There are plenty of definitions for a hero, some include male, courageous, legendary, and strong. My opinion of a hero is someone that has overcome obstacles bearing a smile the whole time. Some examples of this might be a woman fighting breast cancer, or a 13 year old boy in need of a heart transplant. My last example is one I had to face. Some of you may know of the person I am talking about, Justice Baham. I have the privilege of knowing Justice and his family. We attend the same church as the Baham family, and I have become close friends with Justice and his family.
About a year ago, Justice found out he had a major heart condition and needed a heart transplant. He spent many months at the Oshner Hospital in New Orleans, until finally he got a heart transplant. He has spent many months recovering, and still is. What makes him a hero is throughout this huge obstacle he had to face, he always had a smile. Even though he has to wear a mask, you can always tell he has a huge smile on underneath the mask. When he is in your presence, he makes you day so much brighter. He has been coming to church again the past few weeks and already he is making an impact on many lives, including the many friends he met in the hospital with the same condition. He makes the children believe that the same thing can happen to them with the help of the one and only God.
I know Justice is one of the many true heroes, and many people look up to him. He may just be a 13 years old, but he has already changed many lives. I can only hope he continues on his path and changes many more lives as the months and years go by.
This is a great story of a true hero. It's great that Justice was able to look at the positives through his hardships. He is now able to inspire others through his story and hopefully keeps that smile on his face.
