Do you consider youself a hero?

What is a hero? Everyone has their own definition of a hero. My definition of a hero is someone who is brave, strong emotionally, and always keeps their chin up in rough times. To me, a hero does not have to be someone who can fly, or puts out burning buildings, or saves lives. A hero in my eyes would be like a single mother just getting by and providing everything she can for her child, or a someone who voulenteers just to help out in any way they can, or someone battling cancer yet managing to keep a smile on their faces. Many people in our lives go through trials we could not even imagine, but we would never know because they are always so possitive. A person who can keep going on with life and keeps a possitive attitude when in reality, they need someone to help keep their spirits high are true heros to me. A woman at my church, which I will keep namelss, has had two lung transplants because of lung cancer. Most people do not even survive one, but she made it through two of them. When I see her walking around church or in town she never fails to have a smile on her face. There are so many others just like her. When you hear the word hero most people think of superman or spiderman or other types of movie characters that come in to save the day. When I hear the word hero, I think of those who are going through the most rough times of their lives but still manage to stay happy. Those people are my heros.

  1. I like how you talked about everyday people that go through difficulties that we can all relate too. My favorite is when you talk about the woman who has lung cancer. People like her are truly inspiring.

  2. I like how you say the single mother is a hero because they really are and it's real hard on them and the kid. And I can also see that if there is a man who helps that mom, he is just as much a hero as she was.
