From the Blue Man, Eddie learns, "That there are no random acts. That we are all connected." This quote means to me that everything happens for a reason and that people are much more involved in others lives than they realize. Something you do that you may consider mundane could cause a ripple effect and end up changing another person's life. Of course this effect does not have to be on such a big scale. It could be as simple as holding a door for someone, who then in turn helps an elder across the street. However, this effect can be negative too, so give some forethought to your choices. Small acts, such as these, can show the impact we have on others.
This all fits with what Eddie will teach the little girl he saved. We all have our own stories, but all stories are one. All people's stories constantly overlap and touch. All people's lives are connected and intertwined. Something that seems random may be the effect of overlapping stories. For example, when Nicky's story collided with Eddie's, a lost key became deadly. I do believe that God has a plan for everyone and that nothing happens without a purpose. While some things that happen may make us sad or angry, in the end there is always a reason. Maybe we will never know that reason. Maybe that reason will find us later in life.
The second part of the quote says, "That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind." I think this means that deep inside we are all human, and no one is more or less important. We are all part of one big picture. This quote actually reminded me of song lyric from one of my favorite songs. " A wave tossed in the ocean, a vapor in the wind." You cannot separate a wave from the vast ocean. Just as you cannot separate one life from billions. You do not know where one starts and another ends. It is very similar to the wind. Just as you cannot see or touch the wind, you cannot see or touch the connections between people. However, you can sometimes feel the connections, just as you might feel a breeze in the wind.
