A Hero Is Born
A hero is born, not made. Many times a hero doesn't know he is a hero. It's someone who thinks of others first and who has determination. A hero doesn't do good things so that he will be remembered a certain way, but because he simply wants to. No matter what the situation is, he always keeps fighting. However, a hero is not perfection. He too, makes mistakes and struggles from time to time, but he doesn't let that interfere with reaching his goals or moving forward. My Dad comes to mind when I think of the word "Hero" because even though he was dying more everyday from Cancer he still kept moving forward with his life. Every step he took was painful but he would put it aside and he survived not only for himself but for his family as well. Good deeds and tragedies don't make you a hero, you are born one.

I agree that a hero is born and not made. Also, I do concur that they make mistakes. Your dad surviving for your family is a beautiful example of a hero.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I am glad to hear that your dad has dealt with cancer, I must disagree on that heroes are born. I believe that your actions make you a hero. Just as actions make us our own people. Are we not a collection of our actions and deeds?

ReplyDeleteI'd have to disagree with the idea that heroes are born. That's equivalent to stating people aren't defined by their actions at all, which is absurd. Heroes can come from an array of actions. Like you said, your father is a hero for his attitude with a disease, but someone such as Martin Luther King, who heroically fought and died for an idea that eventually reformed a nation, is also a hero.
