Not Exactly What You Were Expecting
A
hero is not always someone who wears a cape and saves damsels in distress. They
aren’t always required to carry a weapon or be the bravest person on the face
of the planet. Fame and glory aren’t important to some of the real world
heroes. Helping other selflessly is all these heroes need in place of glory. A
man that donates his kidney to a needy person without second thought is a hero
in my eyes. Without ever even meeting the person he is donating to, our hero
has saved their life. Even someone as simple a school teacher can be a hero. They
help children become better educated, which in turn helps the student be more
successful in life. In this way, you have helped someone have a better life. Anybody
can be a hero. All they have to do to make themselves heroes is to apply their
being to help others. Anything anybody does to permanently change another
beings life for the better, is a true hero.

I fully agree with you that a hero doesn't have to have all the qualities of a typical hero you would read about in a book or see in a movie. I also agree that anyone who makes an impact on my, or someone else's life is a hero.
