The dictionary defines the word random as “lacking a
definite plan, purpose, or pattern.” However , when referring to people's lives,
there is no such thing as random. To me, the quote, “… that you can separate
one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind” means that
every decision you make affects somebody else’s life and that their decisions
affect your life. For example, in the novel The Five You Meet in People
Heaven, Eddie meets the blue man whom he unknowingly killed by running in
front of his car and causing his already weak heart to fail. At the time, Eddie
had no idea that he had affected somebody’s life. This fact makes me extremely
curious to how many people’s lives I have impacted without knowing. The
smallest decision that I make like getting in a car or going to get the mail
could severely compromise my self or another person to me, the thought of what
could happen is both terrifying and intriguing. To explain, the thought that I
could hurt somebody or mess up their life with and ordinary action is pretty
scary ,but makes me curious to how I have impacted other people in my life time
at the same time. I love this quote because it makes me think about something I
would never otherwise think about. I can not even begin to explain how deeply
this quote makes me think and it fascinates me that I will never really know
how many people’s lives have been changed by mine.
The quote,"that there are no random acts. That we are all connected.'' means that no matter what fate connects everybody's lives together. To further explain, in The Five People You Meet in Heaven, Ruby's husband built an amusement park and named it after her, Ruby Pier, as a gift. Eddie worked as at Ruby Pier for a very long time, but he could not have worked there without Ruby Pier being built in the first place. So, although they did not know it,both Eddie and Ruby's lives were connected. It is the same for everybody else's lives, for example, if my grandparents had never met I would not be here, to me that is an example of fate connecting two people's lives. Without fate, nobody's life would be as it is or the same as how it would have been.
To conclude, both of these quotes explain the concept of fate without a flaw. It is hard to remember that your actions affect other people and that without fate you might not be here right now. These quotes both intrigue and terrify me in ways that I do not fully understand. I hope that everybody appreciates the message that these two quotes put out as much as I do.
