There is a reason
for everything that happens in this world. Even life and death. In the quote “That
there are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more separate
one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind.” The narrator
is referring to the major theme of the novel. He uses this quote to tell how
the key became locked in the base of Freddy’s Free Fall which lead to Eddie’s
death a few months later. The major theme of the novel is that there are no
random acts in life. Eddie then learns, in his first lesson, his actions ended
up killing the Blue Man.
This quote could
have a different meaning for every single person in this world, but to me it
means that all lives and stories intertwine in some way. The text gives a
couple simple examples, “When lightning strikes a minute after you are gone, or
an airplane crashes that you might have been on. When your colleague falls ill
and you do not. We think such things are random. But there is a balance to it
all.” Another example was when Eddie was shot in the leg. Eddie lost so many
things from that event and was devastated for a very long time, but this action
happened for a reason. If Eddie was never shot in the leg, he would have died
in that hut. Also if Eddie would have had never went into the hut, the Captain
would probably still be alive. All actions have consequences and reasons.
In conclusion, one thing I can learn from this quote is, we
know that all lives are connected and all stories intertwine with each other at
some point, and we should not dwell on the past, or the bad things that have
happened, because for every bad action, something good has come from it.
