The Heroes of Freedom

Just about everyone has a different definition of the word hero. To a child it might be a guy in a cape with special powers. To a sports fan it could be a player on their favorite team. The dictionary says that a hero is a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. My definition of a hero is a little different than all the others but is pretty simple.
To me a hero is any person that that goes out of their way to help someone at their own sacrifice. Some examples of this would be firemen, policemen, and even just everyday people trying to help out. There are millions more examples that I could give but there is only one of them that commits to the ultimate sacrifice, their life. You may have guessed it by now, but the people that I am referring to are the men and women serving in the U.S. military.
Everyday these people wake up in the morning knowing that they might not get to do it again tomorrow. They think about not getting to see their families again and yet still find the courage to go out and fight. In my opinion these are the true heroes of the world. They do not have a cape or any special powers, and they dont get paid millions just to go out and play a game. They put everything they have on the line for your benefit.
Now that is a hero!

  1. A fairly generic post, but I definitely agree with it. It has really strong meaning to give credit where it is due to the armed forces, and this compliments them very well!
