrifice his life for what he believes is right and he must be ready to sacrifice his life to save another. A soldier is what most reminds me of my definition of a hero. A soldier fights for what he believes is right and he is ready to sacrifice his life to save another. Don't get me wrong though, I'm not saying that to be a hero you have to go into the U.S. Army. Doing your part in the world  is something we need more of, something that is slightly less glamourous than a hero, like a side-kick. Yes, a side-kick; a person who is under the radar, who does great things when people aren't ever looking. A hero is also a person who is willing to help without wanting something in return--- everyone just doing their part in the world. If we were all side-kicks, then we would't really need any heroes in this world. What it really comes down to though is if you are doing the right thing. Doing the right thing will always lead you to being a great person. Whether you're a glamourous hero or a unnoticed side-kick, make sure you are always doing you're part in this world.

Nerds Can Be Heroes Too!

Whether you’re a strong athlete or a nerd, you can make a difference in someone’s life. For instance, my brother Gabe was closer to a nerd than an athlete, but that doesn’t matter. It is hard to think of how many lives he has changed by simply never giving up. Three years ago my brother was diagnosed with a cancer called Hodgkins Lymphoma. Gabe breezed through his first treatment, but then he relapsed and it was far worse. Gabe showed heroic traits all throughout his long journey. Even when he was told that there were not many treatment options left he didn’t let that slow him down, no, not at all. Although the chemo and radiation wasn’t working, he kept on living life. He smiled all the time and even helped other kids who were scared at St. Jude. He shared his story with hospital donors and got over 1000 people to sign up for the bone marrow registry. I believe his journey has inspired others to live life no matter what it throws at you. I am proud to call Gabe my brother, and most definitely my hero.

A Dancer's Hero and How it Compares

To a dancer, your hero is someone who inspires you. It could also be just someone you look up to for judgement and advice. A dancer's hero doesn't have to have some kind of huge achievement list, but it's best for them to be a good teacher. A great example of a hero to me is a dance teacher you trust. My ballet teacher, Ms. Katherine, and the owner of our studio, Ms. Dianna, are people I personally trust to tell me what I'm doing correctly and incorrectly and also how to make myself a better dancer as well as a better person. The two of them, along with many other teachers and people I call heroes (my mom, my youth minister, even God), have disciplined me into the person that I am today. They have taught me to be strong person with a tough skin as well as teaching me self-control and gracefulness.
As well, I have the opinion that a hero should also possess the qualities they are trying to convey to other people. For example, if a hero wants to relate courage to people that look up to them, they should possess that same courage. They need to set a good example themselves. Also, everyone makes mistakes. I believe that a true hero would admit their mistakes instead of lying about them to make themselves look better. Lastly, I believe that all heroes should be honest and fair. Without those qualities, who would want to look up to them?

Anyone Can Be a Hero

What makes someone a hero? I think what makes a hero is kindness, loyalty, bravery, cleverness, and many more. Such as firemen, they have to be brave to go into the fires. I know that if I was a fireman I would not have the bravery to go into the fire. Also, I think that teachers are heroes. I think that teachers are because they teach students to gain courage and gain intelligence within them. A hero must also  believe in his or her self. If a hero does not believe in his or her self then others will not believe in themselves. A hero could be anyone in your everyday life, such as a mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, and a sibling. A hero must always believe in his or her self-have cleverness, kindness, loyalty, and bravery. Who knows you might be a hero yourself.

The Cape and Mask are Optional

There are many types of heroes, the ones you see on the movie screens, single mothers, soldiers, firemen, and the list goes on for as long as you could believe. I am not here to state the obvious heroes; I am here to show you what is on the opposite side of the spectrum, the youth of America. Without the youth we would have no future, they are what is going to support our entire country in the future.  Our youth is the ultimate hero because of the fact they have their entire life ahead of them to do great things. No matter what counter argument you propose I believe the youth is innocent, they symbolize the true strength that only the future can hold. They may not be great now but just stop and look around, that kid you always see in your neighborhood that you think is trouble he could grow up to lead our nation. The youth of not only our nation, our world has the potential to be great which in my opinion makes them the greatest heroes. I am going to give an example of a hero, a specific child, this child has lost his father and his mother has not made an attempt to be in his life yet he still pushes on. That takes strength, not physical but mental and emotional strength and this child is abundant in it. He is the prime example of why the youth are the ultimate heroes. He has gone through a tragedy and still strives to prove to everyone he can be great. I hope you now realize that our youth are the greatest heroes and the most valuable resource.

A True Hero

The definition of heroes is a person who, in the opinion of others, has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model. In my opinion, the definition of heroes is someone who stands up for what he believes in despite of what others might think about him. To me, this is a very difficult quality to possess. Most people are influenced by society's opinion of how to look, act, or feel about certain things. When a person doesn't care about what other people's thoughts toward him are, that is being a true hero to one’s self. Heroes should strive to be true to themselves in all they do, although many people find this hard to do. No matter how big or small, all people have flaws in themselves. Even people such as policemen or firemen cannot be perfect. This is why I think that there are so few true heroes. If no one had flaws then everyone would be a hero, and there would be nobody to save. The few people who do have the qualities of a true hero should be advocates to others, so other people can be heroes too. These are the qualities of a true hero.

Heart of a Hero

Most heroes are classified as heroes by their strength, but there are more qualities to heroes than strength. Heroes have to be very loyal. He can't just leave their men's sides. He has to stay by their side. Heroes also have to be very clever and cunning. They have to be able to outsmart their opponents, as well as over power them. They have to also be a really good fighter in battle and can overcome any opponent. They have great hearts. They always want whats best for their men. Heroes always follow their heart for what they need to do to overcome an obstacle. No matter the physical obstacles the hero faces, the true fight is in their heart.

No Cape Needed

When you hear the word “hero,” someone wearing a costume and fighting a villain with their superpowers comes to mind. But Spiderman and Batman aren’t the only ones who can be classified as heroes. A hero is someone willing to help another person despite the risks. Heroes are selfless in my opinion. Matthew 6:3 says,”But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.” This verse reminds me of a hero because it is saying good deeds should not be done so that you can boast about them. Heroes don’t help people for rewards or appreciation but because it is the right thing to do. In life, you have your stereotypical heroes, like a soldier who refuses to leave his injured conrad behind in battle. There are also the unnoticed heroes you might pass by every day, like a kid standing up for someone in a school hallway. Whether ten years old or grown adult, a person can still be a hero. Whether a full blown act of courage or a simple act of kindness, the deed is still heroic in my eyes. Capes and swords don’t define heroes; their actions and character do.

My True Hero

A true hero, in my eyes, is someone who is courageous, compassionate, on task, and devoted. The men and women that work in an emergency room are one of the multiples that attain this description. They must be courageous to face any adversity ahead of them, and execute it to their best ability. The patients that have to go to the emergency room depend on them to help them and sometimes save their life. Being on task is something I believe they have because they can never be sure when the next patient may arrive, and how crucial their situation or sickness may be. They are so devoted to their jobs, for they are the ones that are also at work all night in case that there is a life or death situation in the early morning or late night. All of this they do for us, for hope that we are able to return home safe and well again. I do not think that these people get acknowledged enough for what they do, and achieve. Even though sometimes they do not succeed does not always mean that it was intentional or even that it was their fault. Sometimes it might be that the person with the emergency was not able to realize how important it was that they go to the hospital right away to receive care and attention. However, I do not think that this makes them any less of a hero, for they still obtain those main characteristics. The men and women who work in an emergency room are a true hero from my point of view.

It Comes from the Heart

A hero is defined as a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. There are many definitions and opinions of what a hero really is. In my opinion, a hero is someone who puts others before themselves. They would save someone else’s life with no regard for their own. The people who fight for our country, doctors who save lives, and even teachers are all examples of heroes. My grandfather is my hero because he was in the army during the Vietnam War. He risked his life to fight for our country. My grandfather is a strong and brave man. Another hero in my life is my grandmother’s pastor. Her pastor has impacted many people’s lives by bringing them to Christ  through his message. In my eyes, a hero is selfless and brave. My grandfather and my pastor show what a true hero really is.

A True Hero

What makes someone a hero? Qualities that make someone a hero are courage, bravery, loyalty, and honesty. It does not matter how big their muscles are. The true matter of size, is the size of their heart. Whether they have huge arms or twigs for arms,as long as their intentions are good, they are a hero in their heart. A modern day hero would be a biologist. A biologist would be one because they study the environment and the animals. They have good intentions for the animals, humans, and the environment. They make sure the animals are balanced in population and make sure that there are no new introduced species to do them harm. They help the environment by making sure it is not polluted, which also benefits the animals and humans. They help the humans by making sure that we are not hurting our environment and it's population of animals, which gives us a food supply and a healthy place to live. Everything they do is very important to us,whether we know it or not.

The Unrecognizable

Anyone can be a hero depending on the action he does. Many people mistake heroes only as Superman, Batman, Spider man, etc., but people you see everyday could be a true hero and you never realize it. To me, a hero is someone who does something significant for the benefit of others. A commonly know hero is a fireman, a police man, or a doctor, but there is a much larger variety than that. The qualities of a hero can be things such as courage, generosity, and mental strength.  A hero with courage could be anyone willing to help in dangerous situations. The best example of a courageous hero would be a soldier, simply because they put their lives at risk to keep our country safe and free. In my eyes, everyone who is generous is a hero. People who donate time and money to charity organizations are true heroes. They give their time and money to people they will most likely never even meet just because it’s the right thing to do.  Mental strength is the most important quality a hero can have. If he has strategy and compassion for something, he can do anything he sets his mind to, including saving other peoples life before his own. A hero will most likely go unrecognized simply because he does not boast. A hero who brags does not do something “good” for the well being of the other person, rather than for the attention for himself.

What makes someone a hero?

There are many definitions that might give someone the title of “hero.” But, I think that a hero is rather a generic term. Although most people could not argue that Superman of Batman is not a hero, there is many super people in the world that go unrecognized. For example, doctors and firemen save lives almost each and every day. Although they may not have laser vision or super strength, they still have admirable qualities that save lives. Some qualities that they might have are courage, compassion and the desire to do good. To have courage on ones character is worth more than all the gold in the world. It can save lives and better society as a whole. To have compassion is the ability to understand other’s wants and needs and balance them with the overall good. The desire to do good in society is one of those life saving and miraculous qualities. Even if you have laser vision, who can stop you from doing evil? This is my definition of a hero.

Undercover Heroes

Heroes sometimes go unseen by the human eye. They do not get upset or discourage from the lack of attention, instead they have happiness within themselves for the way they help people. I think that is wonderful and takes a great amount of humility, which many of us struggle with. They also have qualities like bravery, courage, honesty, cleverness, and sometimes strength. Strength, in my opinion is the least important of these traits unless you are talking about mental strength. When i think of heroes, I think of survivors of sicknesses. They were tested and decided they were not going to give up and that took much mental strength. That also took a fighting heart, bravery, courage, all of which are major traits of a hero. Even after a close encounter with death, they still only get attention from their close and loved ones. You never see their faces plastered on T.V. or on the cover of a magazine because they do not do it for the show. They know the attention is not what they are after, they only want to help others who are going through the same things they went through, which shows more humility. Also, recalling about a time that was painful and unpleasant and then sharing about it is not exactly easy. This brings back horrid memories that they went through and they have the bravery to go back to that ugly place in the back of their mind where they have stored away these memories just to help others. Talk about putting others before yourself, it may not be putting yourself in the way physically, but like I said earlier too much of this is a mental game.People tend to congratulate survivors and are excited for them, but never really realize what they do for their community. Just like superheroes save people and help them out, ordinary people who I classify as heroes do the same. They survived and can share their testimony to people and help them realize their life's worth. The unnoticed, yet grateful, humble, brave, courageous, clever, and strong at heart survivors are the ones our world needs to give attention to. They are the true heroes.

Who are heroes?

Many people question themselves when asked to write a prompt like this, "Who is my hero and why?" I prefer to look at it as "Who is a hero, and why." People have many heroes, mainly someone in their family or a famous actor or singer. If I had to pick anyone for my hero, it would be people who choose to use their own time and money to go to shelters and feed the poor. They do not have to, yet they still take the time to cook the food for the homeless, sometimes provide them with blankets and a place to sleep, and the money comes out of larger organizations, such as Saint Vincent De-Paul. Most of the money that is used to fund these larger companies is donated and raised through fund raisers. To me, these people who do such a little thing are heroes. The feeling of happiness that comes across the homeless as their hunger disappears would be enough to make even the most self-centered egotistical person feel like they had done good for society and feel good about themselves. Who are heroes? I think that heroes are everywhere. People think heroes are these imaginative people like Superman, Spiderman, and Batman, when in reality, the heroism is in the people. They just need someone to inspire them, to move them, to make them realize they are the ones who can change and be heroes. Heroes are everywhere, and the way I see it, all you have to do is open your eyes.

Making a Difference

Everybody’s opinions on heroes are different. Some say a hero is not made, he is born, but I think someone cannot just automatically wake up a hero. That person has to work hard to achieve a hero status, which is kind of the point of a hero. Anyone can try their best to make it all the way to the top, but a true hero will go above and beyond to be the best. I firmly believe everyone has a small part of them that can achieve greatness, but so many people do not put it to use. Someone who is a hero does not have to be obvious, sometimes the best heroes work behind the scenes. Anyone from a missionary traveling across the world to save people’s lives to a doctor working to find a cure for cancer can be considered a hero in my eyes. A heroic deed, like a hero, does not have to be huge. It can be giving money away to charity or stopping by a work site building houses for homeless people. Heroes have certain qualities that make them special, for example, loyalty and courage, or strength and wit. A hero does not always save the day and give every story a happy ending. Every effort counts and a hero knows how to do his best using his talents special qualities. No matter how a hero chooses to use these qualities, he will ultimately achieve the same thing; making a difference where a change is needed most.

My own hero.

A hero is someone who has certain characteristics about himself that make him special. A characteristic a hero could have could be his courageousness, strength, cleverness, wit, or intelligence. As I was reading the other blog posts,  I noticed that many of them where about parents, policemen, soldiers, firefighters, etc. While all those posts were very beautiful, I realized that many of the posts were missing the hero we look at in the mirror everyday. I am my own hero. I know that many of you are going to be surprised  annoyed and maybe even slightly angered by my decision to choose myself as my own hero, but in all actuality I am just being honest with myself. The society we live in today is a very real and very scary battlefield. Every day I am faced with challenges. I have to defend myself from the words that cut like knives from my peers, the television that throws fierce jabs of  the networks and their definition of 'perfection' and 'normal', the magazines and billboards that trying to sway me like the gods in ancient Greece and are constantly advertising and encouraging sex, drugs, and alcohol. Everyday I have to make challenging decisions of whether or not to give into these things. I am so very proud of myself for not giving into these things. I have worked very hard to get to where I am today, and I am so grateful for all of the opportunities that have come  my way. So the question is now, who is your hero?

Making the Cut

If you were to ask a group of people what their definition of a hero was, you would have a group of different answers. In my opinion, a hero is someone who keeps fighting for what he believes in. He doesn’t give up on his dreams or goals, even with the negativity and doubt some people might put towards him. I also feel, that to keep himself going, a true hero will share some accomplishments with people and charities as he works to become successful. Even after he succeeds, a hero will share some of his success, always express how thankful he is to the people who supported him from day one, and motivate others to accomplish their dreams. Being a hero isn’t all about saving lives, wearing some ridiculous outfit, or having comic books written about them. A hero can be anyone like a single mom who works all day, trying to give her two children a good education and keep a roof over their head. I feel that in order for people to think of you as a hero, you first have to believe that you are one. For example, if a teenager works all his school life striving to be successful, becomes valedictorian of his graduating class, gained respect because he pushed himself and believed in himself, or in other words he was a hero to himself.. A hero is someone who inspires people to follow their dreams and is someone you can look up to. A hero can be anyone, in any form. So believe in yourself, and become your own hero.

The Hero in Each of US

Heroes are more common than some might think. Heroes are simply average people that make good choices. They pass by us each and everyday. Inside all of us, there is a choice to be made; will we become the hero or will we miss the opportunity? Every meager human being has a chance to be a hero. There is the one moment in every life where the choice to rise up and make a change is presented. Holding a door open, raising money for a charity, or volunteering are all heroic actions taken by millions everyday. The teacher that works harder to explain a problem, the judge that stays fair and just in any situation, or the cop that catches the bad guy are all relevant examples heroes. Heroes works diligently and with integrity. The strength of a hero is not necessarily weighed in muscle, but rather by their patience and kindness. Sometimes, no one believes in heroes, yet small heroic actions are seen everyday. So will you be a hero or watch your chance fade away? Just remember that there is a hero in each of us.

A Hero Is Born

A hero is born, not made. Many times a hero doesn't know he is a hero. It's someone who thinks of others first and who has determination. A hero doesn't do good things so that he will be remembered a certain way, but because he simply wants to. No matter what the situation is, he always keeps fighting. However, a hero is not perfection. He too, makes mistakes and struggles from time to time, but he doesn't let that interfere with reaching his goals or moving forward. My Dad comes to mind when I think of the word "Hero" because even though he was dying more everyday from Cancer he still kept moving forward with his life. Every step he took was painful but he would put it aside and he survived not only for himself but for his family as well. Good deeds and tragedies don't make you a hero, you are born one.

Not Exactly What You Were Expecting

A hero is not always someone who wears a cape and saves damsels in distress. They aren’t always required to carry a weapon or be the bravest person on the face of the planet. Fame and glory aren’t important to some of the real world heroes. Helping other selflessly is all these heroes need in place of glory. A man that donates his kidney to a needy person without second thought is a hero in my eyes. Without ever even meeting the person he is donating to, our hero has saved their life. Even someone as simple a school teacher can be a hero. They help children become better educated, which in turn helps the student be more successful in life. In this way, you have helped someone have a better life. Anybody can be a hero. All they have to do to make themselves heroes is to apply their being to help others. Anything anybody does to permanently change another beings life for the better, is a true hero.

Not Your Stereotypical Hero

When you see the word “hero” you immediately think flowing cape, saving the girl and awkwardly tight spandex. The word doesn’t bring to mind the single mom working to feed her family or the doctor that saves people’s lives every day.  The moms and doctors are underappreciated and not given enough gratitude to the things they do every day and the things we take for granted. When a fictional hero does an act of service they get fame and fortune and they are showered with attention. But I think to be considered a hero you shouldn’t need gratitude or thanks to want to be a hero. You also need to be brave and you have to be smart but you must perform acts of service like  police men or  firefighters. Policemen and firefighters are heroes because they put their life on the line every day for the wellbeing of other people. They also aren’t paid or thanked enough for their acts of service.  Another forgotten hero is anyone in the military. Every single day they literally fight for other people and are put through so much we can’t even fathom or appreciate what they go through on a regular day.  I think sacrifice is a big part of a hero’s life. Their life could possible change but they still do it because they care about people and  when their life changes they usually channel that passion to being a better hero.  I think in that if you’re a hero you have to be a certain type of person with many good qualities.

Heroes Come in Different Disguises

The definition of the word hero cannot be looked up in a dictionary like most other words. That is because everyone has their own view of what a hero is to them. My view of a hero is someone who is a hero in disguise everyday like a doctor, teacher, or a friendly person who is always willing to help out. A hero has many qualities that are apparent to me. A hero is courageous, caring, and strong. They will always stand for what is right, help even when they are not asked, and be a rock for others through tough times. I know many people who have been heroes in my life and they all share these qualities. My two sisters and mom are three huge heroes in my life. They are strong and have always been there for me through all the hard times in our lives. They have taught me to be kind to everyone because they could be angels in disguise. They are also very brave when challenges come up and they always face them with smiles on their faces.  I hope to follow their footsteps when I get older and one day become a hero to many people when I become a pediatrician to many young people.

How's That For a Hero

When people think of a hero , they often think of people like Batman or Superman. When the definition is presented in their mind it's often a person who is physically strong. Although for my mind, the definition is totally different. When I think of a hero, I think of one who is not only physically strong but mentally strong as well. Just think, what if Batman had all the strength and power in the world, but not enough courage or mental strength to tell himself he could do whatever came his way. He would be no use. When someone is truly a hero, they are mentally strong and physically strong. I like to think of cancer survivors and also the ones who may have lost the battle to cancer as heroes. If you were told today, right at this moment you had cancer, would you be mentally and physically strong enough to fight on into the battle or would you sit back and mourn it? Cancer patients are very strong and truly heroes. Anyone can be a hero if they put their mind to it. Heroes come in all shapes and sizes. Never underestimate the impossible.

My Selfless Hero

A hero to me is someone who puts everyone else before themselves. Devoted day and night, they will always be there for anyone in need. Love and compassion run through their veins. A hero will not stop until they know what they needed to do is done. From big to small, their actions impact everyone.  They humbly inspire others to be the best they can be. My grandfather is my hero; he was the first person to graduate high school in his family. He then continued on with his education to eventually receive his Ph.D. in psychology.  My grandpa worked as a professor at LSU for 40 years, and was the founding dean of the honors college at LSU. When I was a child, I loved when he would take me out to get ice cream, or take me to LSU games. He always made sure I had a smile on my face. Never once has my grandfather let me down, he reminds me that anything is possible. That is what a true hero is to me, selfless.

Just Your Average Heroes

Being a hero isn't about having extraordinary abilities. It's using your own power (such as intellect, kindness, honesty, compassion, et cetera) for the greater good of others. A hero will help you when you're in need, loyal to you, and be there for you. There are many heroes among us; more than you'd think. Think about people who've impacted history and even our daily lives. This can range from soldiers, parents, astronauts, to friends. Soldiers put their life on the line every day for the freedom of others. Many are praised on arrival of their return. Many never make it back... Parents shape the new generation. They raise you, feed you, shelter you, and care for you. The audacious astronauts, such as the late Neil Armstrong, went beyond thought of possibility and went to amazing lengths (literally) to create history. Even friends can be heroes. They're always there for you. Some can always cheer you up, even on the cloudiest days. Some will always make you smile and laugh. They lead us down the right path towards happiness and success. I have many heroes. Who are yours?

Heroic Characteristics

To, me a hero is someone who is not physically strong, but mentally and emotionally strong. A hero is a person who is courageous and does everything to the best of their ability for the better of others. Based on my definition, the person that comes to mind, as a hero, is Mrs. Estelle. She is a color guard choreographer who tells her stories through her dances. She has been through so much on her own, but brings up others by helping them with her knowledge that she has gained. She uses her painful experiences to show others how to avoid these difficulties. This shows her heroic characteristics by her courage to tell others, her mental and emotional strength, and her giving for the better of others. Mrs. Estelle is a hero to many and helps others exclusively  just by telling her story to everyone in any similar situation. She inspires everyone she talks to. Even though, telling her stories may be hard, she tells them anyways to help everyone she can. Mrs. Estelle displays her heroic characteristics through her everyday actions and inspires others to be heroes too.

Hero Above All Heroes

Real heroes are very hard to come by in today’s world. There are many characteristic that can make someone a hero, depending on the opinion of the individuals. The characteristics that are most important to me are based off the values which the Bible describes. These characteristics include real love, strength and selflessness. A hero must have a mission and true heart for God. He must work tirelessly to minister to the needs of other people. These needs include providing for those who have nothing. There may be people who have no family, no friends and no one to visit them. A hero sees to the needs of those individuals. A hero is someone who works on a daily basis. Even though there are moments in which one-time heroes shine, I believe the real heroes are everyday people who follow the example of the one true example in history. If we look around, every once in a while, we will find people who really live according to this example. The greatest hero that I have ever known is Jesus Christ. He is the one who paid the ultimate price for all of us. He is the hero above all heroes. There is no greater hero in history.

True Everyday Heroes

In my opinion, a hero is someone who is not afraid of risking their own life or happiness for anyone who might be in need of help or rescuing. They do not ever hesitate about doing the right thing in order to help others. They are not selfish nor conceded, but humble, kind and brave. Firemen for example, go through inexplicable danger every time they are called for duty. They have to deal with all types of fires and other life-threatning situations. All their deeds are done in hope of saving someone's life and making a difference in the world. They know that they could get hurt in anyway, at any time, with some very serious injuries. But, that does not stop them from continuing their heroic lives. It does not matter how small or large the task might be, they always give it their very best. By doing their heroic acts of bravery each and every day, they become someone's hero. I can't imagine all the hardships they go through just to keep us all safe. Firemen should be kept close to our prairs, for they risk their lives for us and are humble heroes. For all these reasons and more, firemen are and will forever be "True Everyday Heoes".

A True Hero to Me

A hero can be determined in many ways to people but a hero to me is loyal, caring, and has a special touch that makes an impact on my life. Being loyal to me means the person is always their for no matter what the purpose is. My hero is my mom because their is not one thing she can't help me with. She shows her loyalty to me by always supporting me and loving to always be their to listen whatever the case may be. Caring for someone to me, means that you have to honestly care and love the person you are helping not only for who they are but what they mean to you.  My mom shows her care for me in many ways but not just like a regular mom though. A lot of the time she amazes me by going above and beyond with a question or problem I have came to her with. Knowing that she actually cares to listen and takes in what I say, not just to let it go through one ear and out the other, is a great feeling. My mom puts a special touch on my life every time I listen to her. If their is an issue we come upon she is their and if I take the wrong path she is always putting me back straight on the right one. No matter what her consequences are I know they have a reason behind them and its to show me what that path looks like and why I shouldn't be on it. Just as if she is always showing me the right from the wrong. She is the person I look up to and always will be which has a huge impact on my life. Knowing that your true hero in life will practically always be there for you makes you know you never have to hold anything in, especially in my case my hero! A hero can be determined in many ways but being loyal, caring, and putting an influence on my life is a true hero to me.

Humility can changes a person into a hero

A hero is a person who is humble, giving their whole being for the benefit of others. This quality triumphs over all qualities, because the strong, courageous, and bold have no place without humility. There is no value in strength, unless it benefit others. There is no value in courage, unless that courage is used in a way that uplifts another. This applies to every characteristic that a hero may possess, for if a hero only uses his his abilities for self gain, then that hero is no longer a hero, but just a person. In our world, the people we refer to as heroes, are the people who help other people. Every hero, from missionaries to police officers, humble themselves. Take a look at Hitler, he had all the characteristics of a hero. Hitler was brave, bold, and courageous, however he wasn't humble. If Hitler would have been humble, he would have been one of the greatest heroes in history. If a person displays a characteristic of a hero, but doesn't benefit anyone, then that person is just a person. If a person has the characteristics of a hero, and uses it to cause the downfall of people, then that person is not a hero. It all comes down to helping people, and the only way you can help someone is by humility.

Fame Isn't Everything

A hero is someone who is admired for their achievements and qualities.  I think a hero is someone that people look up to; someone people know will always be there. My admiration goes out to anyone in the armed forces for everything they do. It’s amazing to think that there are people who are willing to risk their lives to protect others. If that’s not loyalty, then I don’t know what is. They leave their homes, families, and friends not knowing if they will ever return. Their bravery pulls them through their weary and lonesome nights of being away. They do the best they can to protect and keep our country from harm. I admire people in the military for their exceptional bravery and strength they show throughout their deployment, and their entire lives. They don’t do it for the fame; they serve for the well-being of the people. I personally don’t think that people who serve our country get enough recognition for the tremendous jobs that they do. The people in the armed forces are true heroes in my book.

From The View Of a Hero

Throughout history many people have stepped up to the challenges of leading a nation to independence, guiding a nation through turmoil, rising to the occasion to defend his or her religious beliefs, or by simply putting their lives on the line every day to protect and secure the safety of others. These individuals, by their bravery and determination, have set their mark in their society and the peoples hearts around them as well. Despite the bravery these individuals face, there are other types of heroes as well. The heroes do their work on the field and on the court. But depending on whom you ask, the person’s view of not only a hero might change but the entire definition as well. A hero who fits this description is Abraham Lincoln. When Lincoln was president of the United States of America, our country was in a time of disagreement about whether or not we should have slaves. When President Lincoln decided to make his decision to abolish slavery, he was very conscious that many people would have distaste for him. The heroic act he did was he didn't let this pressure get to him. Lincoln made the right decision and saved our America from a terrible situation getting worse. Abe Lincoln also did many other heroic things but this is his most outstanding of them all. This is just my view of a hero!

A Hero in my Eyes.

A hero isn't just a person you see every day, or a celebrity that you think is cool. A hero is someone who means something to you, someone who works hard for something and tries his or her best for everything. A hero to you is someone who loves you, and won't stop loving you. To me, an example of a hero is my late great grandfather. He is a hero to me because he fought in World War II. I believe that any war veteran is a hero. To me, being a war veteran shows bravery and strength. Veterans go off to war for their country and they never know if they’re going to make it back or not, but it’s a chance that they are willing to take. I remember before he died he would always encourage me to do anything I wanted to pursue. He also encouraged me to never give up and work really hard for something I desired. By him telling me this, it made me work even harder because I would always want to make him proud like he made me proud. His death in 2008 was very emotional for my whole family. We knew the time was coming, and yes, it was difficult but we knew he died a great man and a hero to not only me but his country as well.

The Forgotten Heroes

What makes someone a hero? Well, there are many answers to that question. In my opinion, anyone can be a hero. Not with gigantic muscles or a red cape, but with the mind. Think about all the scientists and doctors who've made medical advances in the cancer field. Thousands of lives are now saved, not because the doctors and scientists defeated a terrible monster, but saved them from diseases by thinking of ways to cure them. The mind is not the only thing that can make a person a hero. You hear stories about how witnesses of car accidents call 911 and try to help the trapped in their cars, when they could have just kept driving by thinking someone else would help. Those people who take a little time out of their days to help others, to me, would be considered heroes. Then there's the kind-hearted people and the true friends. By smiling and having a good input on life really affects the people around you, even if you never know it. They may have a bad home life, or just a bad day and that one simple smile could make them have a new perspective on things. So here's to the unspoken, the forgotten hero's who impact so many lives with just their mind, selflessness, and their kind hearts.

Modern Heroes

Heroes are people who are admired for their distinguished courage, intelligence, and cunning. Not only are they admired for these qualities, they can be looked up to for them. Heroes also usually fight for a group or a cause to better or promote a common-good. I personally think that heroes are people that fight for something, no matter what the consequences is for them. For example, I find that Martin Luther King Jr. is a hero.  King fought, literally to the death, for a cause that was bigger than just him. With almost an entire country against him he found his beliefs to be evident and fought for them with vigor. This eventually led to bettering America’s civil laws which led to simple human rights that were not before present. He, and others like him, are heroes.
Yet, the road to becoming a hero can also be paved with other methods at hand. People such as Bill Gates, and Steve Jobs, I would also consider heroes. Around the mid-1970s these men, and others, paved the path for modern technology with their own hands. They started by doing things such as building and selling computers from their garage, and now have invented half of the things you use on a daily basis.
Heroes are normally defined for their strength, fighting skills, or things along the physical line of traits. Though, modern times show that the denotation has evolved into something that can encompass both the heroes of the past, and the activists, and scientists who are shaping our world today.

Capes Don't Matter

There are many types of heros in life. Some are very prominent, like the Supermen and Batmen. Then there are the unspoken heros, the person who does good not to gain fame or glory, but does these things because they know it is the right thing to do. Some of my heros are over seas right now fighting for our freedom. These heros are the soldiers of the United States of America. Day after day they risk their lives voluntarily for the good of our country. I truly admire these brave people.
Another group of great human beings that I consider heros are the police officers of Louisiana. Again just like the soldiers, their lives are at risk daily. They keep our daily lives safe. These are just some of my heros. As you can see hero can come from every where.

Heroic Acts

A hero is someone who will sacrifice their time without hesitation, if it means saving someone else’s time of hopelessly searching. A hero is someone who dedicates hours on end to find answers to the world’s most heart-wrenching questions. A hero looks beyond the tribulations that come with their job, because in the end, giving patients a sense of hope is their one desire. A hero is someone who is willing to shave their head, if it means supporting victims of cancer. A hero is someone who serves as a selfless being. Oncologists tend to have a burdensome job, but somewhere in the back of their minds, they know that their deeds are saving the lives of many people every single day. These physicians are capable of not only finding cures to the widely-known disease cancer, but they are also able to give their patients a sense of comfort that cancer may have robbed them of. Oncologists go hand in hand with my definition of a hero. Because of them, victims of this deadly disease don’t have to go through the grief process alone. Rather, they have someone to walk side by side with, through the toughest of trials. What does it truly mean to be a hero? Try walking in the shoes of an Oncologist.

Saviors of My Life

A hero is someone who helps others in need. Heroes are helpful, brave, caring, and even courageous! Heroes put others “in front of them” and care more about other people than themselves. Some heroes may even risk their lives for other people, but no matter what, heroes help someone. My parents are both my heroes. My mom works hard every day, taking care of me at our house. When I am in need of help or having a gloomy day, she is there to cheer me up. My dad is also my hero because he “makes the money in the family.” All day, he works as hard as he can in his office bringing income to our house, so we can stay satisfied. Without my parents, I would not be able to live as merrily as I am now; they help me out with everything! My parents put forth their best effort to make me become the best I can be, and they follow and support me through every “step” I take! In conclusion, my parents are my heroes and show the best characteristics of a hero.

It's Not the Cape that Makes a Hero

Everyone has their own opinion on who or what is the definition on what a hero is. The range goes from a man in a cape to the nurses in hospitals working to keep us healthy. Mine would be our soldiers. Our soldiers risk their lives each and everyday so we can have the freedom to do as we please. They volunteer to fight for us. They have courage, and they're the bravest of the brave. Both men and women putting themselves in harms way for people they don't even know. All of them willing to step in front of bullet for us. Doing anything they have to, to eliminate the enemy. Even our reserve and national guard. They're our hometown heroes. They help those in need here while the other guys are across the world. These people, to me, are true heroes.

A Hero in My Eyes

Bravery. Loyalty. Honesty. All these things are words I would use to describe a hero. The person who is the strongest, fastest, or cleverest is not the hero in my eyes. Someone who is willing to sacrifice their life or brave enough to stand out in the crowd to help others is a hero. They do not have to be muscular, tall, or fierce they just have to be willing to make a change. In the moment of tragedies is when I find heroes come out. For example, a mother or father who would sacrifice their own life for their children, people who would take a bullet for another person, or even the one kid who stops a different peer from getting bullied. All of them have heroic morals. The smallest act of kindness and a bit of bravery can bring out the hero in someone. The moment a person tries to make a change it can safe a life. Bravery not muscles takes a person to stand out. Loyalty not speed takes a person to help another. Honesty not cleverness takes a person to show the world the truth.

Anyone Can be a Hero

I honestly think the definition of a hero is someone who puts others above themselves. It’s someone who would rather do the right thing or help someone in need than just sit back and watch. Most people imagine a hero being a powerful or a larger than life character, like we see in movies and books. People like firefighters, policemen, and doctors are even more commonly categorized as one. In reality, he or she can be the total opposite of what you’d expect. The ordinary people you see day to day could be a hero, even if you wouldn't guess it in a million years.  I believe one can come from anywhere and be anything. It doesn't matter what they look like, what kind of life they had, or if they’re rich or poor. They are all around us. You aren't defined by your appearance but by your actions. Every single person has the potential to be one.  Not everyone can be a great hero, but a great hero can be anyone.

The Heart of a Hero

A hero is something we all aspire to be throughout our lives. When we are young, our concept of heroism seems to always involve a cape or some unrealistic super power, but as we grow, our notion of what a hero is grows with us. A hero is someone that faces adversity with a smile, and lives in an honorable way. A hero does the right thing, and leads others to do the same. Heroes are the role models of the world. Soldiers, firefighters, and others in dangerous jobs are all heroes, but they are not the only ones. Traits of heroism can be found in single parents, people fighting serious illnesses, and, for that matter, people struggling with any obstacle in their life, as long as they face these things with poise and dignity. My best friend went through a series of major surgeries, but throughout the experience, she maintained a happy disposition. She always kept a smile on her face, even through the most painful times. Her happiness affected the doctors and nurses around her, as well as all of the people to which she spoke. All of those things made her a hero, not just for me, but for all of those her story touched. Heroes are everywhere; they are in our everyday lives, whether we know it or not. They do not necessarily where a cape or even a uniform, because a hero is not determined by outward appearance. A hero is made from a person’s heart.

Real Heroes

The word "hero" is used by many to describe someone who has performed a commendable action. This means that anyone could be a hero, whether purposely or by coincidence. I don't believe performing a single, or even multiple, actions cherished by others can make a hero. You may perform heroic actions, which is the next best thing, but it won't make you a hero. To be a hero you must have purity, justice, and nothing else in mind. For this reason, humans can never be true heroes. To be a human means to have different emotions and a spontaneous brain. What I'm describing may seem like a drone to humans, but a hero is also sentient. He can discern right from wrong. He might not follow laws, but he will be righteous in his doings. Having someone like this in the human population would be impossible. Humans would never understand that this hero was, in fact, a hero. In these times of such corruption in many governmental societies, this hero would do too much of "justice", and it would seem to us like he wanted to take control of our society. In conclusion, I don't believe that the human populace can contain heroes. This statement doesn't go without saying that humans are all corrupt, horrid, and destructive. We are still capable of producing a noteworthy individual that should be included in our history. That being what it is, we are still capable of producing those that would be villains, still in our history.

Trauma Surgeon Flying

In my opinion the biggest hero we have is a trauma surgeon. Think about it, they save lives on a daily basis. No matter what walks through the doors of that hospital they try their best to save what little of a chance of survival there is. They work on the people like convicts that have murdered and taken the lives of others and their job is to save that person's life. Trauma surgeons have the knowledge and ability like no one else to find the reason for anything happening. Their job is to see the miracle in life and try to keep that miracle. Ever heard of a medical miracle? Many times when you hear this the trauma surgeons are the ones seeing them. They work and work for hours to keep the person on the table breathing and when they think they have failed they see these medical miracles. They may not be all the time but they happen because of the effort and determination they live with in their hearts. These people are the people that try and try again, no matter how much doubt may creep into their mind and their patients minds. What do you think of these amazing hero's that work for you and the miracle of your life? I think they are pretty amazing and and that is why they are my hero.

True Heroes

To me, not everyone can be a hero. If you are a hero to me, you must be brave, selfless, and daring. If someone is trapped in a harmful situation, and someone steps up and helps them, I would consider them a hero. Even if it is someone stopping a bully from beating someone up, that is still someone I would call a hero. Sometimes, the hero does not get acknowledged. This does not make them any less of a hero. I think policemen and firemen are heroes. The policemen put their lives in danger to make our lives not endangered. Firemen are heroes for the same reason as policemen. They run straight into fires so we can be pulled out of them. These people know that some day they could get burnt or shot, but they still do it. Why would they do this? They do this because they want us to be safe. They have bravery, selflessness, and they are daring, and that is why I think they are heroes.
