"That there are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind." The deeds you do without thinking can alter someones life in a way you would never expect. In my eyes, this quote means that somehow we are intertwined. Not in the sense that we are all connected by the religion we follow, the color of our skin, or gender, but by being a human being.
In the novel The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom, several coincidences happen that are for better and for worse. For example, when Eddie was young he ran into the street chasing a ball thinking the only thing that was going to happen is that he would pick up his ball and continue playing with his friends. He never knew that running out to go grab his ball would interfere with someone's life.
The five people that Eddie meets in Heaven are all gone because of him. In this case, he was the catalyst. Even though he didn't know he was until he died. So, being a catalyst was contingent in this situation. When other people die they meet different people depending on how their life was. After you die, and after you meet your five people, you should be able to understand all the questions you have asked yourself. Overall, the lesson that you learn from this book is that things happen for a reason and that you can't control it no matter what you do to try to stop it. Anything can happen in the spur of the moment, and you can't live life being scared.
