My Hero (Minus the Tights)

When someone utters the word "hero", we all stop and think about some superhuman being in tights. Someone like Superman, Green Latern, or Batman. We can all agree that these people are heroes: those who strive to maintain peace and fight to perserve justice. Yet, all of these "heroes" are simply make-believe. So what is a hero? According to dictionary.com, a hero is "a person who, in the opinion of others, has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal". Being a hero does not mean you have superhuman powers or defeat villains on a daily basis. Being a hero means being a person of value who others look up to in times of hardship. A hero is someone who is kind and compassionate. A hero cares more for others than he does for himself. A hero is someone who loves those who need it most. They never think, "How can they benefit me?" But they always think, "How can I benefit them?" Everyone has a hero (besides the notorious men in tights). My hero is the one who truly is a savior. My hero is Jesus because he died for us. In my opinion, no man with a cape could top that.
