Not Your
Stereotypical Hero
When you see the word “hero” you immediately think
flowing cape, saving the girl and awkwardly tight spandex. The word doesn’t
bring to mind the single mom working to feed her family or the doctor that
saves people’s lives every day. The moms
and doctors are underappreciated and not given enough gratitude to the things
they do every day and the things we take for granted. When a fictional hero
does an act of service they get fame and fortune and they are showered with
attention. But I think to be considered a hero you shouldn’t need gratitude or thanks
to want to be a hero. You also need to be brave and you have to be smart but
you must perform acts of service like police men or firefighters. Policemen and firefighters are
heroes because they put their life on the line every day for the wellbeing of
other people. They also aren’t paid or thanked enough for their acts of service.
Another forgotten hero is anyone in the military.
Every single day they literally fight for other people and are put through so
much we can’t even fathom or appreciate what they go through on a regular
day. I think sacrifice is a big part of
a hero’s life. Their life could possible change but they still do it because
they care about people and when their life changes they usually channel that
passion to being a better hero. I think in that if you’re a hero you have to
be a certain type of person with many good qualities.
