What does the quote,
“That there are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more
separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind”,
mean to me? This quote is about the interconnectedness of lives, and the
influence people can have on your life, as is the entire story. Albom talks a
lot about how people affect each other, and he demonstrates it throughout the
novel. To put it simply, this quote, to me, means that people change people. Every
day, without even realizing it sometimes. In the book, when Eddie first arrived
in heaven and was listening to the Blue Man explain the way heaven works, The
Blue Man says, “When I died, my life was illuminated by five others, and then I
came here to wait for you, to stand in your line, to tell you my story, which
becomes part of yours. There will be others for you, too. Some you knew, maybe
some you didn’t. But they all crossed your path before they died. And they
altered it forever.” This is something that happens every day, people cross
paths and lives are changed. The Blue Man and Eddie’s paths crossed when Eddie
went to get his ball out of the middle of the road, and the Blue Man was
driving toward him. He had to swerve in order to not hit him, and it was at the
cost of his life. Their paths were altered forever. Everybody has small moments
in their life that change it, like Eddie. That’s what makes this book relatable,
people will always change people.
