The Five People You Meet in Heaven was a very powerful book that I greatly enjoyed. The quote “That there are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind” to me, means that every person is in some way connected. It also means that all lives and experiences are linked together.
The novel was very thought provoking and made me realize how everyone and everything is all tied up together. I believe this quote is strong and helps readers understand that everything that happens is for a reason. The quote puts many ideas into our heads about life. One idea is that we are all the same, going through life day by day as one. The quote gives the idea that not a single person is different from another. The prompt helps readers comprehend the theme of the whole story, “That there are no random acts.” I think this means we spend our days believing we have different stories, different lives, but we don’t. People try so hard to make a life people will remember them by that they don’t realize everyone else has the same life stories being told. Every person has accomplished a goal, made someone laugh, experienced a tragedy, done something wrong, but we are all human and we all go through the same everyday life experiences. All lives are connected, and we have to stop thinking otherwise.
This quote has compelling words, that we are no different, that we cannot be separated from each other. I am convinced the quote is helping the main character in the book understand that nothing that happens in life is an accident. The quote explains that he should not believe his life was any less meaningful then someone else’s life. The writer chose his words precisely in the quote "you can no more separate a breeze from the wind", meaning the same goes for two individual lives that cannot be divided.
