Everything occurs for a reason, there is no such thing as an accident. In The Five People You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom the quote "That there are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more separate one life form another than you can separate a breeze from a wind", means that you are connected into someone's life because of fate and you can't change the way things work out. Although everything begins and ends with life and death, forgiveness if found and peace is restored.
A little girl, Tala, was the fifth person Eddie met. She was in the Philippines when he burned down the hut, she was also in it. It states in the final chapter Tala says, " 'You burn me. You make me fire.' " And Eddie feels instant sadness and guilt, but the little girl was not upset. It states, "She raised her charred hand and Eddie gripped it gently and slowly rubbed the stone along her forearm, until the scars began to loosen...He quickened his efforts until the singed flesh fell and the healthy flesh was visible." She was forgiving him and rubbing away his mistakes. She forgave Eddie even though she died because of him. Eddie also found out that he saved the little girl.
Forgiveness brings peace wether it's at the beginning or end of life. We cannot change what's bound to happen but we can forgive the people who made the mistake. Life will carry on, death will happen, and errors will be made. Eddie realizes, finally, that everything he did came from a reason. "There was a pier filled with thousands of people...They were there, or would be there, because o the simple, mundane things Eddie had done in his life, the accidents he had prevented, the rides he had kept safe, the unnoticed turns he had affected everyday."
