An Unknowing Impact

In the novel “ The Five People You Meet In Heaven” it states,” That there are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind.” This quote is important to me because it can be interpreted as everyone having connections and relations. Personally this means to me that we are all brothers and sisters in Christ or, in the same sense, we are all God’s children. From a different perspective, this quote could mean we affect others whether we know it or not. When Eddie met Ruby he had no idea that she was the owner of Ruby Pier. He never knew it, but without this stranger, he would not have a job. In the text it states,” It suddenly made sense to Eddie, why the woman looked familiar. He had seen a photograph, somewhere in the back of the repair shop, among the old manuals and paperwork from the park’s initial owner.” Every word a person speaks and every action a person makes has an impact on someone else. Even if you do not directly interact with someone your actions can still connect you to them. For example, as young Eddie was chasing a ball across the street he wasn’t aware that this would be the cause of the Blue Man’s death. In the story it states,” Suddenly, a baseball bounces across the street, and a boy comes racing after it. The driver slams on the brakes and yanks the wheel. The car skids, the tires screech.” So, even as an irresponsible young boy, Eddie took a man’s life by running across the street to get a baseball. No matter how far apart we all seem in this vast world, we are all connected to one another in some way, and can impact each others’ lives for better or worse.
