What does a person have to have or do to be considered a hero? This is a question most will have asked or will ask themselves, therefore what is the answer. I think there is not one straight explanation that can truly define a hero. Every person has their own unique idea on what they consider a hero. My definition is a person who is brave, self sacrificing, trustworthy, puts others first, and is able to be looked up to.
Most movies and stories portray a hero as someone who is extraordinary and does all these amazing things, such as Superman. In my opinion a person does not just have to do all these incredible acts such as saving many people's lives, though that is definitely great, but they can do smaller things. For example I would consider a single mother trying to raise her kids while having many jobs a hero. Also people who are willing to risk their lives for what they believe are right. A hero can be a father who works hard for his family to make sure they have the best life possible. Firemen and police officers, whose lives are threatened all the time while making sure others or safe, are people I consider a hero. None of these people have remarkable powers or have accomplished tasks many people cannot do, but they are ordinary people who put others first and willing to stand up for what they believe.
I agree with you. In society today, heroes are stereotyped as people with extraordinary powers, but that is never the case. People who can be looked up to is a great definition of heroism!
