One Small Thing

As I was reading this quote from The Five People You Meet in Heaven, “That there are no random acts. That we are all connected. That you can no more separate one life from another than you can separate a breeze from the wind.” This quote means to me that one small action can change the path of someone’s life forever. When Eddie was a child, he was tossing a baseball with his friends when the ball rolled into the street. Eddie ran out to grab it when a Ford Model A drove toward him and veered out the way, nearly missing him. Even though this barely affected Eddie, it could’ve changed his life forever. He could’ve been hit and possibly stuck in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. The fact that one small thing like that could change someone’s life forever is very important to me. Society may have a difficult time noticing it, but your family, friends, and occasionally even strangers can change the course of your life forever. The Blue Man, Joseph Corvelzchik, explained to Eddie that there are no random acts and we are all connected. He said “That death doesn’t just take someone, it misses someone else, and in the small distance between being taken and being missed, lives are changed.” One small thing, like Eddie not being hit by Joseph, caused death to miss Eddie. In the process, Joseph was taken. This is the reason that one small action can change the path of someone’s life forever.
